After the meeting, and after some bickering with the Emergency Medical Hologram, down at the bottom of the Hub, Brainy is arranging the MedBay to his liking and familiarizing himself with the medical equipment and its functions.

Right now, for instance, as anyone walks in the door, he's wearing some sort of scanning goggles and a rather sinister-looking surgical glove with micro-scalpels, little lasers and surgical saws on the fingertips.

This makes him look like a green-faced Freddy Krueger with mad scientist goggles. For anyone that walks in like he instructed him to at the meeting, this is the first thing they see.

"Hmmmm."

"It would be impossible to adequately shadow each member of the crew discreetly for three days," Brainy says. "This means that I need to adjust the scanner on my omnicom to ensure it will be able to differentiate normal gray matter from foreign biological material, and then I'll have to scan the crew. If anyone is indeed infested, it's highly unlikely that we would be able to determine the location of a potential pool or that I'd be able to convince them to come down to the MedBay to be scanned."

"Can you do that?" Ax asked, intrigued. His battles with the Animorphs had been decidedly low-tech, aside from a few things he'd put together himself. "Could it also potentially be used to locate the Kandrona? That is actually more important than the pool itself, and likely a more defensible position if any of the crew with super powers have been infested."

"With time, yes. To both. I'm rather limited in materials to work with, however, and I'd need some data on Kandrona to configure the scanners to detect it."

"Obviously," Ax said with a nod. "I will do what I can to assist you."

He reached out and prodded one of the monitors. "Clearly I am going to have to get used to working with actual technology again."

"You said you were trapped on Earth? And I presume if you've been engaging these parasites in guerilla warfare that you've been trapped for some time. I can't imagine how you've managed."

"We have made contact with my species a time or two," Ax said. "I chose to stay. There are only a few of us defending Earth, as I said. I can only hope that the theory suggested earlier, that we could be returned at the moment we were taken from, is true."

He chuckled. "Humans learn very quickly, but their science is somewhat... Well, they are still using fusion in weapons. I have managed to construct a few things, but mass-production is impossible."
