Well, if there was anything good about the nightmares, at least it meant that she got to see all kinds of places. Even if they were places that Sherry didn't want to see . A forest was okay, especially since she could follow the voices.
A branch cracked underfoot as she peeked out from behind a tree. If there was something scary, she was going to turn all the boys around and they were going to retreat until they thought of a better plan than, WHAT IS THAT RUN AWAY.
Asuka didn't look up at the sound of the snapping branch. She was far too busy being miserable. She curled tighter into a ball, her knuckles white from gripping at her knees. She was alone and she was never going to see anyone else ever again. No one wanted her. No one loved her. She'd be here. Alone.
Vega's tailing close behind Sherry. He still has the gun, which is probably dangerous all things considered, but he's not likely to let go of it any time soon. It makes him feel a little better, like he can actually do something if he's threatened.
"Hey!" he calls to the girl, curled up into a ball on the ground. "Are you okay?"
The answer's pretty obviously no but he has to say something, right?
Sherry exchanged a glance with Vega. "I'll... go see," she murmured. Everything TV ever told her seemed to contradict this action. What if she was actually a monster instead of a crying person? The little girl shook her head and straightened her shoulders. Would her mother flip flop about this? Would her father? No, of course not.
Time to be stupid brave and help someone she didn't know. Sherry started towards the girl. "It's okay, you know. Everything is going to be fine." Probably.
Caelestine shifts in place on his little perch on Sherry's headband, peering in Asuka's direction. "Careful!" he says to Sherry, gripping her headband tight. "She might not be..."
Asuka kept her face down, still sobbing quietly. The question penetrated, however. As did the voices. She sniffled, trying not to be seen crying. Who were they? Why were they here? Why hadn't they been there for her earlier? Why did it matter? They were probably just going to leave her anyway, just like everyone else. Like Mama and Kaji and Shinji. She sniffled again.
"...what do you want?"
The tone is hostile, but there's a sense of desperation and sadness underneath it (maybe they really are here to help).
