This Man's Home Is A Castle [OPEN]

When he first saw it weeks ago, shortly after the crew had finally caught up him, he thought for certain that he was hallucinating. But there it was, nestled among several other castles. The Luthor Mansion, in all it's glory.

Lex was never a superstitious man, but even he believed that there was more to heaven and earth than what could be proven on paper. The appearance of his home, a reward no other crew member had received (to his knowledge), certainly made him think. He wondered if this was some sort of sign that his decisions so far had indeed been right, or that he was on the right path. Perhaps it was put there as a distraction of sorts, as well, as there were many unpleasant memories that haunted those walls. For the time being, he decided to take it as a reward, however relocating there initially proved to be problematic.

The Mansion wasn't in disarray, but it was clear that no one had walked its halls in quite some time. Not only that, but the last people who had clearly had little regard for the property. There was a layer of dirt and dust everywhere, expensive and priceless paintings had been torn off the walls and trashed, priceless artifacts were just broken pieces of clay or stone, pieces of antique furniture had been smashed, and every vault was empty. Not a single green meteor rock to be found. He counted himself lucky that his pool table, piano, and a handful of family photos managed to survive.

Rather than be dejected, Lex looked at it as project to occupy his time. Since he only worked in Neuropathy whenever he felt like it, and manned the bar in the lounge at his discretion, he did have plenty of time to devote to this project. Which was good, because cleaning up and fixing up a 40 room mansion-- replete with its own library (with real books), well supplied medieval armory and modern armory, pool, wine cellar, gym, and grand ballroom-- took a lot of work.

Work which still hadn't been completed, but he had progressed far enough to not only make it livable, but also presentable. The master bedroom, Lex's office, and most of the common areas had been cleaned up. All the rest was blocked off for the moment, but were in locations that were fairly out of the way.

So, he put out a message on the omnicomms, and invited a few people to check the place out. The ones who weren't already spying on him, at any rate. He laid out a few drinks, and a sampling of some of the fresh fruit and food he picked up while during their last mission to earth. He didn't expect many guests, after all, he had never been the most well liked person, even back when he was a relatively kindhearted kid. Most parties he hosted as an adult, he was usually surrounded by obsequious employees desperate to move up the food chain, business partners who wanted a more favorable deal, business rivals who were trying to find out something about the competition, charity representatives who wanted money, and sycophants who wanted the notoriety of being in the same room as Lex Luthor and access to the connections that alone can bring. Friends were simply a foreign concept, if he ever truly had any to begin with, and he certainly hadn't gone out of his way to make any on the ship. He was curious as to what category his guests, if he had any, would fit in.

((ooc: This is something of a party style post, so feel free to talk to Lex, Lois, or talk to each other while your character looks around.))

"Lex then. A pleasure to meet you."

"My name's Charles Kawalsky." He didn't want to brag by using his title, though on second thought maybe he should have.

[identity profile] gogopowersuit.livejournal.com 2010-01-11 06:21 am (UTC)(link)
"Then same to you, Charles," she offered a hand for a handshake. Professional habit. Hard to break.

[identity profile] kawalskyeffect.livejournal.com 2010-01-11 06:23 am (UTC)(link)
Kawalsky shook her hand. "Pleasure's all mine."

[identity profile] gogopowersuit.livejournal.com 2010-01-11 06:28 am (UTC)(link)
"Can't say I've seen you around before. What do you do here?" Besides gather in strange men's houses and hit on pretty, blond women.

[identity profile] kawalskyeffect.livejournal.com 2010-01-11 06:37 am (UTC)(link)
"I was one of the podpoppees during the zombie attack. I'm leader of Team Whiskey and I volunteered for the X-wing pilots. Where I came from I was a Major in the Airforce and SG-2 team leader of Stargate Command." So he changed his mind about the bragging. So what?

[identity profile] gogopowersuit.livejournal.com 2010-01-11 06:46 am (UTC)(link)
"Cool story bro" :|b

"Hmn," Samus quirked an eyebrow at that. She really wasn't expecting his entire life story. She stated plainly, "Just on Security and the leader of Team Golf over here. Was a bounty hunter before that."

She also happened to be the best one of the best hunters in the galaxy and before that was part of her military top special forces, but luckily she's not as braggy as Kawalsky.

And cue another blonde stepping up to the bar from god-knows-where. Really, if you knew anything about Nova you wouldn't be surprised she is secretly Batman had spent most of her life training to be invisible after all. Which was quite a feat, dressed as she was in her flowing white sundress.

Leaning far out over the counter, she grabbed a bottle and lifted herself up to sit on the bar. Noticing the people nearby, she threw them a casual salute, piercing green eyes taking each of them in, though pausing when they landed on Samus. She smirked, knowing another hunter when she saw one.

Opening the bottle, she raised it in their direction. "Ma'am. Boys."

Kang had been painfully obvious when he'd started courting Fonrar, as had most draconians (understandably so, not having been raised with females around), so it was easy for him to spot when another person was being so obvious. It was amusing to watch, especially with the way Samus seemed to be reacting.

How had he not noticed the other woman? Nodding at her in greeting, he then looked over the selection curiously. "I don't know these particular types of drinks. Can you recommend a good one?"

