Burning the Midnight Oil [open]
After everything that had happened in the past couple of days, anyone else would be asleep. Peter, however, was acquainting himself with the medbay more, thinking like a paramedic. If there were an emergency, he wanted to be prepared and on-hand to help.
Besides, he was used to working triple shifts. Sleep was for other people.
People walking around in similar insomniac states may notice the italian eagle scout doing his thing.

"Hey man. You guys got a magnifying glass, tweasers, and a penlight I could borrow?" That's when it hit him he hadn't met this guy yet. "Oh, i'm Static, by the way."
no subject
"Hey. Peter." He offered a hand. "We should have the tweezers and pen-light..."

"What the...?!" Was all he got out before being deluged with bedpans.
He REALLY needs to start asking people if they have powers before he touches them. There weren't such concentrated numbers of metas where he was from for this to be an issue.
no subject
He failed.
"Oh, man! When I got my powers, all I had to deal with was socks sticking to me..." he snorted. "Wow. So, I guess you're some kind of power mimic, then?"

He'd get around to fixing his schedule eventually but for now... medbay could use a few more people who were actually alert on the nightshift.
"Hey there." he greeted, waving to the bay's other occupant as he stepped in and surveyed the beds where many patients were still laid up recovering. "How's everything tonight?"
no subject
"Everyone's stable, and thankfully quiet." He said in response, trying to gauge who this man was exactly. "I'm... Peter. Peter Petrelli. I think I saw you helping people during the..." This would never stop sounding odd. "... Zombie fallout..." He offered a now latex-gloved hand, having learned from his encounter with Static moments earlier.
no subject
"Dr. McNinja but just call me Doc if you like. Yeah I was part of the crew a while before this whole zombie thing hit but there's this one ship AI that likes to snatch people up and make them run mazes for the promise of cake sometimes and Nanoha and I were stuck with her until midway through everything going down."
He shrugged, going to stuff his hands into his pockets and then making a frustrated face when he remembered he still didn't have his lab coat back. He'd left it with Jean when she'd fallen asleep in it the first 'night' after the raid and he'd failed to run into her to ask for it back since.
He probably looked kind of dumb wandering around in plantsuit, mask, tie and stethoscope.
"Uh, I usually have a lab coat but I loaned it to somebody."
no subject
"Well, it's nice to meet you, Doc. Don't worry about the lab coat, you're still more professional looking than some doctors I've worked with. Though the mask is a new one on me." He smiled. Even as weird as the situation was, as depressing, there were enough good points so far on this ship to make it seem not-so-bad, the people he had been meeting being a few of them.
"So, my brother Nathan said I had to talk to people about being officially cleared to work here... And mentioned Captain Picard.." This last part was said with a bit of a confused note. "Do you know who I'd talk to, Doctor?"
no subject
"Technically you should probably talk to Picard too just to heads up him that you're here, but it's Jean who orchestrates all the med staff so I'd talk to her first. She'll probably be in to check on her patients later today. She's the redhead who will occasionally answer questions you haven't asked her yet." he smirked. "She's a telepath. Just to warn you. Try not to picture her naked or she'll slam you into a rolly chair and be irritated all day."
The Doc moved over then to take a look at a few of the patients who's IV's and such he had set up, then he nodded to Paco.
"That one is yours right? How's he doing?"

(so sophisticated it could put Franky's inventions to shame)that blew his mind.He entered the Medbay as quietly as he could, trying to go unseen as he tried to observe what the other doctors were doing. He didn't have to be a doctor at the moment so his timid demeanor was back into place. That being said, he was excited at the possibility of learning all new medical techniques!
no subject
"Hey there... Dr. Chopper, right?" Peter said warmly. "Came to check up?"
no subject
"Yup, but everyone seems to be taken care of. I wanna learn more about the Medbay. I haven't seen a lot of these instruments before!"
no subject
"Yeah, some of these are pretty alien even to me. But if you want, I could describe some of the ones I recognize to you." Peter smiled. You couldn't help but like the little guy.

Chopper perked up at the offer! Coooooool! Then he quickly looked around the room at all the different machines he'd never seen before. In Chopper's world, there weren't many machines used for medicine at all. It was mostly pure knowlegde that Chopper relied on to diagnose and heal his patients.
Pointing with a hoof at a machine that was actually an X-Ray, Chopper asked "What's that for?"

Pausing, she glanced up suddenly catching a presence she hadn't noticed before. Her gaze shifted around slowly until it feel on the man who was busy checking over the patients.
She didn't recognize him, but she knew there had been a pod pop during the battle for the bridge. "Hello?" she called out softly to him as she made her way over to where he was working.
no subject
Stunning. That was it, and then immediately back to medicine and compulsory introduction, which he proceeded to do. He approached her and offered his hand.
"Peter Petrelli. Licensed nurse and EMT." His hands were gloved, and a quick image of the instance with Static burst through his head.
"And you are...?"
no subject
"Ah, it's nice to meet you Mr. Petrelli. I'm Doctor Jean Grey," she reaches out and carefully shakes his hand. "I'm in charge of the medbay and as such I must say it's always nice to get more medical staff."
no subject
"Oh, good to meet you, Dr. Grey. I had actually meant to talk to you about that." Peter stopped, images of his older brother's mockery from when he had graduated from nursing school flashing unbidden through his mind.
"Nathan hasn't said anything about me, has he?" Because that would be both embarrassing and evervating.
no subject
"No, he hasn't," Jean smiled at him reassuringly. "Nathan and I haven't really gotten the chance to talk about much outside of things dealing with the crew."
She glances down at the patient Peter had been checking. "How long have you been a nurse?"

"You're going to wear a rut in the floor, if you keep that up." Then again, Chris was in no condition to enforce anything, bedridden as he was.
no subject
"Yeah, but Stacy seems like she'll heal." He moved over to Chris. "You doing okay?"
no subject
"I'll be fine. Trust me, I've been through worse." And indeed he had, at least, in his mind. He held out a hand for Peter a second later. "Name's Chris Redfield. Former U.S. Air Force, former Racoon City Police Department Special Tactics And Rescue Squad - or S.T.A.R.S. for short - and now, I'm an agent for the United Nation's Bioterrorism Security Assessment Alliance. This stuff has gotten all too normal for me."
no subject
"I hear you there. Peter Petrelli." Peter shook his hand. "You should still let me do a lookup on those gashes, infection can be a tricky bastard."
