Friendly Fire

Elsewhere on this ship, a war was being waged. A war for the hearts and minds, the souls and very sanity of this crew.

A war that Stacy wasn't certain that all would survive, hence why she released you. Replacements would be needed.

But that war is miles away from where you are. Or at least, so it seems. There are no screams of agony to greet you, no monsters trying to claw at you.

But that doesn't mean the Nightmare King can't reach you.

Prior to your arrival here on the Obs deck, reality had been shifted. Constructs of the current crew grew out of nothing. All of them look, sound, feel, behave, and scan as the crew member they're copying. They're as real as you are. And with smiling faces, they await your arrival.

They can't wait to welcome you. To your doom.

Won't you say hi?

[ooc: Nightmare plot is still on, people, and this is the newbie portion. For all current players, as stated above, the Nightmare King made copies of your guys, who are still stuck fighting nightmares elsewhere in the plot. You can tag in as the copy of your character, have them be friendly, get the newbies to let their guard down, and then the real nightmare can begin. Newbies, you can tag in, have fun, and suspect nothing until its too late.]

[Only new characters and Command Staff can start new threads for introductions, to limit the number of threads. Everyone else, just tag in and have the copies of your guys greet the newbies.]

Tycho had somehow gotten separated from Leia in the vine room, and to say he was not happy about it would be an understatement. His best bet for finding her again was to move forward, and so he'd cautiously continued forwards to the weapons and possessions lockers. There he'd been confused but happy to trade his plant suit for his orange x-wing flightsuit. The fact that he'd been given back his blaster as well threw him- if he really was in Imperial captivity, giving him a weapon didn't make sense. Was it a trick to put him off his guard? That seemed like a stretch, but Tycho couldn't come up with a better explanation- the idea that Stacy was exactly what she claimed to be never crossed his mind.

It is a very cautious and wary Tycho that enters the observation deck, blaster drawn, looking for any signs of danger. Feel free to talk to him, but don't expect him to believe anything you say, not easily at least.

Robert was standing off to one side, revolver on his belt as usual. Of course, this wasn't the usual Robert. That one was refighting a war he had thought he was done with twenty years ago on another part of the ship. This other Robert just smiled and headed towards the man with the drawn weapon.

"Welcome aboard Stacy. I don't think you'll be needing that. Not right away, at least."

[identity profile] sonofalderaan.livejournal.com 2010-03-14 06:44 pm (UTC)(link)
Tycho spun, blaster firmly pointed at this newcomer's chest. "I think I'll keep it out, if it's all the same," he said with a brief smile. His stance gave the appearance of relaxing slightly, but his aim never wavered. Tycho's attention had been caught by the man's last words. "... not right away?" he asked carefully.

[identity profile] bostonbeatcop.livejournal.com 2010-03-14 06:48 pm (UTC)(link)
"Well, you see, we're here board Stacy to fight an inter-dimensional war against an enemy bigger than anything you've ever dreamed of." That part was true at least.

"But at the same time, the crew is kind of...restless. It's good to keep something close at hand in case some of the more violent folks start acting out." The faux-Robert patted the revolved on his hip. "There's not really anyone in charge, and Stacy lets us do what we please, as long as we fall in line when she needs us."

[identity profile] sonofalderaan.livejournal.com 2010-03-14 06:55 pm (UTC)(link)
"Mmmhmmm," Tycho said slowly. "And this inter-dimensional enemy we're supposed to be fighting ... have you actually seen them?"

He filed the information about the crew away- just because this man was probably lying to him didn't mean everything he said wasn't true. Tycho eyed the weapon at his hip with some interest. "That's ... not like any blaster I've ever seen," he noted.

[identity profile] bostonbeatcop.livejournal.com 2010-03-14 06:57 pm (UTC)(link)
"Not yet. But other members of the crew have seen a world they attacked." Robert shrugged. He was just here to tell him what he could. Why couldn't Tycho see that? He raised a hand and gently pushed the blaster away.

"If you don't mind not pointing that at me, I'll explain why that is." He smiled easily. Nothing to worry about, after all.

[identity profile] sonofalderaan.livejournal.com 2010-03-14 07:08 pm (UTC)(link)
"I don't exactly have a reason to trust you," Tycho pointed out. "But I can be reasonable." He pointed the blaster to the side of Robert. "There," Tycho said, "that better?" The blaster's safety was still off, and Tycho could have it back on target in a split second. He smiled reassuringly back though, letting his stance look relaxed and easy. Someone who'd been in a lot of fights would recognize that he was still completely at the ready though, his stance only giving the appearance of casual.

"Any explanation you have for me, I'd love to hear it."

[identity profile] bostonbeatcop.livejournal.com 2010-03-14 07:16 pm (UTC)(link)
Robert slowly drew his weapon, holding it loosely and pointed down and to the side.

"It's not a blaster. It's a firearm. Uses bullets and cartridges." He almost casually flicked the cylinder out of the weapon and removed a cartridge, offering it to Tycho for his inspection before returning the weapon to its holster. The Nightmare King version of Robert continued to smile disarmingly. It could be patient.

[identity profile] sonofalderaan.livejournal.com 2010-03-14 07:36 pm (UTC)(link)
Tycho let go of the blaster with one hand to gingerly accept the cartridge. "But that's ..." He stared at it with some confusion. "You mean to tell me it uses explosive projectiles?" Tycho was looking at Robert as if the man had told him he used a bow and arrow. "Are you some kind of ancient relics collector? I've never actually heard of someone trying to use one of those before though. Aren't they dangerous?"

[identity profile] bostonbeatcop.livejournal.com 2010-03-14 07:42 pm (UTC)(link)
"It works for me. A bullet will kill you as dead as a particle beam." He shrugged, crossing his arms.

"Where I come from, we don't have 'blasters' or 'phasers' or whatever fancy weapons you guys use."

[identity profile] sonofalderaan.livejournal.com 2010-03-14 08:03 pm (UTC)(link)
"Where you come from?" Tycho raised an eyebrow. "Where exactly is that?"

[identity profile] bostonbeatcop.livejournal.com 2010-03-14 08:05 pm (UTC)(link)
"Earth. Boston. Nineteen sixty-three." He added the year for reference, just in case this was another of those guys from the future.

[identity profile] sonofalderaan.livejournal.com 2010-03-14 08:11 pm (UTC)(link)
"Earth?" Tycho shook his head. "Never heard of it. Is it on the outer rim?"

[identity profile] bostonbeatcop.livejournal.com 2010-03-14 09:40 pm (UTC)(link)
"I have no idea. We just started sending men into space. President Kennedy says we're going to have a man on the moon by the end of the decade, though." Robert scratched his chin in a contemplative manner.

[identity profile] sonofalderaan.livejournal.com 2010-03-14 10:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Tycho was completely lost. "Just started ... you mean your world is pre-hyper drive?"

The blaster was wavering, the barrel slowly drifting towards the ground. If Not Robert's plan was to make Tycho vulnerable by confusing him, it was working.
