Kaylee is looking for someone in charge.

Or at least, she's looking for someone who can take her to someone in charge. She's not really picky. She's got some questions, and she's got a message to deliver. Also, she'd like to know if there's anything to eat that's not... mush. Also if there's anything that she can do to help.

So she's prowling the halls, looking for... people, and muttering to herself.

"...Neuropathy, Engineering Alcove, vents past the doors..."

Lyta is moving down the corridor on her way to the mess hall to get something to eat--or, at least, what this ship classifies as 'something to eat'--when she passes one of the new people along the way, muttering to herself.

"Excuse me?" she asks, presuming the woman was speaking to her.

"Lyta Alexander," Lyta greeted, offering the girl her name in return. Then her forehead creased as Kaylee insisted that she had to speak with someone in charge. "Oh, well, Cybil's technically the captain. But, I'm not sure where she is right now. Have you tried asking one of the A.I.'s?"

"It's all right," Lyta reassured. "In all honesty, I'm still trying to get used to this place myself. And I've experienced organic ships before."

Deciding to walk with the new girl while she went about trying to find the Captain--they really weren't supposed to be wandering around the ship alone, afterall--Lyta clasped her hands behind her back as she fell in step with Kaylee.

"So, what do you need to see the captain for?"

"What'd it tell you?" Lyta asked with definite interest. Ever since she'd gotten here she--nor anyone else for that matter--hadn't been able to get much of anything from the A.I.'s. Most of them didn't know a thing about what was going on and the one that did wasn't exactly keen on sharing.

Lyta froze.

"The A.I. told you how to access the Command Deck?" she asked with a sense of urgency in her voice. "Which A.I.?"

"Ok..." Lyta said, sounding a little confused, and came to a halt as she addressed the ship.

"Stacy?...Andromeda?...Cortana? Is anybody there?"

|| I am. || Stacy's familiar voice replied.

Lyta sighed upon hearing Stacy.

"Stacy, where is Cybil?" she asked, glancing over at Kaylee.

|| The captain is not registering on internal scanners, || was the response.

Short. Direct. To the point. And utterly useless.

Lyta frowned. While the answer wasn't as specific as she had hoped it would be, it wasn't completely useless.

"Well, I guess that means she must be somewhere down in the city," Lyta said to Kaylee. "You sure you're up for going down there?"

[identity profile] lytaalex.livejournal.com 2009-03-29 03:15 am (UTC)(link)
"Well, for one, it's not exactly what I would call 'landside,'" Lyta explained as she began to lead Kaylee to the hub, which would then take them to the city. "And, two, every bad thing that has happened on this ship since I've been here always seems to start in the city. So, it's not exactly what I'd consider a safe place."

"Ok," Lyta said with an understanding nod. "Well, I guess we should probably get going then. Especially if we ever want to get access to the command deck and find a way to get off this thing."
