Siege on the North Pole

Of course, the task entrusted to our beloved heroes of the Meatcrew won't be easily accomplished. They're being watched. Small, robotic Arctic foxes, a product of Macrohard, studies the crew as they come through the portal. They watch the set up; they see them go into the realm of the Holiday Spirit, and leave in their flying cars to spread joy in the world. The portal is left open--this is their chance to strike.

This joy, this happiness, this plan? Unacceptable. These creatures are the surveillance for Macrohard. The crew's plan is out, and this corporation is not pleased. The crew's efforts are threatening Macrohard's dominance of the season, but the most effective tactic isn't fighting the crew--oh no. What they'll do instead is go after the Holiday Spirit itself. There is no other option: the threat must be eliminated, once and for all.

Luckily, Macrohard happens to have access to the most technologically advanced weaponry available. The most dangerous mercenaries are on their payroll. Troops of mecha nutcrackers, cybernetic polar bears, and candy cane-wielding arctic ninjas are on route to the North Pole to finish up the job.

[OOC: These are small teams, so try to keep Infiltration Team in one thread, and try to do a LOT of group threads in the others.]

As Shadow landed, having trashed a robotic nutcracker soldier, the ground behind him erupted with explosions as Nanoha and Fate arrived, cutting through the forces as well.

"Well, well... I'm glad people started showing up. I was afraid I'd have to take the lion's share!" Shadow said. As he did, he found more of the ground erupting around as three ninjas shot out from the ground, intending to rain death from above with candy canes.

"You're not going to take me...!" Shadow shouted, launching himself upward, spinning as the candy canes rained down.

Matt had been on the very last leg of the trip when he heard Aeneas' frantic report over the comms. Swallowing, he had turned north and punched it.

Arriving over the terrible battlefield, he scanned the area and swore when a few robots took potshots at his classic car.

"All right," growled Matt as he punched the gear into high. "We need to get faster and smarter (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nMrsfPagRFg)."

The radio roaring, he focused his power, what little he could form and he swung around. Shifting gears, the engine of the car roared as he came soaring in.

Slamming his hand on the horn, a pink barrier formed as streaks of crackling magic rippled through the car as he slammed into a nutcracker robot. And another, and another.

The robots slammed at the hood as he growled and hit the eject moments before the car slammed directly into a large pile, exploding in a fiery ball as Matt landed with an audible fwump into the snow, rolling over and over before skidding to a halt.

"I'm never doing that again," declared Olsen as he dove for cover from laser blasts.

Oh thank Spode, they had backup.

Aeneas was underneath the portal, driven far back from the deep trenches where he was most comfortable. While the others were cutting clean through the bulk of the robotic army, those around the fringes were starting to pile up pretty fast.

The alien was doing his best with his limited abilities to hold them off. Thankfully the smaller enemies were the ones that had managed to avoid the mass attacks, making it easier for Aeneas to pick them off with little effort. A tail swipe here, a foreleg smash there, some head dismemberment spattered from time to time to make things interesting…

It was a good thing that these weren’t biological enemies. Aeneas wasn’t sure he’d be able to handle attacking something…eh…meaty.

Of course there were the usual distractions. A lull in the flow of enemies took Aeneas’s attention to a flying, glowing…car. Yes, it was one of the cars, and it looked familiar—who exactly was in the driver’s seat?

The alien’s sharp eyes cut through the blizzard as it exploded, and he saw the delicate humanoid form of Matt Olsen tumble into a line of laser-shooting polar bears.

Moments later, having completely abandoned his post, Aeneas exploded from underneath the advancing force and latched himself onto one of their necks. As the others recovered from the ice upsurge, the creature batted them away with his fuisti and hoped for the best.

“The portal!” Aeneas screeched to him as the polar bear he was attached to swung its head wildly, “Go protect the portal!”

Then, as an afterthought:

Please go protect the portal!”

The Sangheili himself had remained behind as the others had left to deliver gifts to all, 'Vadum had been patrolling through the castle and grounds inside. He had been on his way toward the portal from within the castle even as Aeneas call had gone out, and at once he picked his pace to a run, leaping on through.

As soon as he was through the Sangheili commander took stock of the situation, setting his motion tracker to widest range briefly. A growl emitting from his throat at the contacts he received, hmm a worthy fight perhaps. His eyes quickly tracked the others in the combat, taking note of abilities and weapons.

The hilts of his swords were in his hands in an instant, unlit as he stood before the portal, growling as he surveyed their opponents before a nod at Aeneas call, before bellowing his own call, calm, controlled and commanding, "All who are capable, protect the portal! Let none pass!"

