fly me to the moon, let me play among the stars [OPEN]

Tycho was glad the squadron had so many new recruits, and he certainly didn't mind the sizable increase in his work-load that went along with it. After all, that's what his job as squadron XO was; making sure everything was organized. Still though, when it came down to it, Tycho was a pilot. He felt far more comfortable in the cockpit of a fighter than he did anywhere else.

Today, today he could use the distraction of some demanding piloting. Today, he wanted to go fast.

The sensoriums resolved themselves into the familiar hanger bay of the Mon Cal star cruiser Home One. The atmosphere was tense, buzzing with the familiar adrenaline high of before a major battle. With a grin, Tycho hoisted himself into the cockpit of his temporary ship, an A-Wing. Expertly, his fingers flicked over the controls, even as he logged into his squadron's com channel. "Green three has four lit and ready when you are," he informed Green Leader. Then they were off, forming up in a screen with the other fighters, ready to make the short jump to Endor.

Back in realspace, the fighter screen streamed towards the half finished Death Star, until there was Lando's voice on the coms, barking at them to pull back. It was a trap, the Death Star's shields were still up- even knowing it was coming, Tycho's stomach still clenched. But now, now here's where the fun part came in. He allowed himself a small smile as his craft turned to engage the oncoming wave of TIE-fighters. His A-Wing danced, his A-Wing soared, and TIE after TIE met their ends.

Tycho was a different pilot than he had been at the actual Battle of Endor 9 years earlier. He was older, more experienced. Still, he got the same joy out of flying that he always had, that same feeling of this is what I was meant to do.

[OOC: if anyone wants to come in and observe the battle, or hop in another fighter and join in, that's cool! Tycho's mostly just vapin some Imps to blow off steam. If you're not familiar with the Battle of Endor (the fight against the second Death Star) the video is here]

Tsukasa wandered in, coming into a hanger bay. I'm not going to run into a certain red-haired girl again, am I? He thought as he looked around.

"Huh, no one...oh, there is someone here." He said, when he looked outside and saw an A-Wing dueling some TIEs. He chuckled to himself as he pulled out his buckle. This could be interesting. He thought, placing it upon his waist, belt extending and RideBooker appearing.

"Henshin." He said, after pulling out and inserting his Decade card; a second later, Kamen Rider Decade stood where Tsukasa Kadoya had before. Summoning up a mental image, the Sensorium responded with a very good copy of Kamen Rider Agito. In addition, there a a revving noise as two golden cards appeared in his hands.

"This might tickle a little." He said, slotting one of the cards into his Buckle. *FINAL FORM RIDE! A-A-AGITO!* Rang out, and the holographic Agito changed into the Agito Tornader.

Decade jumped on it, and surfed out into space, pulling up beside Tycho's A-Wing. He tossed a little two-fingered salute as way of greeting.

[identity profile] capture-worlds.livejournal.com 2010-06-12 03:53 am (UTC)(link)
Normally, Decade doesn't have a radio receiver in his helmet. The Sensoriums, though, apparently provide one when necessary. So, hearing Tycho's voice inside it was...disconcerting, for all of a second.

"'Unidentified?' I'm Decade. Kamen Rider Decade. Remember that." And for sheer emphasis, Decade pulled out his RideBooker and switched it into a gun. One *ATTACK RIDE! BLAST!* later, a TIE fighter blew up from a hail of laser fire.

[identity profile] capture-worlds.livejournal.com 2010-06-14 03:51 am (UTC)(link)
Something...bothered him about being ignored. Like Decade wasn't the star or something.

So, he slotted the other golden card the Sensorium had been kind enough to provide to him, and *FINAL ATTACK RIDE! A-A-AGITO!* rang out over the communication systems. A golden version of the Agito crest appeared underneath Decade, and he changed his RideBooker into a sword.

He zipped through the TIEs, hacking off wings, slicing them in half, etc. As he flew through the explosions, one could almost see the confidence. "Well, I believe that just about TIEs things up for this area...'Green Three,' was it?"

[identity profile] capture-worlds.livejournal.com 2010-06-14 04:15 am (UTC)(link)
Decade chuckled. "Knocking myself out in space seems...a poor idea, Mr. Green Three." After switching his RideBooker back to a gun he, almost idly, shot out the cockpit of a TIE fighter, which promptly proceeded to crash into one of the TIE Interceptors Tycho was going after.

"Well, that was a happy coincidence."

(OOC: My apologies. Feel free to fully ignore that post. Again, I apologize for that)

Following the holier-than-thou XO led Shinn to the Sensoriums once again. This time, though, the room was already in use as an unfamiliar hangar, reeking of lubricants and some sort of fuel, and ringing with alarm klaxons and barked orders. Outside – there wasn’t even an air-lock, just a faintly shimmering window to the stars – he could see strangely shaped ships swarming around a nearby moon, exchanging a colorful web of plasma fire.

There was a ship in front of him, a tiny fighter that looked like it was all engines. A split second later, he recognized it as an A-Wing. Looked like the XO was gunning to relive his glory days. Whatever. Shinn wouldn’t let that idiot’s joyride stop him from testing one of these speedsters. He scrambled up the ladder and into the cockpit, noticing with a grimace that his red and white normal suit had been swapped out for something eye-searingly orange. He half-listened to the instructions coming over the comm systems, matching the controls before him to the ones he’d seen on the omnicomm’s specs. Compared to a mobile suit, the weapons were fairly limited – but they made up for it by being exponentially more powerful. It wasn’t a terrible trade-off. He launched when they told him to launch, flew when they told him to fly, and – what, wanted them to fall back? What kind of simulation broke off in the middle of an attack run?

