Beastboy was for the most part a highly emotional boy, running on lots of energy, irrepressible cheer and a sense of humor that was...unique at best.

But sometimes...sometimes he needed time to think and be quiet. Usually he could do that while playing game station, reading comics or going for a flight.

Today however despite his lack of desire to socialize he had energy to burn. That creepy robo chick had teased him with cake and gotten him all worked up, only to drop him just in time to find out he'd missed a huge fight.

So being the responsible and intelligent hero he imagined he was, Beastboy decided he needed a little training to get back into the swing of combat.

The Sensoriums were awesome in his opinion, like a giant do it yourself video game.

So the scene? Jump City streets just outside the his favorite Pizza parlor.

The enemy? Sladebots! The best for cannon fodder, they were robots so he didn't feel bad about stomping them flat, and they were just scary enough to be a challenge.

This was his right? No way he could lose...

***

Within ten minutes he was being rolled down the street by the over zealous Sladebot projections...his imagination was running away with him.

She nodded, folding her arms carefully once more. "That's correct. About a year ago, one of my men found him in the rain when he was just a puppy," she responded thoughtfully, "and since no one else was fit to take care of him, I wound up taking him in." Riza would never admit she was also a sucker for animals, and children, especially Black Hayate.

you just had to huh? XD ilovedthatepisode

Riza spent a majority of her time in oddities, but when the small creature appeared by her feet (or not so small for his species) she paused and it took all her willpower not to change from that neutral expression. Just what the hell was that thing? She kept herself in check though, as she peered at it.

...Uncertain what to do, she looked up. "He seems very... nice," she responded, eyes falling to the surrounding landscape.

"I take it this is your home, then?"

Laurie is a little surprised to be transported into such a strange scene, especially strange with the Sladebots popping out here and there, and for a moment, she thinks Blade Runner? Before breaking into a run after the green thing that they were rolling down the street.

"Hey! Wait! Stop!" She waves her arms in the air, not exactly the brightest thing to do, but she recognizes that green thing well from that night that she shared a dance with him.

"Trust me, you have no idea," Katara commented, trying not to reflect on exactly how seriously the Firenation could take things. "But you should meet Zuko and Mai, they're firebenders and could give you more accurate information."

When she saw him transform into a penguin, she blinked, confused. "Um, you have the general shape of it right, but the face is all wrong. Pengins look like this."

She took a stick and drew a penguin-otter (http://i92.photobucket.com/albums/l35/avatar_portal/official_pics/c_penguin1.jpg).

Bwahaha. ♥

"Jump City, huh?" she responded thoughtfully, eyes peering through the technologically advanced city compared to her own home. As he spoke of the other building, Riza turned her eyes in it's direction and rose a careful brow. That was an interesting tower, and no doubt Central itself wouldn't have managed something so huge.

"Impressive."

And that it was, considering her own home was set in the early 1900s.

Hayate hunched down again, but instead of growling he looked curiously. Tail not wagging as he sniffed at the weird creature approaching him. Not human... but not homunculi either. Brown eyes peered curiously, paws inching only centimeters closer.

"Oh my!" Laurie quickly rushes to help Beastboy to his feet, pausing to give the Sladebots cross looks (that's right. Fear in terror a little girl's mean glare!) "Garfield, are you alright? Here, lean on me," she takes his arm and puts it around her shoulders.

Katara was glad Beastboy had altered himself to look like the penguin-otter, but now that he was and the snow was starting to fall, she couldn't help herself. She started to move her hands around, and the snow under them started to shift, so that they were now looming over a hill.

"Get ready to be penguin sledded!" Katara said, leaping nimbly on Beastboy, giving him the nudge to go down, with her on top of him. "Geronimo!" she cried, laughing.

Forgive her Beastboy. She'd been playing mom and sister the last few days, it was rare for her to have a kid moment.

Hayate moved closer at the motion, still the pup was wary.

Riza, quietly, examined the masked teenager that had appeared at his name. After a moment, Riza returned her eyes towards Beastboy to listen. She frowned some and shook her head. "That seems to be some sort of general idea. Huge buildings and creations to draw attention," she looked towards the tower, "but I believe in my home it was more a symbolism of power; militaristic country power."

She returned her eyes towards the male. "But of course, we had different ways of doing things," she said, and by we she meant her own team. After all, they worked under a man who guised to be a playboy just so they could be "covert".

"Still... I highly doubt I'll ever get used to seeing cities such as these."

"They were rolling you down a hill like a bunch of bullies!" Again, she gives the Sladebots a cross look. "You imagine that sometimes?" It seemed strange, but then, she's on a ship that eeks Strange.

"Ha ha, yeah!" Katara cheered, steering Beastboy as if she had been doing this all her life (and she had, actually). She moved her arms in a circular motion to move them even faster, so Beastboy should find himself to move them even faster, as if the snow has somehow gotten more slick.

Laurie looks at the Sladebots and feels a chill racing down her spine. They remind her of sentinels - large robotic weapons used to track down and exterminate mutant kind.

"Well, if you say so..." She looks around her at the city, up and down, over and out, and then back at Beastboy sheepishly. "So, is this your home?"

[identity profile] terribly2shy.livejournal.com 2010-07-06 02:02 pm (UTC)(link)
Laurie chuckled at Beastboy's excitement. He never seemed down for long - coming right back up with a fresh smile and a joke. It's really nice, considering that she's still unsure on her footing on Stacy.

She looks at one of the advertisement signs above her and squints. "I've never heard of a Jump City in California." She looks back down at Beastboy. "So maybe its something just special to your world." She glances at another building. "...but it still is nice."

"I don't really know about that. I haven't really tried out the sensoriums yet." Everytime she enters, there's always someone in here. Like Julian...Beastboy... "But I guess if it's like a simulation chamber..." like the Danger Room "...then you might be right."