With that said, 'Vadum sprang forth into the fray, twin blades snapping into existence as he charged through the snow into the midst of the melee in which a familiar alien was involved. One of his blades cleaving down and through one of the robotic creatures involved before spinning to decapitate another.

Even in the midst of battle he glanced to the other alien, sheathing one of his swords to draw his plasma rifle, the twin bulbed plasma weapon seemingly small in his hands as he let loose an automatic burst at another of the bears, the superheated plasma scorching and melting the parts they hit near instantly. "Aeneas, are you in need of a weapon?"

"THANKS AENEAS I OWE YOU ONE!" roared Matt as he pulled the bag free of the flaming wreckage of his car and slung it over his shoulder.

Reaching into it, he muttered, "Please be something in here that helps--!"

And pulled out Irma's Fan and Cornelia's Ribbon.

"This will do." said Matt, thankful the bags seemed to respond to the needs of the person as he stuffed it into his belt.

First thing was first: help his buddy.

Snapping out the ribbon, he spun around, whirling the pink ribbon around like a master gymnast moments before it snapped against the ground. The ground shook and vines burst free from it, his hand glowing in response to the needed energy. They wound around a small company of bears, wrapping around their legs and muzzles. "HIT EM!" he yelled, drawing back his hand and swinging the fan.

A mighty gust of wind burst forward, shearing through nutcrackers with cutting blades as he smirked. "Gotta thank Yan Lin for the idea later," he remarked as he lashed the pink ribbon like a whip at oncoming opponents, dragging vines out of nowhere.

Aeneas exhaled a sigh of relief as he saw Matt go off, unscathed. Had he been able to watch as he got weapons of his own then he might’ve been a little confused (”How in Spode’s name is he doing that with a pink ribbon and a fan?”)—but, at the moment, the bear he had in his jaws lashed furiously and threw the distracted alien several feet. Aeneas landed on a hard patch of ice, main lungs winded. Though the nitrogen reserves in his second set were enough to keep him from being completely paralyzed, he was stunned long enough to be vulnerable.

It was around then that Rtas ‘Vadum came in, shooting the already corroding robot with superheated plasma rounds. Aeneas lurched to his feet, steadily regaining his composure. Thanks to his fellow alien and Matt, this particular wave of machine polar bears had been completely wiped out.

Great!—just a few hundred more bloodthirsty automata to go!

Aeneas realized that they were extraordinarily outnumbered, especially for his standards. Fighting physically just wasn’t going to cut it. So yes, Rtas, a weapon would be spectacular.

“A weapon would be helpful indeed!” the creature called, holding out his left hand for Rtas ‘Vadum to throw him said item. He would’ve used his right, but for whatever reason that arm wasn’t responding particularly well.

Booth wasn't likng the fact that the army was taking potshots at the cars either.

"Hey! Okay, that does it...time to start fighting." he said. He had more conventional firearms, unlike the bladed items and magicks of the other team members. That was, except for the beam weapons...Dracons, that was what they were called. Either way, he didn't care, as long as he could shoot. He hated to do it, since it would put more holes in the car, but he was in survival mode and using one of the car doors as a shield, firing as fast as he could.

Melee combat was soon becoming a bit difficult. Not because of the robots themselves, no. It was the sheer number of them. If she didn't want to tire herself out, it was time for a change of tactics!

"Device Mode."

As Fate flew into the air, the blade of her sword, and the hilt transformed into Bardiche's default form: a long poleaxe with a black head, a yellow gem set in the center.

"Plasma Lancer."

At the device's command several orbs of magical energy appeared around Fate, hovering for a moment before shooting down at the enemies, with her aim focusing on the ones attacking Aeneas and Booth.

Plugged into her car, Lafiel had been perfectly at home on this delivery. She'd missed the feeling of synchronizing, of bringing together of Abh and machine. It wasn't her Basroil but it was close enough and she hummed happily as she made her deliveries.

Then the message had gone out on the comms and she veered back towards the portal, face set, feeling the familiar rush before battle.

"This is Lafiel. I'm coming through the portal. I'll circle their line to split them." And she did just that as she came through the portal.

Flying through that inferno of anti-aircraft lasers would have been impossible for a human pilot. Lafiel, however, was getting to show off exactly what the Abh were created for, weaving between beams that singed the arctic night and infused it with a stink of ozone.

'Vadum gave a quick nod to the human who had made it out of the flaming wreckage of one of the cars as he entangled a group of bears with vines that seemingly appeared from no where, the bears quickly reduced to slag as he turned the plasma rifle on them.

