Meeting of the Minds

After the initial confusion of the pod release, the podlings have been allowed to wander at their discretion around the living area.

However, even though no one really pointed it out, people might find themselves drawn to a large oblong room at the one end. All of the hallways just seemed to lead there, for some strange reason.

The ceiling was massively tall, and shaped like a semi-circular dome. This sight would greet anyone who entered. There were fleshy couches and chairs for those that wished to sit down.

It looked, quite accurately, like a place people were meant to gather.

And gather they would.

Erm. Sorry. Again. Jus' somethin' I grew up sayin'. Given I ain't got a name fer you, seemed better 'an 'hey you', roight? Of course she did. Kitty loves an English accent. He didn't mind her standing over him. Probably because he'd be taller if he stood. Ain't been able to get a straight answer outta the telepathic computer. Not entirely sure the 'why' came up, though.

Kitty held out her hand and shook it.

Home.

She thinks of Deerfield, Illinois.

And then she thinks of Westchester County.

Of the X-Mansion.

She pushes those thoughts away.

Gotta be strong.

"Really? It's not that common a nickname, anymore. Most girls prefer going by Kate or Katie these days."

Why yes, she has switched to her actual voice.

Well, sorta know her. She ain't much older 'an me. Used to be an X-Man. There wasn't really a reason for him to keep that secret, after all. Even if he didn't have any Xs on him.

Eyes widen.

Eyebrow perks up.

Mouth opens in a little O of surpise.

"Her codename wasn't Shadowcat by any chance, was it?"

Jono raises an eyebrow. Yeah, it was. Eventually. After a few false starts with codenames. She's gone off to uni now, though.

He actually jerked a bit, eyes going wide. Wha? It took a moment for him to get that back under control. I...sorry. Yer a lot younger than the one I know. Or just seems a lot younger. It's hard to tell.

"I'm seventeen. Not quite college bound yet." She crosses her arms and looks Jono up and down warily. "Dr. McCoy told me about alternate realities and dimensions and stuff. I'm going to hazard a wild guess here and say that you're from one of these alternate worlds."

Reckon so. He didn't know everything about his Kitty Pryde, but he had a feeling that things were a little different between worlds. Well, I've jus' gone twenty, meself. An' she's a little older 'an me. But yeah, I'd take a guess that things are different.

He glanced over at her possessions, nodding to the dragon. Fer one, 'e's real where I'm from.

Lockheed? Kitty asked. I've had him since I was, like, four. Without thinking she sits into a chair near his and jumps up. Augh! Are these things alive?! She shudders and leans on the chair's back instead. Though a real pet dragon would be nice.

Dunno if they're alive. Suit might be maskin' 'at fer me. Since he didn't have a pulse of his own, the suit wasn't really helping in that sense. An', yeah. Followed you home from space one day an' the professor let you keep 'im.

Kitty chuckled. I have yet to be in space. She hasn't quite realized where she is. The Professor is dead where I'm from, though. Along with Cyclops and Jean. There's a note of sadness to her telepathic communication.

It's not like Jono's noticed, either. It's not bad. Quieter 'an Faerieland, but not bad.

The rest of it takes a moment to sink in as he sits back. Wow, he says after a moment. They're...all alive where I'm from. Not that they ain't been dead before. Or we thought they were dead an' they weren't. Jean's the only one who pulls the 'back from the literal dead' trick, after all.

Wanna trade worlds for a week? she asks wryly. I miss them. Jean more than anyone, really. Because Cyclops could be a jerk sometimes, and as nice as Professor X was...there was still always something that Kitty had felt was a little off about the man.
