Reduce, Reuse, Recycle [Open]

It was, literally, something out of a nightmare.

It was a suit of armor that Lex had found in the vehicle bays, that had his name on it. In fact, it had the LexCorp logo plastered all over it.

Its very existence offended him, on a number of levels. Which was why that suit was on a large concrete slab, and Lex was holding a blowtorch. There were also a number of other tools scattered about his feet.

He was going to tear that thing apart, and see if he could make something useful out of it.

Not too far off, Kaylee was playing tune-up with Serenity. It didn't matter how many times she went over the ship, there was always something that needed adjustment.

The armor caught her eye as she walked around the front of her ship. Repairing or disassembling, the mechanic couldn't really resist the opportunity to get to know someone else's tech better.

She walked over, wiping her hands off on a rag and eying the armor, and smiled at Lex. "Mind if I watch?"

[identity profile] voiceofserenity.livejournal.com 2010-05-02 12:02 am (UTC)(link)
Kaylee shrugged--man had a point. She leaned toward the suit for just a moment, looking closer at it, before straightening back up. A grin.

"Alright then, would you mind a helper?"

"Two secondary colors?" Angie had a hand on her hip, looking over the armor with a faint moue of distaste. "Probably not the best stylistic choice in the world. Two primary colors would have made a better statement. Or complimentary colors." A pause, then, "Then again, red and green would make the armor look like a Christmas tree. Though yellow and purple could have been an all right look.

"Do you want some help taking it apart?" God knew they could use the scrap.

"Everybody goes with black. Though the blue trim is new. The greater majority of people seem to pair black with red." She floated closer, grimacing. "Yeah, not exactly the best design I've ever seen. Entirely too top-heavy. Was it based off the robot from Lost in Space?"

She shifted around and nodded. "Take off the limbs first, most likely. Easier to take them apart in little pieces."

"Spiffy robot suit," Spike said, ambling up. "The color scheme's a bit glaring, but I'll bet you get serious firepower there."

Spike walked closer and looked it over. He had pretty much no idea how it worked.

"Could be useful. Are you dismantling it? Cause I'll take it if you don't want it."

Cassie didn't usually go in this area but she was taking a look around at things and followed the sound.

And when she saw Lex... well, she just folded her arms and watched for a moment. While she thought about what to do, snark or leave.

She really should leave. Really. Nothing good could come of this. It didn't help those were Kang the Conqueror colors.

"So just where did this idea come from?" She asked loudly, so he could hear her.

Lex might be surprised when a smoke ring -- purple, as a matter of fact -- floats in front of his face, with no visible or smellable source.

Several moments later, a smoke... dragon -- also purple -- zips by in the same direction, corkscrewing through the air. It loops back around, arcing into a dive and puffing out of existence as it collides with the armor he is in the process of dismembering. An odd, round-ish bat with disproportionate wings follows it in its demise, as does a deformed onion, a broomstick, and a fish, all made of smoke, all purple, and all coming from someone or something that is always just out of his line of sight.

Until Luna stops playing games, and peers over his shoulder very obviously, head tilted.

"Why are you taking it apart?"

[identity profile] isee-snorkacks.livejournal.com 2010-05-02 03:11 pm (UTC)(link)
"There isn't a rule where I'm from," she says, her wand appearing to puff out a purple mandrake root. She doesn't seem bothered that he hasn't answered her question, choosing instead to lower a pair of odd glasses from the top of her head and peer at him intently.

"Oh! Well, that would explain it, wouldn't it?" It's unclear whether she's talking to herself or if she means this to be conclusive evidence as to his... something. Maybe it has something to do with the armor.

Jamie's down here once again, poking his nose into places it shouldn't be. What Lex is doing certainly seems to fulfill that particular directive, so he wanders up to take a peek. He makes a rather disgusted sounding noise as he catches sight of the color scheme.

"Ye could always throw it out through the airlock and save yourself the trouble, ye know."
bonnypiperlad: (seriously?)

[personal profile] bonnypiperlad 2010-05-03 04:40 am (UTC)(link)
Jamie can see the wisdom in that. "Aye, that's true." Even if the thing is ugly as sin.

He hesitates, then shrugs. Might as well offer to help. "Look, since I'm here, did ye need me to hand ye anything?"

Daja hadn't spend much time in the vehicle bay - her days were spent mostly in the forge - but the lure or mysterious machine and strange metals was too much to resist, and so she had decided to take a walk though the bay, to admire the many creations within it.

When she found a man destroying a metal suit, not even it's curious construction could stop her from wincing at the design. It may be...practical...but it lacked beauty.

But rather than intruding, Daja just stood to one side, leaning on her staff, and watching politely from a distance.

[[ooc: I should note: Daja has the ability to sense metals. So, if there's any unusual metals or whatnot in the suit, she'd be able to pick it up]]

[personal profile] fireforger 2010-05-03 05:08 am (UTC)(link)
Daja knew that interrupting wouldn't be strictly polite, but...after a few moments of watching, she couldn't help her curious.

"I'm sorry to bother you, but...may I ask if you are intending to reuse the materials?"

Lex Luthor and his blowtorch were one thing, at least, and that was loud. Motoko lived in Neuropathy as much as she lived anywhere at all, and with the adjoining connection to Engineering she had nearly everything she needed to survive in one place.

But even she wandered sometimes, under the guise or truth of curiosity. That, or she was scouting vehicles to dismantle and harvest for parts. Engineering had been more and more stingy of late— bastards. Of course that didn't quite explain the corporate autopsy Lex seemed to be perpetrating.

"Having fun?" She asked, archly, and cocked a hip to watch him as he worked.

[identity profile] standaloneshell.livejournal.com 2010-05-04 03:49 am (UTC)(link)
One of the armor panels nearest the edge of the table caught the Major's attention— it was marked. The logo, no doubt from its manufacturer read, quite clearly, "Lexcorp?"

Now she examined the debris with a critical eye, reconstruction running in red and green behind her eyes. The suit's original form was...less than optimum, and seeing it gutted gave even more insight into how painfully simple it would be to outclass or out maneuver such a thing. Motoko folded her arms.

"That's just pathetic."
