Lean Mean Blue Machine [open to anyone (but NOT a meeting post! Just for meeting Jaime)]

There's a lot of people that mill around after the crew returns. Jaime Reyes, also known as the Blue Beetle, stays suited up for now, just in case, especially after getting fried with a Dracon beam twice.

He's trying to get through to the MedBay, where Paco is, because he doesn't want him to have to go through his de-Yeerking alone, whatever the Yeerk said or tried to do to him.

But the blue-suited, alien symbiote-powered teenager is willing to talk to or help any new person that needs it.

"Everybody okay? I know you new guys got all confused and shaken up by this, too."

Chaucer does not scream like a girl. In fact, he does not scream at all.

He does, however, scrabble at top speed to hide behind Jaime.

After all, Jaime may well be a demon. But at least he's a demon who knows not to yell and bothers to look human.

"What places are those?" Chaucer is both intrigued and suspicious about these 'places.'

"Places in the sky?" After all, they themselves are in the sky.

Wednesday quirks a little bit of a smile. Strangely enough, the old man looks better than he did before, despite the bandages on his head and face and chest... still, there's something evasive that just seems edgingly different about him, though it's not obvious at first glance.

"And there are the celestial spheres, but there's another layer to it beyond that - each act and decision and falling leaf branches time like a tree. Compound the two, and you can get all sorts of crazy shit."

The strange thing? It's probably... his teeth. They seem kind of rather more full than they were before, smaller and sharper and more numerous.

Geoffrey listened patiently to Jaime and then Wednesday, looking at the ground and sidling in place a little as he attempted to absorb as much of it as possible. It was decidedly odd, not knowing more than a teenager.

He understood at least most of what Jaime said, and had started to say, "So you're people from the future and from other worlds, but not demonic ones, though there are slugs who can posse--" before his thoughts got too confused and he frowned again.

"Spheres, m'lords?"

This really must be what it felt like to be Roland or Wat. It almost made him feel guilty for teasing them.

"Planets and stars, you dolt," Wednesday says dryly, aimed in Jaime's direction.

He may mean 'dolt' in an affectionate way. It's not very clear.

"Ah, I see," Chaucer nods, "slugs from the stars, come to our sky ship in order to possess us."

Either he believes it - which he might, it's as likely as being in a sky ship at all - or he thinks they're both crazy. Not even Geoffrey himself knows precisely which it is.

Chaucer nods politely, gratefully, knowing he'll not get another answer. "Thank you, m'lord. I've but one question left: why would they want to possess slaves?"

Geoff nods, bowing his head slightly in submission to the boy's opinions. If the lad is acting in charge, then it is likely that he has some title or other, and it's best not to upset him.

"Pardon, m'lord, I did not mean to imply they wanted us as slaves. To them, we must be more vessel than slave, horse than servant. A tool needed for certain activity but otherwise just an animal."

He pauses, head tilting as he considers how to properly voice his thoughts.

"What I did not understand is why they would want to use people such as we, who are enslaved and unlikely, even under their command, to escape?"
