Good-will Toward Men
There is a whole world out there to spread holiday joy to. A world of flying cars, and massive towering skyscrapers, of quiet, cold deserts, of snow-covered cities. Everyone in it is either holed up in their homes, hooked into the Links, the network run by Macrohard, abstaining from human contact, or they're poor and destitute, in the streets, and in parts of the world that are ailing right now.
Some of them are due to stop in on specific parts of the world during their journeys. Others are just going to be show generosity to anyone they meet. Every angle has to be covered, every holiday that celebrates generosity and unity, to help stoke the fires and revive the Holiday Spirit.
Pick a place, Meatcrew. Grab some crewmates to help. Make some noise and entice people to leave their VR sets and come outside with their fellow man.
With the magical sacks, containing last of the Spirit's power, they can give anything that's wanted OR needed to the people of this world, and with the enchanted flying cars, they can get anywhere in the world to do it, in no time.
[ooc: Special holiday groups, tag your assigned subthreads (and keeping them in one thread would likely be best, since those groups are small). Whoever feels creative can pick an exact location and set up details--we wanted to give you some freedom to have your characters find where to go. Anyone else, doing Christmas or general gift-giving, tag and make new subthreads for each situation of gift-giving. These can stand alone as vignettes, but we encourage everyone to thread-hop and tag in to random threads. Don't worry about the organization of groups, they'll probably be switching groups all over the place throughout the night.]

General Gift Giving - The Caribbean
Re: General Gift Giving - The Caribbean
"Ladies, ladies, laugh all you want, but you know you'd rather be sitting in my lap and telling me what you want for the holidays rather than any fat guy, candy cane tights aside."
Re: General Gift Giving - The Caribbean
"Now, all you girls, we need you to form two lines. If you've been nice, you go see Kon-Elf. And if you've been naughty, you definitely need to come sit on my lap for a bit.
"Guys.... y'all just chill out for a bit, go for a swim or something and we'll get to you."
Re: General Gift Giving - The Caribbean
Oh Christmas! Chopper loved Christmas for many reasons. One - his birthday was Christmas Eve. Two - Christmas meant getting presents and sweets! Luckily his sack had provided him with cotton candy, he was in heaven. Three - he was a blue-nosed reindeer that came from a winter island where he used to pull his mentor around on a sleigh. You couldn't get more Christmas than Chopper himself.
So what was a reindeer doing at the Caribbean? Tony Tony Chopper did a little bit of research just before they came to this Earth. And he found out that there used to be pirates here. He was secretly hoping to see what this 'Earth's' pirates were like and if they still existed. Truth be told, he was missing the sea breeze and sailing on boat.
So Chopper being happy was an understatement and as a result, he forgot about his reservations he had with the strangers he came to the islands with. Christmas does that to a reindeer.
"I can't swim, but when are we going to give presents?? There are somethings I'd like to do if there's time."

"Why don't we just, y'know...get this done and move on to the next place we need to be?" Jamie suggests, shrugging in the fur-trimmed red coat he got stuck with. It's hot, but he's not sure that he wants to take it off and be left wearing nothing but his plantsuit in front of a bunch of strangers.
Re: General Gift Giving - The Caribbean
He promises he'll remember if you repeat it.

Re: General Gift Giving - The Caribbean
"This whole thing's about joy and generosity and all that stuff, right?" Kon starts to say, but then a little girl in a sundress and floppy hat comes over, looking excited, holding her--well, very attractive mother's hand.
"Hold that thought." Kon turns away from Jamie for a second. "Are you her big sister? Oh--oh, her mom, wow, you know, I never would have guessed? That's a very flattering sarong."
The mother gets a pair of nice sunglasses, the kid gets a digital art set, with the no-spill electronic equivalents of crayons and markers and the like. When she sees it, she lets out a squeal of joy.
"What do you say, sweetie?" asks the very-flattered mom.
"Thank you, Mr. Elf!" says the girl, grinning a big sunny grin at Superboy.
Kon kneels and grins right back, reaching a hand out to tousle a curly blond head. "No prob, munchkin. You have lots of fun with that, okay?"
"I wanna drawed cartoons someday! For the Links!"
"I bet you'll become a famous artist someday. Wanna bet?" says Kon, and he's still grinning as the mother leads the kids off, listening to her daughter babbling excitedly about what she's going to draw.
Kon turns back to Jamie. "Like I was saying, it's about joy and generosity and all that good stuff, right? How's it gonna to help finish the mission if we don't feel those things, too? How's it gonna help if we're just doing it to hurry up and finish the mission so we can book it, rather than taking time to enjoy the giving and all the helping people? If this spirit-guy will get healed by all those good feelings and beliefs, it'll help we feel 'em. Just like us all taking time to have fun in the snow was what even opened the portal to let us get to where we needed to go."
He grins over at Jamie.
"It's not a contest--it's never really about how many you help--it's more about how much you mean it."
Re: General Gift Giving - The Caribbean
"Kon, Johnny..." or whatever the hell that kid's name was, "Y'all excuse me for a second. Gotta go spread a bit more holiday cheer."
Re: General Gift Giving - The Caribbean
He returns his attention to Kon, fidgeting a little. "That's - wul. I...mean it, I guess, I mean I wanna help people, just. I'm not good with, y'know." He makes a vague, awkward gesture at the departing woman and child. "Being...cheerful."

As if the whole being dimensionally-displaced thing isn't a big deal or anything, but he does seem to care.

Kon just looks out at the ocean.
"I'm not one of those stupid people that thinks 'Hey, everyone should be an outgoing person like me,' but I'm also not used to people that can't just...take joy in stuff. Well, people other than one of my best friends, but he knows how to laugh--it's just it can be hard to get him there sometimes."
He pauses.
"Which is probably why I'm noticing it with you. I keep thinking 'how can I make this guy laugh despite himself?'"
no subject
"Hnh. Other people've tried," he replies. "Look, I don't see a whole lot to be joyful about right now. I'll help make other people happy," he says, jerking his chin at the people around them, "but I'm gonna leave the laughing and goofing around to everyone else."

He takes a deep breath.
"But we're alive, right? We're alive to try to fix it all. Good or bad, we have that chance." He closes his eyes. The sun is dim, even here, where it's warmer and brighter than the rest of the world, it's still dim, but it's still sun.
"And can't you feel that sun?"
no subject
He casts a glance skyward, squinting a little into the sun as Kon points it out. "It's...sun. I mean, 's nice after months stuck on a spaceship, but..." He lifts one shoulder in a cautious shrug.

"If it's not bummed, what are you?"
