Then there were two [Fletcher, come pick up your dog, open to others]

In the days after shore leave, Daimon had his hands full. He had managed to find new owners for all of the puppies he had saved, all but two. The green urchin that always followed him around, even if he did not want it too, and another puppy. The second one, at least, did not climb all over him.

It was walk time and he strolled through hydroponics, keeping a close eye on them and hoping they would relieve themselves here instead of on the floor of St Peter's Basilica this time.

Fletcher had almost forgotten what the Hydroponics area was like after spending so long in GLaDOS's grip. It was nice and relaxing here, even though his mind was racing with ideas on how to start up his food-growing operations. Work usually wasn't stressful for him; just the opposite.

As he walked about, looking around at all of the lovely plants, he noticed a man with a pair of... small animals. Puppies? A weird green one, and a more normal-looking one. "Ah, hello!"

Fletcher blinked in surprise and stared at the green one as its tail whirred about, and stepped closer once it was picked up. "Me? Really? I like dogs, but..."

The brown one stepped closer to Fletcher, seemingly wary. He looked down at it, and squatted and held out a hand, which it accepted and started to lick.

The puppy continued licking his hand until he moved it to pat him on the head, and Fletcher smiled. "I guess that's true... My family's not here." He looked up at the man. "You don't mind, though? I mean, isn't he yours?"

After hesitating for a second, Fletcher picked the puppy up. It didn't seem to mind, so he held it close and stood up. Well, things were going pretty good today, weren't they? "Thank you very much! I really appreciate it!"

Seriously, it's not every day you randomly meet a guy who gives you a puppy.

Fletcher nodded. "Yes, sir. Thank you!" he said again, and then set the small dog down, knelt down in front of him, and proceeded to pet him some more.
