Kenobi!

Vader's eyes snapped open as he jerked to consciousness, his last memory of Kenobi's smirk burnt into his memory. The treacherous Jedi had thwarted him again. Why he was not dead was beyond him, but the second time Kenobi had left him for dead without having the stomach to actually finish the deed would be the last.

His mouth curled disdainfully as he surveyed his surroundings. It may have been foreign, but he recognized a medcenter when he saw one-- and liked it as little as he liked any other. The ventilator tubes had been reinserted into his nose, and he began to examine the large machine he was bound to. He could, in theory, take it apart and convert it into something more manageable. He had no idea if his kidnappers ever intended to return his suit and lightsaber. If he wanted his revenge on Kenobi and reclaim his son (his son-- no, he had to put that out of his mind), he would have to act quickly, before the...ship...realized his intentions.

"Then perhaps amusement? To stand over me and proclaim that the Jedi have once again evaded the swift hand of justice? For now, perhaps. Enjoy your gloating while you can."

"Not really," he frowned. "I never met you, so... I thought I should."

"I trust the experience is sufficiently underwhelming," Vader replied.

"I didn't say that."

"Then out with it!" Vader growled. "What is it you want from me? I can tell with you no more than I can tell with my son!"

"Just to talk. Family stuff."

Vader pulled himself into a seated position, resting his chin on his hands.

"Kenobi stole your father from me- even when we are reunited, he is lost to me. It is good that you are willing to thwart him."

"That's not really what I was going for."

"Then what?! Clearly, you wish for me to make the first move here, but I cannot give you what you want from me! Do you wish to make small talk? Perhaps tell me why you insist on throwing yourself into the gaping maw of certain death?!"

"Small talk, and because saving the universe has pretty much turned into a family tradition."

"Arrogance will do you no good," Vader said, shaking an admonishing finger with each word. "If you truly wish to save the universe, you would leave the Jedi to their squabbling and join me."

"You have a better plan for saving the universe?"

"I would rather see the Universe and every world in it in ruins than see one firmly under the thumb of the Jedi," he snarled.

"No living things, no Force," he pointed out lightly.

"And infinite expanse of nothing at all," Vader mused. "Perhaps that is the only way to bring peace to the Galaxy."

"Nothing isn't peace."

"How so? There is no fighting. There is no blood spilt."

"And no one around to enjoy that."

Vader shrugged.

"I have heard that death is the ultimate peace. It is logical to assume that it is preferable than scraping out a living in a broken galaxy."

"I've talked to dead people," Ben said quietly. "They'd rather be alive with us."

This piqued Vader's interest. "How? How have you spoken with the dead?"

"Dad and I were wandering around." No real reason to say who they'd talked to.

"Really," Vader said. "That is not...entirely convincing."
