We've got a few secrets left, and we're gonna use them. But just know that the end is coming.

There are three major things happening. One of them is that the crew is sweeping through the ship, scanning whoever they find, and shipping the restrained Controllers back to the MedBay with some crew members.

Another is Paco--or his Yeerk, at least--is leading Scorpius, who appears to have betrayed the crew, towards the machine, hidden away in an alcove in the city, attached to one of the fleshy walls near one of Stacy's nerve clusters. It took them quite a while to find it.

The Yeerks do so love collaborators.

The last thing happening is the Doctor, Master, and Bumblebee, with the last one carrying an unconscious West, are hunting for that same machine and closing in.

With all these thing happening at once, the shit is, as they say, about to hit the fan.

That's...reassuring, really.

Let's see. Jaime, Danny, Robin, and Kara.

"Guys, scan 'em. Make sure Robin's the only one."

He will be.

Good way fer 'im t' end up with broken bones, Jono pointed out to the robots. Shaking his head, he reached out with his telepathy, very lightly scanning the four. He didn't need much of a touch to confirm, after all. Yeah. 'E is.

Of course, the robots could back him up on that.

Dog pile. Ha. ha.

Soundwave raised an optic ridge, looking pointedly at Blitzwing, his visor, a mellow red. But he more or less, shrugs and looks at Robin again. "An unpleasant idea, Blitzwing. With my mass of a Scion XB and yours with a tank or a jet, we might crush him. That is out of the question."

Of course, he would take the joke quite seriously. But he knew of the triplechanger's unprecedented 'randomness' so he would might as well warn him.

He looked at Jono for the obvious confirmation, and then back at Robin. He would lightly pin the organic down with the press of a hand.

Blitzwing looked somewhat grumpy.
"It vas a joke," he muttered. "Nobody can take a joke around here, I swear."
He looked around briefly.
"A giant spider...hmph. Blackarachnia vould be ten times vorse zan any giant spider they could conjure up. At least giant spiders don't usually have grudges," he mused idly, with nothing else to do.

"...meh, could be wrong. Could be mutant zombie bears or something."

"That vould be...interesting," Blitzwing said, after a moment. "I doubt slugs would equate to mutant zombie bears, though..."
Oh look, they're getting along so well! Isn't that great?

The Chief finds this lack of focus disturbing. He's not one for chatter even at the best of times, and even though he's glad that Robin's the only controller present he's still not exactly all sunshine and rainbows right now.

"We'd better get him (he nods to Robin) better secured if he can get out of that, instead of just standing here talking about it. Better alternatives to current bonds, anyone?"

He wants to get moving again, the seconds are ticking by and they have a limited number of those to spare before the Yeerks do something nasty. Unfortunately, he has no better idea of what to do with Robin bar hauling him back to the medbay and seeing if the restraints there are any better.

"Billy, do you have anything good you grabbed from the Possessions Lockers?" Cybil asks.

Soundwave stopped the urge to put a hand over his head. Blitzwing was still Blitzwing, random as ever.

He stared at Robin once more, his hand, pinning a bit harder to keep him in place. Indeed, they need new bonds. He couldn't just stand around, the only thing holding him down.

Billy nods briskly, already sorting through the pile of items he's brought along. He finally produces a small black sphere and presses a button, releasing a fog of eerie blue light.

In the next moment, it's taken shape and coiled tightly around Robin, his new bonds resembling a spacey sci-fi spider web. Billy confirms that the item is operating as intended with a glance, and turns to explain to the group.

"I've confined him with a web of transparent matter-restricting material. It will tighten at a rate proportional to his struggles, similar to the operation of a Chinese finger trap. Fortunately for us, though, this device is not nearly as easy to escape from. The bonds will remain in place until this button is pushed."

He gestures to a second button on the sphere.

[identity profile] acid-dissonance.livejournal.com 2009-03-09 03:11 am (UTC)(link)
Ah. Yes. That's a bit more better.

