Transmigration 9: Brave New Worlds

Erwin was still in a state of mild shock after his arrival on board Stacy. The idea that his whole world and with it, everyone he'd ever known or cared about, his parents, his comrades, all gone. As surely as if they had been struck by a bomb. The very idea that there were weapons powerful enough to annihilate whole planets and universes stunned him. The fact that he, out of all people, had been saved seemed strange. He wasn't anyone important. He was just a footsoldier. An oberschütze from an infantry division in the German army. He wasn't an officer or a general or even a great politician. Why hadn't the ship saved Rommel or Guderian? Someone who was brilliant? As to why he'd been chosen, he had no idea.

After the breakup of the meet and greet, he'd taken the time to explore and poke around. He'd seen the cafeteria (the food there seemed even worse then army rations), the Sensoriums (which had spooked him, badly), and finally gone to look at the room he'd be staying in. He'd been pleasantly surprised there - a real bed, sheets, a shower. It was luxury compared to what he'd had in Russia or even in France. He'd returned to the observation deck, looking out into the stars. It was so strange to see them like this.

The strange, biological nature of the ship unnerved him even more. Still, he'd nowhere else to go. He pulled up a chair and sat down. He was rather glad his gear had come with him - he had a pack of cards in there, after all - and began dealing himself a hand of solitare, glancing up occasionally to see who else might wander by. Maybe he could interest someone in a game of skat or just idle conversation....
It wouldn't have been much of an exaggeration to say that Roy hasn't really left his room for a month. Prone to more than a bit of over-thinking things, he's nearly driven himself insane with all the dwelling he's done. Really, though, what else is one supposed to do when they find out that everything they've been taken away from is gone?

It doesn't help that he hasn't run into a single person he's known yet, that Ed or Riza or Havoc or General Armstrong or anyone hasn't come wandering dazedly into the Obs Deck after waking up naked and covered in alien snot. Hell, at this point, he would have been happy to see the goddamn Führer, but it really doesn't look like that's gonna happen, does it?

Fortunately, he's come to a stable enough state of mind that he feels comfortable leaving the confines of his room in favor of the dim, winding hallways. He passes through a few of the more open spaces, but tries to stick to the less traveled paths skirting places like the Sensoriums and the City, snapping occasionally to keep himself occupied. The small bursts of flame throw his shadow on the curved walls, twisting and contorting enough to make him smirk grimly, something vague and dark about Ishval floating through his head.

In such a fashion, Roy effectively putters about, muttering to himself, rubbing his forehead to banish bad thoughts, dark eyes flashing the whole while.
Rein was very hungry when the Meet and Greet had separated, and found her way to the cafeteria. Taking up a tray twice her size with considerable effort, she floated over, hoping to get something like a cherry tomato or maybe some pasta.

SPLORCH

Staring at the goop, she tentatively poked it. It had the consistency of jello mixed with gravy. "This is it? This is food desu?"

The device started to tear up. "This is food?! NOOOOOO DESU!"

Sadly, Rein floated her tray back to the table and poked it with a fork.

She could have sworn it moved.
There was little in the way to do for the time being, having been a new arrival on the ship and people away on some mission or another. It was as good a time as any to get settled in to the new life that was going to he handed to them on the ship. Not that red head was particularly pleased with the predicament that she found herself in with the whole thing of her universe being destroyed by this Ohm that no one really seemed to know about. That didn't settle well in the pit of her stomach at all. How were they supposed to fight a force that could destroy everything without knowing strengths and weaknesses? Kenzi seriously hopped that the command staff knew what the ruttin' heck they were doing.

After a few hours of exploring the ship she found herself in the observation deck again. Watching the stars above them had been fascinating at first with the different formations she hadn't seen before on any of the planets the Browncoats fought on or when she was in the POW camp. Which was probably why not thirty minutes in to being there that Gwen had taken the time to find a quiet spot feeling the need to stop being antsy. So she had started in to the motions they had taught them all in basic first. Her motions were slow, controlled, and fluid shifting from one style to the next depending on the mood as it struck her.

This? Was calming and relaxing. Dealing with the issue of worlds going explodie and not getting back to her troops? Not so calming and relaxing.
10:30 pm - Scared

After finally getting the courage to move from her spot, finding suitable clothing, or something like a body suit, Tohru got enough courage to leave the area of the ship named Stacy. Her footsteps in the ship were slow and unsure, she was scared still, and she wasn’t sure what was really going on. The body suit she had on felt strange and felt like it was alive against her skin. It had a soft blue-ish glow to it with soft white lines that moved like waves of sand in the breeze. It was strange, really, she didn’t know how she got there, she didn’t really understand why she was there and why she, of all people, would be chosen to help destroy worlds. Why would she destroy worlds? That was an awful thought! She didn’t want to do that! That would only cause pain…and suffering. It wouldn’t be right! It wasn’t right! It would never be right no matter what the circumstances.

Mulling over these new things in her head, she then came across another thought, was her world destroyed to? Did that mean everyone…everyone she loved and knew was now…gone? “Oh…oh no!” she felt the sting of tears in her eyes. She lost them all and there was nothing that she could do now? Stopping in the middle of the hall or whatever it was, putting her head in her hands and letting out a sob. “They can’t be all gone…that can’t be possible.” She refused to believe it. Rubbing her navy blue eyes free of any tears, looking up toward the ceiling and speaking out loud again “Oh, mom, please help me. I-If it’s not too much, please give me some of your fighting strength…” She desperately needed that fighting strength as well. Without it, she could crumble.

At that moment, her eyes went wide and her stomach nearly turned, where were the pictures of her mother? She was never parted from her mother. She still wanted to have that never ending bond with her. Even though she knew that after she had told Kyo that she loved him, and she parted with the bond, she didn’t want to forget that part in her life that she kept so well hidden inside that box within her heart that was never to be opened. She was frantic now, whipping her head about, looking around the floor and then saying aloud “C-Can someone help me, please? If it’s not too much of a burden?”
