So, the votes were counted, and Leon had won. So what was supposed to be a temporary job just turned into a full-time gig.

Okay. Deep breath. Get to work.

But first, he was going to have to talk to Claire and Sherry. Both of whom, he figured, would be looking for him, and both of them would find him in his quarters at the moment.

He only chuckled a bit, but he knew she was serious about that.

"I know. Let's hope Luthor is smart enough not to piss you off again." And Leon might have to have the Major impress upon Lex how bad of an idea that is.

"I was kind of hoping he would." She wrinkled her nose at Leon, before shaking her head. "We don't need him that much, right?" She couldn't really stand people like Lex.

"Right now, we need all the help we can get." Leon was very aware of how big of a mountain they had to climb here. "But he's already close to the point where he's more trouble than he's worth."

"I'm kind've thinking he's past that point, but. Personal experience." She sighed, shrugging her shoulders before falling backwards onto the bed and frowning up at the ceiling.

"At least I think somehow convincing GLaDOS it'd be fun to mess with Steve was counterproductive."

Leon considered that for a moment, but didn't say anything about it. In truth, he felt much the same way she did, but he was handcuffed, to a degree, by his situation.

Though that didn't mean Lex couldn't be dealt with if necessary.

"Have you talked to Steve since he got released?"

"No," she wrinkled her nose, shifting a little and putting one hand behind her head.

"I'm trying to figure out how to tell him I know who put him in there in the first place, and then convince him not to try to go after the guy."

"Don't tell him," Leon suggested, looking at her over his shoulder. He knew she wouldn't like that particular idea, but... "All he'll do is work himself into a frenzy, then he'll end up back in quarantine, or worse."

"It'd be worse if I didn't tell him," she sighed, moving her head a little so she could look at Leon.

"Because he'll find out one way or another, it isn't like Stacy is keeping it a secret, and I'm sure one of his other friends has looked into it by now, too."

Steve has friends?

"Then you need to convince him that making a big scene about it isn't going to help him. Unless he wants to tell everyone about Veronica."

"Thank you for stating the obvious," Claire knew it wasn't Leon's fault, but the whole Steve thing was just all-around a touchy subject. She sighed, rolling her head to the side and staring over at the far wall, a frown on her face.

"I think I can convince him to let me handle it."

He knew he shouldn't have, but he snerked a little and muttered "Captain Obvious..."

Anyway, he shook that thought off after a moment.

"It shouldn't be much of a problem for you to get him to listen. He trusts you. And probably still has a crush on you."

She groaned, rolling her head back to look at him while reaching up to smack him in the arm.

"He's got a girlfriend now. He's getting over me." Mostly. Hopefully.

Steve had a girlfriend?

"...that Miku girl?" Leon had seen the two hanging out together, but never bothered to make much of it. He generally had more important things to do than keep up to date on everyone else's love life.

"Anyway, I'm not saying you should seduce him with your feminine wiles-- you're only allowed to do that to me-- but 'getting over' someone and actually being over them are two different things, especially at that age. It's not like he had just a small crush on you."

Claire sighed, sitting back up and leaned against Leon's shoulder, raising her eyebrows at him.

"Well, he's over me enough that he can hold a conversation with me without trying to kill himself from embarrassment." Which was saying a lot, really.

"It's a start," he assured her, putting his arm around her.

"Mm-hmm," she hummed in response, shifting around to make herself more comfortable. She closed her eyes and rested her head against his shoulder, exhaling slowly.

"Nothing to worry about now, anyway."

"Yeah." Leon, at least, had other things on his mind. Though he would keep a closer eye on the situation.

He drew her closer, and rested his head against hers. "I should probably go address the crew." Though, really, he made zero attempt to go anywhere.

Claire smiled a little, opening her eyes again and shifting so she could slide her arm around his waist.

"I'm pretty sure they're all getting drunk, now. I saw something about a party in the Drunken Dragon go up on the network right before I headed up here."

"Really?" He didn't bother to check his omnicomm, taking her word for it. He reached up, brushing some of her hair out of her face so he could get a better look at her.

"Then I'll address them all later, let everyone celebrate for the night."

She leaned her face into his touch, a slow smile spreading across her lips.

"Does that mean I finally get you all to myself?" They really hadn't had nearly enough time together since Zokez II. And even that had been cut shorter than she would've liked.

"I'm all yours," he promised her, then leaned in to kiss her.

The crew could wait until later.
