The sensoriums had been set to look like an empty hangar in which a couple X-Wings sat. Tycho had no idea what else the engineers would need for their initial planing phase, but he figured whatever it was, they could tell the sensorium to create it themselves.

He conjured himself up a crate to sit on, and scrolled through some squadron numbers on his datapad as he waited for everyone to arrive.

"Now that we've all introduced ourselves, I think we can get down to business. I'm going to be turning things over to Wyn, who as Rogue Squadron's chief mechanic, will be in charge of this project."

Tycho turned to the petite blond. "Wyn? The floor's yours."

"Okay, so." Wyn clapped her hands, grinning excitedly at the room. "This project is really sort of a combination of a couple of smaller projects. First of all, we're going to try and upgrade the engines of all of the Gundams in order to bring them more in line with the capabilities of the X-Wings. I'm not sure about the specifications of individual Gundams just yet, but we need to get them achieving a reasonable fraction of lightspeed-- and that's going to either necessitate installing some kind of reconstruction of the fusial thrust engine to replace the Gundams' primary engines or just upgrading the existing engine to achieve speeds that are basically comparable to the X-Wings.

"The second thing is that we're going to have to install weaponry on the transport shuttle, which apparently should have guns on it but doesn't right now. Since that's the ship that'll be responsible for ferrying all of the pilots in and out of danger, and it's kind of... not the fastest ship in existence, having guns on the shuttle would be a good thing."

"There are a couple of other things that'll need doing eventually, such as upgrading the shielding tech on the Gundams, tweaking the X-Wings a bit, and upgrading just about everything on the shuttle, but the first two projects are priority one right now."

"Anyone have any questions so far?"

"What experience have you got with this tech?"

And someone just asked the one question that Wyn really didn't want to answer.

"Sorry, I probably should have clarified that. I meant questions related to the plan I just spent five minutes outlining, not to my CV, but since you asked: I've been Rogue Squadron's chief mechanic since its inception, so I'd say I'm reasonably well-qualified on systems of that nature. I'm not as experienced on Gundams as I'd like to be, but that's why we requested the Gundam pilots be here; you know your machines better than I do at this point, so there's no reason not to consult you about the plan." Wyn says, narrowing her eyes at the pilot who had spoken.

"Any other questions?"

"What did you do before you podpopped?" She wasn't as obnoxious as the XO, but he wasn't going to let anyone root around with Destiny's systems.

"I was a mechanical engineer, next question please." Wyn says, all in one breath. She's not supposed to be the focus of this meeting, despite the fact that she's standing at the front of the room.

"With what sort of tech?" he pressed.

"Did you actually have any questions about the upgrade plans, or are they all related to my CV somehow?"

"Shinn," Kira interjected sharply like a beam shot through the Minerva's positron cannon, throwing a hard look at the younger pilot.

He looked back at Wyn. "I think it's understandable that we don't want any damage done to our machines," he admitted, "But we're getting ahead of ourselves with that, when we don't know the exact specifics of the plans yet. I did have one question for right now, though."

"I spent some time using the Sensorium to recreate battles from the world the General and Colonel are from," Kira said, "And while in combat, it doesn't look like your fighters are going that much faster than our top speeds... but it's fast enough - I ran some calculations, and the G-forces should be more than any human could take without falling unconscious. What are we going to do about that?"

"The X-Wings have an inertial dampener system which allows them to accelerate quickly without crushing their pilots with g-forces, and it's probable that we'll be able to come up with a similar system for the Gundams." Wyn says, grateful for the interruption.

Shinn grumped.

"All right," he nodded, though he wasn't exactly sure how that would work according to the laws of physics.

"One other thing: Even if the combat speeds are within reach... the cruising speed of the X-Wings is much, much higher than anything we have - we're nowhere close. If we have to fly long ranges, we'll never catch up. Do we have any plans to cover something like that?"

That said, he didn't think that they would be flying far from Stacy, but it never hurt to plan.

Wyn is a mad scientist; the laws of physics are mostly optional when she builds things.

"I'm not sure how much long-distance flying the squadron will actually be doing, but in case you do, we could try and make some sort of booster-engine system, maybe. I'm open to suggestions, though." Wyn says after a moment.

Shinn glanced at Kira. "That's fine. He probably has specs for them already."

Kira met Shinn's glance, knowing what he was thinking. "Building full-fledged METEORs might be a bit much for what we have," he admitted - though he'd have to check if they had any in storage - "But we might be able to retool something from the blueprints."

Dean then yelled, "Yeah, how soon we're being brought up to speed on these babies?"

"The X-Wings or the Gundams? For X-Wings and the shuttle, talk to me after the meeting. For Gundams... um, it's gonna be a learning process for everyone who doesn't currently drive a giant robot." Wyn says, wincing internally at Dean's volume.

"Any of them, and all right, I will." Sorry, he was trying to yell over the douche who apparently had his panties in a wad about his special robot.

"When do we start?" Nanashi knew better than to take apart something that she couldn't put back together, but that did not mean that she was not impatient to watch others work and explain the systems.

How many years had it been since she had the chance to learn something completely new?