Soundwave scanned through the bonds and he was more or less, satisfied. Even a robot can't easily break through that contraption. He slowly lets go of Robin before he looked at the oragnic. "Can this...material produce more of the substance so that we can confine the other Yerrks as well?"
morphitudinous: (Contemplation)

[personal profile] morphitudinous 2009-03-09 03:46 am (UTC)(link)
"Affirmative. The substance will stretch and confine any number of targets within range, and I have a small number of extra spheres if more are needed. All that's necessary is to point the storage sphere at the target and press the release button again. Should I?"

[identity profile] alien-catcher.livejournal.com 2009-03-09 06:47 pm (UTC)(link)
Gwen was pretty impressed by the bonds Billy had pulled out. Not unlike something she had used before, but it was comforting to know that the ship had some technologies available that could be of use.

"There's no chance he'd get out of it while it's expanding, right?"

She might deal a lot with alien technology, but that sure doesn't mean she trusts it.
morphitudinous: (Contemplation)

[personal profile] morphitudinous 2009-03-09 07:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Billy's face twists into slight frown, and he taps the side of his glasses while addressing Gwen.

"It's highly improbable that escape will be possible, but I'm hesitant to give an absolute answer. These restraints were designed for high-risk captures, therefore they will in all likelihood remain tight, but it would probably be wise to remain within arm's reach during the first test."

He tilts his head to Soundwave during that last line.

[identity profile] acid-dissonance.livejournal.com 2009-03-10 01:28 am (UTC)(link)
He eyed the organic warily but feigns and simply nods. "If that is what you say, then very well." He looked at Robin with that eerie manner, when his condor suddenly squawks to him.

"Billy, do you think it is possible for the Yerrks to respond or react to acoustics or sound manipulation?"
morphitudinous: (Contemplation)

[personal profile] morphitudinous 2009-03-10 02:33 am (UTC)(link)
He considers this for a moment. So Soundwave uses sound manipulation attacks, and while that's not an area Billy specializes in, it might be worth a try. "It's certainly possible that they have sound receptors, but I'm not sufficiently informed to give you a definite answer. Those receptors would only be equipped to process a certain capacity before experiencing damage from overload, just as humans suffer hearing damage from high-pressure sounds."

"The only problem with that method of attack, though, is that we don't know the sound pressure needed to damage the Yeerks, if there is one. We could easily cause irreversible damage to the rest of the crew while leaving the Yeerks unaffected if their threshold is high enough."

[identity profile] girl-of-steel.livejournal.com 2009-03-10 03:10 am (UTC)(link)
Kara diverts her attention back from her personal musings to the conversation at hand. "So...can I take him to the MedBay or whatever we're calling it now?" Before anyone has a chance to say anything, she adds, "Superspeed and supergentleness. I'm your best mode of transport."

[identity profile] ihatefire.livejournal.com 2009-03-10 03:21 am (UTC)(link)
Cybil nods. "Cart him away. We're going to start moving, but we likely won't be far by the time you catch up again."

[identity profile] acid-dissonance.livejournal.com 2009-03-11 08:30 am (UTC)(link)
"This creates a certainly interesting ground for experiments." He could've shown a smirk if he could. "If I could have a chance, I can try to manipulate sounds while handling the Yerrks. Though it would do you organics good to move off as far as you can in order to not be affected with the high pressure." He paused briefly, thinking. "...I think I have an.. idea, but it would be difficult for Laserbeak." He gestured to his mechanical condor.

"Cybil, will you still require my assistance in capturing the Yerrks?" He gazed at her briefly, having that composed expression.

[identity profile] ihatefire.livejournal.com 2009-03-11 10:01 am (UTC)(link)
"Yes. Kara's got Robin covered," she says, as Kara flies off with the trundled up Controller.

"Let's all keep moving."

So they do. Into the next confrontation. (http://community.livejournal.com/trans_9/23505.html?thread=2228689#t2228689)
