A Song In Your Heart [Open]

It had happened so suddenly. Sasami's joyous return from being GLaDOSed was slightly hampered by a combination of both a sudden emptiness and loss and worrying over the elections. Part of her worried that, even after all she did, she wasn't going to get in. They'd never let her get in, no matter how much she tried.

Attempting to get her mind off of everything, Sasami wandered into the sensoriums, wishing for something simple. She remembered all the times Mihoshi and Kiyone had opted for karaoke night (mostly because Mihoshi dragged Kiyone into it) and there had been a few times they all got into it. Singing felt pretty good right about now.

It seemed that the room read her mind as it changed into a stage of sorts, a karaoke machine waiting for her. At the moment, though, there wasn't anyone around - she was probably just hoping that she could sing by herself and hope that no one else came.

Approaching the stage, Sasami approached the machine and began flipping through some of the songs. One of them caught her eye, especially after reading the lyrics in curiosity. Letting the song start up, Sasami waited for the lyrics to appear...

...And she started to sing...

It had actually been a long time since Katara had done one of these things, and the last time had been with the Outsiders, so it was something of a bittersweet experience for her. Nevertheless, she was here, and was combing through a list of songs. She wanted something good, and being here with all its familiarity had been one of the only, ONLY times that Katara actually asked for a bee. She still made faces when she drank it, but it was a homage to the friends she couldn't remember, so she said nothing more about it.

Then she found the PERFECT song, made even better by the fact that a certain someone would be here to hear it (she hoped). She got up, clearing her throat.

Hikari smiled and clapped her hands as Sasami finished up her song, Tailmon sitting in the corner near her. "That was really beautiful Sasami-chan."

Sasami blinked as she saw Hikari clapping for her. She grinned sheepishly and giggled, blushing as she replied.

"Aww... th-thanks, Hikari-chan!" Sasami replied.

Hikari giggled, moving closer to Sasami. "Hey, it's true. So how have you been?"

"Alright... I'm trying to keep up with everything, especially after the GLaDOS thing pulled me in..." Sasami said.

It's like the first and second times he'd been drawn to music. Even while Renne might not like all tunes -- indeed, some sound discordant to his ears -- Renne still comes like a moth to flames. He listens for a while, letting his mind roam over everything that has occurred, is occurring and might happen in the future.

With a small smile, he soon crawls -- wait. Stops. Stands up. There. His gait's still more awkward than graceful but Renne manages, walking as well as he can up onto the stage. The song in his mind comes like near any other and he doesn't try to hold back the soft colour/sounds that are born from the slow, mellow words.

"Mm," Nanoha smiled down at her blonde companion as she fingered the microphone, trying to decide what song to sing. "If I sing one, you have to do one too. Okay?"

Fate never had good experiences with karaoke. More often than not, it ended up with her being bullied into singing, and she was not going to let that happen now.

"... Do I have to?"

"Yes."

Does it look like Nanoha's going to take no for an answer? "...it'll help if I sing first, right?"

... Sigh. Fate really needs to start learning how to stand up to Nanoha someday.

"It'll help a little, I guess..."

Aw, but it's harmless fun. "Okay," she beamed. "Let me pick a good song then!"

Time to leaf through and see what they have.

Fate looked over Nanoha's shoulder as the girl flipped through the song choices, scanning the titles. She may have been dragged into this, but a part of her DID like karaoke, so she wanted to make sure she picked something good.

"Find anything good?"

Nanoha's finger stopped on a title that sounded familiar. "'Hoshizora no Spica'...? Hmm. I wonder where I've heard that before."

Fate shrugged. "The name does sound familiar... Maybe it was popular while we were still on earth?"

"Oh, that could have been it," Nanoha nodded thoughtfully. "It's as good an explanation as any, don't you think?"

She pressed the button and a song began to play. "Oh! I do know this one!"

"Oh yeah, me too!" Grabbing the microphone, Fate held it out to her girlfriend. "Here, better get ready before it starts."

Nanoha took the microphone from Fate and fumbled with it for a moment before switching it--not seconds before the singing began. The girl started to sing along with the words bouncing across the screen - her voice hesitant at first, but picking up by the end as the memories of the song came back:

Fate always loved hearing Nanoha sing. There was just something in the other girl's voice that drew her in, made her heart flutter...

She listened intently as her girlfriend sang, that loving smile growing as each minute passed, and when the song finally ended, she began clapping.

"That was wonderful, Nanoha."

As Nanoha finished her song, her cheeks were slightly red - both from the performance and, well... from that look on Fate's face. She reached up to scratch at the back of her neck. "A-ah, thanks, Fate-chan. It really wasn't bad?"

"Of course it wasn't!" Fate said. "I wouldn't lie to you about that, would I?"

There's no way that expression could be anything but honest, right?

"Mm, probably not," Nanoha said with a smile, her cheeks still slightly flushed... and then shook her head and held the microphone out to the blonde girl. "Your turn!"

"O-Okay..." Already blushing, Fate took the microphone from Nanoha and scrolled through the songs. She had seen one when her friend had been searching, so she just had to find it again...

Nanoha listened to the song happily, resting her chin in her hands as she watched the blonde girl sing. Fate really did have a strikingly lovely voice - she could listen to this all night.

She couldn't remember where she'd heard the song, but it was... very familiar. Nostalgic, in a way. And she just kept watching Fate sing, applauding with a smile when she finished.

"I... I guess you liked it?" Fate said as she set down the microphone once the song ended, face even more red than before. She knew Nanoha loved to hear her sing; it was the main reason she and the others would always bully her into singing whenever they did this. But it was still a bit embarrassing to see the other girl react the same way after all these years.

"Of course I did, silly." Nanoha beamed at Fate, holding her hands out to take Fate's as the blonde drew near. "I always like hearing you sing! You should really do it more..."

"Well..." Fate took Nanoha's hands, gaze drifting to the floor as she thought it over. She was too shy to sing in front of a group without enough prodding, but...

"If it's in private... I guess I can try doing it more."

Nanoha's face lit up as she squeezed the other girl's hands. "Oh, that'd be great! Do you promise?"

Tsukasa sat down on a couch and placed his feet on an ottoman. He wouldn't be caught dead singing, but Karaoke made for good ~~snark bait~~ fun.

Sasami noticed Tsukasa just sitting there as if he owned the place. Part of her wondered if he was just here to watch or to sing.

"Um, hey!" Sasami called out, waving at the Rider. "You wanna sing?"

"Thank you...no. It's much more entertaining to watch others than participate."

"Aw, c'mon, it's fun!" Sasami said, waving the mike around. "Don't be such a stick in the mud!"

"Is it of that much importance to you that people sing here?" Tsukasa said, pinching the bridge of his nose.

"Besides, I do not sing; I wouldn't even know of any good songs that would capture my essence anyway."

"You don't know that!" Sasami said, smiling. "Besides, we need to do something to get our minds off of what's going on, so...!"

Tsukasa looked at Sasami. Then, he looked to the stage. "If I sing, will you stop pestering me?"

"Okay, I will...!" Sasami said.

He didn't say when and how long, though...

Tsukasa glared at the stage, like it was an enemy to be defeated at all costs. Then, he went over and began searching though the database until he found something that spoke to him. Ride The Wind, by...I think that will work.

Before singing, though, he looked straight to Sasami and said, "I am doing this now, so I do not get stuck doing it later."
