This is my Eva; there are many like it, but this one is mine! [Closed]
Asuka grinned. She'd been waiting for a few minutes now - this guy (whoever he was) had better show up soon! She didn't have all day, as much as she wanted someone to get her beautiful Unit 02 working again. Sure, she'd had an X-Wing to pilot and the training and all of that, but she really wanted to be able to sit in Unit 02 again, to be able to take the fight to the enemy, to get up close and personal.
She'd been born for this, after all.
She let her legs dangle - she'd already called up a simulation of the Eva and she was perched on its shoulder, about forty meters off the ground. She didn't mind the height. She was used to it. Besides, her Eva was a safe zone for her. If she could get it to run without external power, well... she'd be unstoppable. She knew that much.

So color him extremely impressed. Little kid in a candy store excited, almost.
"Do you want to show me what she can do, or just tell me, or do you have schematics or anything? I'm thinking something fusion powered, maybe..." Stephen would readily let himself rattle on, but he didn't want to seem too much like a mad Scientist, no matter how much the shoe might fit.
no subject
"I can show you how it moves, but I don't know much about the schematics..."
Which was true. Alas.

"Eh, I can take some input with my goggles, and see if Stacy can give me anything via cross-reference, schematics wise." That was why he'd created the data recorder for them, anyway. And he had a pocketful of extra chips, just in case.
He slid the dark-tinted goggles down over his eyes from where he'd pushed them on his brow, and started up the data feed by pressing a button. Then he gave Asuka a nod.
"Whenever you're ready, Miss Soryu."

A flaw, but one she tended to ignore. She shrugged carelessly. "It runs off of electricity just fine though."
She tossed him a devilish grin and then trotted off. A few moments later she was back in her entry plug and the unit loomed over Tokyo-3. Stephen probably found himself observing from a distance. "Let's go!"
She kicked the unit forward, moving into an all-out sprint. For something so huge, it moved damn fast - give her a few seconds and she'd break the sound barrier.

Stephen was fairly startled when the sonic boom hit--though in retrospect, he felt he shouldn't have been, but he still jumped. The data was scrolling through his goggles' display screen, and he was very glad that he had that handful of chips to prevent a break in the recording.
He could understand perfectly, however, why Asuka was in the market for a new power source. That unit had to drain an incredible amount of energy to do what it did, and Stephen got the impression that this was the low end of the light show, so to speak.

"Alright! Stacy, give me some targets!" Her voice was an arrogant sing-song as a squadron of attack helicopters popped into existence and immediately started to buzz the giant red machine. With a thought, her Eva's rifle was in her amrs. She raised it and squeezed off a burst, firing massive shells at the incoming helicopters. One of them exploded into a fireball, while the others opened fire with their own missiles and cannon.
The projectiles never hit their target. With a smirk, Asuka watched as the barrage simply exploded on her AT field. Glowing circles spread out from the point of impact, surrounding the AT field in a nimbus of light.
Piece of cake.

"I'm--well!" Speechless was also good, right? Though it might be unlikely that Asuka could actually hear him where he was.
Still, he had an incredible amount of data to process. This was a good thing. But he definitely still wanted to get Asuka's input as to anything else he might need to know, and what she might want done to her machine.
After all, he was VERY used to people and their "babies". He was the only one who could touch his best friend's car, back home, after all.

"Pretty impressive, huh? And that's only a taste of what I can do once I get going!"
Arrogance dripped from her voice. She cocked her hip and settled her hand against grinning, "Think you can do something about it? We couldn't make a generator small enough back home, but here..."
no subject
"So, I'd still like your opinions. How small do you want the energy source?" He'd really need to get his paws on some schematics, but he was hoping Stacy would provide that. "I assume you want as much power as I can theoretically have it pour out with your unit's capability to take it?"
Dangerous ground, Stephen, watch where you tread!

She called up a three-dimensional image of the Eva and it's usual power source. She jabbed a finger at the trailing cable and traced it up to the power slots high on the back of the monstrous machine. "It can jack in there, I guess. Maybe jettisonable if there's an emergency or something. I think it's doable. In theory."
no subject
"Jettisonable if necessary. Hm. Yes, I can definitely come up with something, I think. I'd like to see the actual unit, but I'll enter some data into my omnicomm and get to work. I plan to make a prototype to be certain it can interface properly, and not damage your unit." Because Stephen was a careful sort of fellow.
"You don't mind if I make records of the power source I build and leave them on file in Engineering, do you?"
no subject
She finally glanced at him with another shrug, "Oh, you might as well go ahead and leave the schematics..."
no subject
Not that it always happened that way.
"Well. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to help you out, Miss Soryu. I'll get right to work on looking up the schematics, and as soon as I have the prototype ready for you--give me a week, maybe? I'll be in touch. If some problem comes up, I'll be sure to contact you."
Though he really didn't expect the latter to happen, Stephen was just expressing professional courtesy.
