Extreme Like Soup Exploding! [LAB SAFETY DAY]
This was it, the day that Instructors Callahan and Cranston had been anticipating (and perhaps, on Mr. Cranston's part, dreading). This afternoon, in a Sensorium-created laboratory, their students would be learning laboratory safety protocol and putting it into practice.
As students enter and receive greetings from Billy, they'll notice the main features of the laboratory if they choose to look around. A desk sits in the front of the room with boxes of supplies piled on it. In the middle sits a mysterious boiling pot. One one side of the room sits an eye wash station that shouldn't be needed today. Long work tables stretch from the front of the room to the rear, surrounded by simple stools, and a white cabinet sits to the side of the room, opened to reveal hair ties, gloves, and goggles.
Behind the desk sits a chalkboard, where Billy has written a list of paired names. Feel free to react in dismay or horror at your lab partners, students, but your instructors won't be budging. They have their reasons. When everyone arrives and is seated, they'll begin.
After processing all this, there might be another question on their minds---where's Wyn disappeared to? Students unfortunate enough to fail to arrive on time will soon find out...
((And the nightmare begins! Start tagging in the first few subthreads, team. If you're not already on the lab partner list but would still like to participate, feel free to contact Kuroi or Zoki on AIM or comment to this post, and we'll set you up. Have fun!))

Arrivals/Meeting Up With Partners!
The pairs of partners will also find each other---and in most cases, they won't like it.
Re: Arrivals/Meeting Up With Partners!
He's never had a chemistry lesson before. Granted, he's a tetch young, but school classes for Backdraft children aren't quite the same.

"Do you know what we're doing today?" he asks. Vega's not too sure about anything schooling. Schooling is usually boring. It's part of how life works.

Truly, she was a child after Luis's heart. In fact, because she was learning something, it made Sherry that much more pleasant to be around. "Good afternoon," she greeted Billy with a shy smile.no subject

Re: Arrivals/Meeting Up With Partners!
So here he is. He's old enough that the school part isn't mandatory, so he's hoping he'll be able to get away with just watching. But he's still utterly convinced something will go horribly wrong.
He's looking a bit grumpy as he comes in, however - especially as he's not seeing anywhere to sit that doesn't look like a work table.
Spotting Billy, he makes his way over to him, and nods a greeting. "So - where do ye sit if ye are just going to watch?" It's worth a try, anyway.

Re: Arrivals/Meeting Up With Partners!
It was fortunate that this class was being held in the Sensoriums, because that was one of the few places that Aeneas could reliably find his way to. Otherwise he might not have ever made it.
Walking inside, looking lost regardless of if he actually was or not (he wasn’t), the creature first saw the board. And there were those mysterious human runes again…Although Stacy was nice enough to translate them for him.
Aeneas walked closer, more interested in the board than the boiling pot of mysterious substance in the middle of the simulated room. He proceeded to memorize the symbols that represented his name. “A”…”E”…”N”…
Oh? But there was another name next to his, wasn’t there? He would have to locate this “Kelly” person, if she was already here. Of course Aeneas wouldn’t know, so he turned to the human male standing nearby that he assumed would.
“Hello,” blinked the alien, looking a little awkward squeezed behind that tiny desk, “Do you know if ‘Kelly’ is here yet?”

"Are you Hunter?"
And there's your floating thirteen year old partner, Hunter.

Spotting Cassie over near Billy, he stepped up to the pair. "Hey guys."

He better have brought enough for the whole class, right?
Re: Arrivals/Meeting Up With Partners!
"We haven't had the opportunity to review the rules yet, but we don't allow eating in the laboratory." He doesn't sound particularly stern about it.

Stragglers
Some of our students are also being manhandled through the door by one Wyn Callahan. Complain all you want, but it won't help you. Go find your partners, stragglers.

... yes, she just turned 'science' into a verb.

You can see the smile in-between his fingers, though. He's not doing a good job at covering it up.