[identity profile] novembersghost.livejournal.com 2010-01-11 07:52 am (UTC)(link)
Nova had read the situation instantly. Even if she hadn't been privy to the thoughts of the occupants of the room, it didn't take a genius to be able to accurately deduce what was going on. It was amusing, to say the least. A sentiment she shared with the tall dragon-man over there if what she'd 'heard' from him was any indication.

Sensing his confusion, she couldn't help but smile a little wider. It wasn' an uncommon reaction to her appearances. In fact, it rather gratifying to know that she still had it. At his question, she tilted her head at the wide selection of drink along the shelves. "Depends. What can you take, big boy?"

[identity profile] gogopowersuit.livejournal.com 2010-01-11 08:00 am (UTC)(link)
It was much easier to ignore really bad flirting when there were other people around. She turned her attention to Kang. Surely she could help with his situation.

"I recommend that one," Samus pointed to a rather strong liquid sitting on the shelf. She turned back to Nova, "Don't you think?"
governorkang: (Having fun)

"I've spent my fair share of time drinking over the years. Preferably something strong; I got used to the cactus juice my friend came up with, and it packs a punch," Kang grinned. "But, I'd be happy with just about anything, as long as it gets me drunk eventually."

[identity profile] kawalskyeffect.livejournal.com 2010-01-12 02:34 am (UTC)(link)
"My sentiment exactly." And to further illustrate the point Kawalsky took a very long drink from his glass.

[identity profile] gogopowersuit.livejournal.com 2010-01-12 03:01 am (UTC)(link)
Even with his kind of hilarious current attitude, Samus could agree with that. Bottoms up!

[identity profile] novembersghost.livejournal.com 2010-01-12 05:33 am (UTC)(link)
Nova, to be fair. Hadn't spent much time drinking. Her lifestyle simply didn't call for it. But she knew how to appreciate a good drink, and amusing company. So, she grabbed the bottle Samus had recommended off the shelf, opened it and held it out to the Draconian with a smirk. She then raised her own bottle before bringing it to her lips.

Bottoms up. He'd hear her voice say. Though it was obviously impossible for her to have spoken while drinking. Right?
governorkang: (Neutral)

[personal profile] governorkang 2010-01-12 05:45 am (UTC)(link)
...well. Kawalsky had a glass, but the women were drinking straight from the bottle. This was going to be an interesting night. Shrugging, he raised up the bottle he'd been given and took a drink. Luckily, for him, the fact that he'd heard Nova's voice in his head didn't register until he'd swallowed it, otherwise he probably would have spit it out.

He was imagining things. That was it.

"...this is good."

[identity profile] kawalskyeffect.livejournal.com 2010-01-12 06:08 am (UTC)(link)
Kawalsky might have been drinking from a glass but at the rate he was going he might as well have been drinking from the bottle.

"Damn straight." After Pouring himself some more beer, he set down his bottle and raised his glass. "Here's to you two very lovely ladies."

Oh yeah, he was sloshed.

[identity profile] gogopowersuit.livejournal.com 2010-01-12 07:01 pm (UTC)(link)
Lucky Samus had a high tolerance for alcohol. A lot of practice and maybe even some DNA augmentation probably had something do with that. But swept up in the sudden social-ness of her drinking party, she adjusted and was on her way to joining Kawalsky.

"Trying for flattery now?" Samus' sarcasm was usually reserved for those with which she was comfortable. Whether she was comfortable with these hooligans or just a little loose lipped (or maybe a combination of both) has yet to be determined, but it was there regardless.

The Ghost though, had sadly, little tolerance for the stuff. It went straight to her head and she squeezed her eyes shut for a moment with an audible "Whoo." Shaking her head, she grinned widely, now that was the kind of buzz she'd been looking for. Really, why hadn't she started drinking before?

So it was, that when Samus aimed her rather sarcastic wit at Kawalsky, she laughed hard, raising a hand to cover her mouth for a moment. It really hadn't been that funny, so she didn't know why she'd laughed like that, but she found she hardly cared. "Stating the obvious isn't very flattering if you ask me." She grinned, lifting her bottle to her lips again.
governorkang: (Now that's funny / Smirking)

[personal profile] governorkang 2010-01-13 02:10 am (UTC)(link)
Hopefully Lex wouldn't mind this much of his alcohol disappearing. Samus seemed to be fine so far, but already, Kawalsky and Nova were looking pretty hammered. "I don't think you're going to have very much luck with these two ladies, Charles. Might as well quit while you're ahead."

[identity profile] kawalskyeffect.livejournal.com 2010-01-13 03:26 am (UTC)(link)
"Maybe." Kawalsky waggled his eyebrow at Samus. "Maybe not. But I can still admire a beautiful, even if I don't get anywhere with her."

"Well met, Lex and Charles. And you as well, Samus," Kang smiled. "I'd heard rumors that you had alcohol, and I must say, I'm very glad to see that they proved true."

Oh, Kang didn't plan on asking any questions. He was no stranger to black markets and contraband items. "With rumors, I find it best to take them with a grain of salt."
