Destroy everything, connect everything.

Decade leaned against his Machine Decader, recalling the small amount of research he had done into the Blue Ranger.

After seeing the training sessions Mr. Cranston was in, he needs some help. Since we're generally similar in powers and abilities, what works for me should work for him. If not...well, I'm sure this place has excellent safety protocols.

He stretched, waiting for the Blue Ranger to arrive.

All right, Billy, Quick and strong hits. Don't get too close in range, be prepared to evade again should he make sudden movements to get up.

Goldar is kicked on the way down as payback, and the prongs of the lance are slammed toward elbows and kneecaps. As forceful as he can make it.

Well aware of the dangers of cockiness, Billy did not smile under the helmet. He danced back, slammed the lance over the elbows to drive the arms down, and kicked hard.

Honor was out the window. He was wary, knowing full well that even the much better trained Jason had had trouble fighting Goldar alone.

"Right!"

With his odd-sounding battle cry ringing through the air, the Blue Ranger launched into a powerful kick, lance angled to give his push more leverage. Oh, how he wished the team was around with the Power Blaster right now.

Kazami gives Decade a look. "Triceratops Kick?"

Huh---that was surprising. Goldar didn't tend to explode. Perhaps it was a side effect of the slight differences caused by the simulation.

"Like most attributes, weight can be a strength or a weakness. If a heavier opponent is fighting similarly, he'll win because his blows have more force behind them. A faster opponent needs to land more hits to succeed, but they can endure by minimizing the opponents' chances for retaliation."

Taking a breath, he adds: "My friends and I have never fared very well against Goldar. We're at a significant strength disadvantage, even when morphed. Even the full team can't defeat him comfortably. Under those conditions, I had to press the opportunities for attack that I could. We weren't taught to fight quite so brutally, but knowing how disadvantaged I was pressured me to change tactics."

He glances back and forth from Kazami to Decade. "...Triceratops Kick?"

Kazami shrugs loosely, clapping a hand to Decade's shoulder. "You're the one teaching the man. I figure that makes it your duty. I'm just the audience."

The audience who gives advice.

By now, Billy had removed the helmet in order to breathe some unobstructed air. The confusion about the 'Triceratops Kick' was quite obvious on his face. Decade's tone made him wonder what was so strange about that kick.

"Thank you. I've been so single-mindedly focused on the necessity of being able to fight without my powers that I've let them fall into disuse. I'll be more careful to focus on both forms of training from now on, and I definitely want to practice those lance tricks sometime soon."

After a quietly awkward moment, he turned to Kazami and asked "Why doesn't he want to discuss it? Is there a cultural expectation that I'm not aware of?"

[identity profile] twin-fans.livejournal.com 2010-06-06 12:27 am (UTC)(link)
Kazami chuckles, shaking his head. "Oh, no. I think he just doesn't want to explain how, out of all the worlds, the same technique keeps popping up."

"It's not too strange," Billy shrugged. "My identity hasn't been a secret since I was rescued, so I have friends I know well who would play a similar role if our positions were reversed."

Glancing at Kazami once and then back to Tsukasa, he decided some reassurance was in order. "But your tone and phrasing suggests otherwise. I promise that I won't tell anyone else about either of you. To reveal yourselves or not is your choice and no one else's." This part is said with a raised eyebrow at Tsukasa.

"I lived under those rules for most of my career as a Ranger, so I've had some practice with covering for people."

Congratulations, Decade, you've successfully steered the conversation away from the strange phenomenon of Rider Kicks.

"Well, Decade, what do you think?" Kazami raises an eyebrow. "He's already convinced that I'm some kind of superhero." He blames comic books, really.

And Decade. This is his fault for pushing the idea that Kazami might be something special. Kazami will remember this, Decade, oh yes. Don't be surprised if an eyepatch appears in your future.

"I'll say nothing more about it," he says with a slight smile. Seconds later, hands touch the belt buckle and he de-morphs in a flash of white light.

At the mention of study, he nods. "I will, thank you. I'll call as soon as I'm ready."

After one last appreciative smile, he's headed for the door. Perhaps he's a little wiser and not too much worse for the wear.

"There goes a man with no free time on his hands." Kazami shakes his head and pushes away from his bike, dismissing it from the sensoriums. "If you've got nothing for me, I need to get to the hangar bay. I'm almost halfway through tuning up the motorcycles in there."

It's a very time consuming project, but it keeps him busy and it keeps his mind off of things.