His friend-or-foe system was a wave of red as he pulled away, and the comm system erupted with chatter . It looked like this was where the simulation got interesting. He targeted one of the nearest enemy blips and fired at the wing-like part to one side – damn! He hit his mark, but the compact little fighter just veered off course. He fired again, clipping its other wing after a few stray shots, but it still didn’t blow. Where was this thing’s weak spot? He fired dead in the center, hoping to at least take out the cockpit, and a salvo later was rewarded with a gratifying fireball, which his hurtling fighter had to swerve awkwardly to avoid. Halfway through the maneuver, a high-pitched alarm went off behind him, and the display lit up with a warning that an enemy fighter had locked on to him. Ignoring the imperative how did the ship know, anyway?, he pulled up hard to face off his opponent, and realized a heartbeat later that he couldn’t whip around instantly. The enemy fighter followed reverse-turn easily, still locked on.

So shaking the thing wouldn’t work. He embarked on an erratic, evasive course to buy some time, jinking and juking wildly to avoid the constant streams of hostile fire. If he could get to an enemy capital ship, he might be able to pull something off, but – dammit! Running away from an enemy was the worst!

There's a sudden flash of bright red laser fire past Shinn's fighter and an X-wing in Rogue Squadron markings came blazing down from overhead to incinerate the enemy fighter in a sudden attack. The fighter rolled over to one side and then popped up onto the A-wing's wing with a waggle of its wings. Wedge's voice crackled over the comms, a bit distorted by battlefield interference.

"Doing alright, Green Nine?" Wedge turned his head and waved at Shinn from the cockpit, smiling.

"How do you like the A-wing?"

[identity profile] on-an-impulse.livejournal.com 2010-06-11 08:57 pm (UTC)(link)
"I was doing fine!" he snapped. "I had it under control!" He punched a few angry shots off at one of the enemy ships.

"Of course. It's just handy to have some help on hand." Wedge rolled over to sit comfortably on Asuka's wing, managing to keep up with him for now.

"A-wings are fast little ships, but too finicky for me."

[identity profile] on-an-impulse.livejournal.com 2010-06-14 02:08 am (UTC)(link)
"Nothing's too fast for me!" Like hell was he going to let this guy tail him for the whole simulation. Shinn pulled back on the throttle and kept after his target fighter, pulling off some sort of shot that sent it veering wildly in a new direction.

Stars surrounded him, and so much more. It was clearly a battle simulation, though it wasn't any battle that Kira was familiar with - and the ships certainly weren't anything he'd ever seen before. But the scene before him, filled with flashes of light and bursts of oddly serene fire, was something he knew entirely too well.

No, wait. He knew some of those fighters flying past him where he was suspended in midair, viewing the scene as from the perspective of a god. They were the X-Wings, weren't they? Was this one of the Rogues in a training session?

...it might be a good idea to fly with other members of the squadron. With a thought, Kira found himself in his flight suit, and the Strike Freedom materialized around him, system booting up far quicker than it would have in reality.

He keyed the communications unit, hesitating for a moment before speaking - who was in here, anyway? "This is Kira Yamato," he said. "I hope I'm not interrupting anything for whoever is flying in here right now."

[identity profile] on-an-impulse.livejournal.com 2010-06-11 08:58 pm (UTC)(link)
"You interrupt everything!" Shinn snapped into the comm system.

[personal profile] jesushasagundam 2010-06-11 10:14 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, that answered part of that question. Somehow, he didn't think this was Shinn's simulation, though. "You're exaggerating. Why do you think I was asking?"

A pause. "Is this one of General Antilles' scenarios?" The mystery fighters still flew past him - or through him, even - as if he didn't exist where he hovered in space.

He recognized the voice - it was the Colonel's, then. "If you wouldn't mind, sir, I'd like to start getting a feel for things."

A mental command, and the Strike Freedom suddenly turned solid, the familiar red, blue and gold hissing across its skin as the Phase Shift armor activated. Kira scanned the fracas, trying to (rather fruitlessly) find the Colonel.

Behind! He spun reflexively, seeing one of the bent-wing fighters coming his way, bearing down on him from behind - It's fast... - and drawing his beam rifle, shooting twice in rapid succession to smartly clip the wings off of the ball-like core.

"Understood, sir." Kira pushed the throttle to maximum, trying to keep pace with the zippy little fighter. "What's our objective?" He could roughly tell from his sensors whose side he was on - and that the massive white wedges were the enemy - but war rarely boiled down to "destroy everyone on the other side."

Green laser fire lanced toward him, and he almost lazily rolled to the side to dodge it.

Wedge ducked through the sensorium doorway and found himself in the familiar hangar bay of Home One. He glanced around, looking out the mag-con field to the flashing lights of the ongoing battle and the moon below. Endor. Someone was running the Endor sim. Hm. He quickly brought his ship into being and scrambled aboard after a quick pre-flight check. In a minute he was out into space, sending his x-wing into a quick roll as he found himself rapidly engaged by enemy fighters. He keyed his comm.

"Red Leader to Green Three, what's the situation?" Of course, he already knew. He had been here, had fought the battle again in sims and his own mind over and over.
