Just Missing a Little Something [OPEN]

Finding her barn and being able to stay at her house were things Cassie didn't think would happen again until after they were done with the yeerk invasion. Arriving here only made her think that she would have to wait longer or never even see them again. It certainly warmed her to find them here, but at the same time it seemed to emphasize what must have happened on her world.

Some nights she would find herself in her barn again. Her memories before anything happened washed over her as she closed her eyes. When she opened her eyes and didn't see the usual sleeping animals or alert eyes of the nocturnal animals, she felt an emptiness.

So today she decided to wander the hydroponics. Looking at the variety of animals and vaguely wondering if she would be able to help out here. There were some animals she had never seen before, but she still felt the same connection to them.

Cassie paused when she noticed Karen. She remembered being told that Aftran was still in her and it made her feel a little weird after everything that they had went through. Still she couldn’t ignore her. She had been wanting to talk to them since she found out they were here and together. “Hello,” she started.

Aftran heard the strange voice from nearby, and turned to see who was there. She smiled a little, and replied, "Hi!" It was clear she didn't recognize Cassie.

"Uh-huh, it's really pretty here." Was that Karen's opinion, or Aftran's? Even she wasn't sure. "The rest of the ship is really weird... It's like being inside a person. Like in that movie we watched in school that one time, did you ever see it? The Incredible... um..." She remembered the title, but she was playing up her appearance for all it was worth.
