it's a piece of cake to bake a pretty cake [closed to kidlets besides Roxie and Billy]

Yuri examined the ingredients spread out on the metal table. A big bowl (formerly for mixing chemicals), flour (dried Stacy glop), assorted fruits, eggs, sugar and other miscellaneous things (from the holiday expedition) and a recipe printout from the media library. She put her palms on the table and spoke as authoratively as she could.

"OK! First we have to mix the batter!"

Sherry raised her eyebrow at the fruit joining what she assumed were regular ingredients to cake making. "That's fine, but... what's the fruit for? What kind of cake are we making?" And did it really need to be out of dried goop?

"Where did it come from?" Fletcher eyed the fruit and eggs suspiciously. "I thought there wasn't real food here..."

"I think they brought a bit back when some of us went to do a mission." Sherry patted her bag, "They came back with presents, too."

"Oh, I see..." Now he remembered people returning with clothes... and cookies. That made sense. "So we're making a fruitcake?"

Sherry wrinkled her nose, "I hope not." She glanced at Yuri, "We're not making fruitcake, are we?" She was certain that Yuri could at least agree with the universal truth that fruitcakes were terrible.

Vivio looked at the items in front of her, listened to what Sherry and Fletcher had mentioned and had to wonder the same thing.

"We can't be making fruitcake! It's... too late, really..."

Though it annoyed her, Alessa was walking with a cane at this point. She hadn't quite recovered yet, and until that happened she needed to steady herself. Normally she wouldn't have bothered going anywhere and would have stayed in the factory, but there was something about the kidlets that made her hate them less, so she was here. She had enough strength to stay in her human guise since she'd rested, so she figured she could be here without scaring anyone.

"Batter," Alessa murmured. What the hell was that?
She cared little about the fruit.

"Oh good," Sherry sighed and but gave another dubious glance at the Stacy-flour. "...But what's it going to taste like if we're using that, I wonder?" The glop itself tasted awful, she just hoped there was enough sugar and frosting to overwhelm it.

"I'll... let you guys go first." She was better with little things, anyway. Detail work, falling into holes...

"Um..." Fletcher leaved forward to peer at the recipe. He supposed the flour should go in first, but he was wary of it. He measured it out and poured in the proper amount, eyeing it suspiciously.

Luckily, while they were talking about the fruit, Alessa had hobbled over to the ingredients and looked through, nodding to herself. She then walked over to a separate part of a table to start beating the butter until it was soft, then adding the appropriate amount of sugar and egg white according to its portion.

She looked completely serious as she did this too, as if it were a solemn task indeed, then looked up. "None of you were injured too badly in the fight, were you?"

"Sore... and I'm still kinda feeling it, though..." Vivio said, opting to watch and make sure Fletcher didn't mess up with the 'flour'. "I've exercised plenty before, but... I wasn't in such a big fight like that before."

Well, not counting the time she ended up fighting her own MOM, but still...

"What do we put in next, Yuri?" asks Vega, trying to peer at the list over her shoulder.

"Can it be my turn?"

[identity profile] in-venting.livejournal.com 2010-03-20 04:10 am (UTC)(link)
"I hit a wall," Sherry replied. "But I'm mostly okay," she took a step to the side, as Vega came to the bowl. Oh yes, she knew exactly what he was like in Chemistry class, and with his affinity for making things explode...

Well, she'd just be over here, thanks. "What does the oven need to be set to?" She asked and looked at the device they were supposed to be cooking with.

"I'm already doing the butter," Alessa reminded Yuri. "He might want to do something else, like help Fletcher with the flour."

She could tell from the girl's subtle glances that Vega might not be the best at cooking and mixing chemicals.

"Were you thrown at the wall?" Alessa inquired. "There were a lot of demons where my team was. We had to fight pretty viciously."

[identity profile] in-venting.livejournal.com 2010-03-21 09:42 pm (UTC)(link)
"Sure, if you count the wind as the aggressor." Sherry shrugged and winced. "I hit my head, but that's gone now, and I slept through most of my treatment, anyway." Though, now that she thought about it, that was probably dangerous.

Oh well, no worse for wear.

Alessa smiled. "I would have preferred to face your foe then," she said. There were still a few visible scratches and cuts from the battle that were still healing. "Though you might want to get checked out every now and again. This will ensure nothing will come of the injuries you already have. I told something similar to Roxie. I was just glad she recovered from...that."