The Sangheili darting a glance back to the fellow alien at his reply, shifting his grip on his plasma rifle to hold it by the top section, "Here, use this," with that 'Vadum threw the plasma rifle across to him, the weapon though small to him was just over two feet in length and not particularly light, weighing around 13 lbs. Instructing the other alien quickly "Keep watch of the heat indicator on the left, let the bar fill and the weapon will overheat,"

Taking stock of the situation once more, a nod given at Lafiel's message, "Do what you can, anything that may give us an advantage is welcome," He replied quickly as the car in question burst from the portal, snapping his gaze to the one who had entangled the previous wave, "How many can you entrap at once?" he snapped the quick question even as he drew a plasma grenade.

"focus fire on the larger targets, I shall deal with anything that get close,"

"Enough." replied Matt to 'Vadum as he focused his magic.

All of the borrowed energies that he could muster coalesced into his hand as the Heart of Kandrakar flared to life in it. Energy thrummed down the ribbon as he faced them all.

"Come get some!" roared the teen as he snapped the ribbon.

On cue, an entire wave of attacking robots were immobilized, strong vines ripping free from the ground as Matt strained. This was taking most of his powers, and he would soon need to recharge.

But he wasn't done. Far from it.

Crackling magic burst from his hands, flashing like lightning as huge massive chunks of ice burst from the ground, flashing water and freezing waves into place. Wind howled and froze many on the spot, and with substantial control, unleashed a torrent of flame. Sweat beaded down Matt's forehead from the effort and flame as it smashed into an entire wave of enemies.

Slumping to the ground, he coughed and panted as he looked at the heart that still glowed. "It's still not enough..." he groaned as he struggled backwards to the lines.

Aeneas gave a nod of thanks to his alien companion, just barely managing to capture the new, extremely heavy weapon. This creature…wasn’t exactly made to carry things over ten pounds, at least not in his arms. Using this gun might take some getting used to.

Now, how exactly does one use a gun?

Contemplating this, rather befuddled by the idea that he could actually attack from a distance, Aeneas was just distracted enough to catch the spectacular scene created by his human friend Matt. He was dumfounded for most of it; if the gesture was something he’d been familiar with, Aeneas’s jaw would’ve dropped. Admittedly he was still skeptical about that ‘magic’ business that Matt had brought up a while ago, even after seeing him create vines and gusts of wind seemingly out of thin air.

No. This was fairly convincing.

Unfortunately the display took quite a lot of energy out of him. Startled by Matt’s sudden bout of weakness, Aeneas edged over to him towards the back of the line. This diversion was sufficient to keep him from noticing the nutcrackers begin forming together…

“Matt, that was amazing!” Aeneas trilled, caught in a temporary struggle between astonishment and concern, “Are—did that injure you in any way? You should probably go inside the portal and res—“

Giant candy cane!

Without thinking, Aeneas dropped the plasma rifle and flung himself at Matt.

Booth felt a little outgunned at times because he wasn't used to shooting robots. He was rather relieved that some of the people around him had more useful powers and things to fight with.

"I would say "what the hell?"" he said when the candy cane came "But it's hard to be surprised anymore." He could shoot it though, so he tried to help the two it was heading for, using the dracon gun. It was modified, but maybe he could deflect a few pieces at least.

Giant Candy Cane!

Matt registered it too seconds before he was smashed out of the way by Aeneas. It was going to hit, so he had to do something.

Mustering up as much power as possible, he slammed his hands down on the ground, upheaving the earth in order to catch it, and praying to God that he caught it in time. His leg throbbed from the impact and he stuggled to his hands and feet, staring up at the blade.

"Will's going to kill me if that thing impacts," he realized.

'Vadum gave a battlecry as he leapt aside the Megacrackers giant weapon, rolling to his feet in one motion before charging in towards the large monstrosity of a nutcracker.

Sprinting forward even as the earth began to rise, the Sangheili leaping up the slop of that rising earth using it as something of a catapult, springing high from it and toward the huge nutcracker's down swinging arm.

Impacting heavily 'Vadum scrabbled for a grip, driving his blade into the side of the arm even as his free hand found a grip. The Sangheili using all of his strength as he dragged and swung himself further up the arm with both hand and blade, attempting to reach the monstrosities head.

"I really feel inferior around all of you" Booth commented. He was beginning to wish he had some kind of magical powers or something. But another part of him knew that there were things just as important-courage, integrity, honor...

He just wished he could be more effective in this fight somehow. His bullets were slowing the 'bots, but metal isn't something you can penetrate well unless it's very thin.
