Burning the Midnight Oil [open]

After everything that had happened in the past couple of days, anyone else would be asleep. Peter, however, was acquainting himself with the medbay more, thinking like a paramedic. If there were an emergency, he wanted to be prepared and on-hand to help.

Besides, he was used to working triple shifts. Sleep was for other people.

People walking around in similar insomniac states may notice the italian eagle scout doing his thing.

Static came in, stifling a yawn. His sleep cycle was...horrible, to say the least. Well, having a real bed again helped, but there always seemed to be more work to do than hours in a day.

"Hey man. You guys got a magnifying glass, tweasers, and a penlight I could borrow?" That's when it hit him he hadn't met this guy yet. "Oh, i'm Static, by the way."

[identity profile] static-shock68.livejournal.com 2009-11-16 12:27 am (UTC)(link)
Static shook his hand happily. It was rare (and nice) to find someone else who was active at this time of day. "Thanks, but the glass is what I really need. Stopped by engineering for one already, and all the ones they had were bolted to the desks..."

[identity profile] static-shock68.livejournal.com 2009-11-16 12:32 am (UTC)(link)
Static tried really hard not to laugh.

He failed.

"Oh, man! When I got my powers, all I had to deal with was socks sticking to me..." he snorted. "Wow. So, I guess you're some kind of power mimic, then?"

[identity profile] static-shock68.livejournal.com 2009-11-16 12:37 am (UTC)(link)
"Best to assume everyone here has some sort of power, even if that power is just being badass. 'Story threads' and everything, right?"

Static began to look around, hoping against hope to find a damn magnifying glass. On a ship this advanced, why was it so hard to find some stupid curved glass?

[identity profile] static-shock68.livejournal.com 2009-11-16 03:36 am (UTC)(link)
"Ah, finally! Man, I've had one hell of a time trying to eyeball some of Stacy's...well, eyeballs. Some of the nerve connections on her sensors are really tiny, and really, really fried." Static walked over and took the glass. "This is gonna save me sooo much time... So, what're you in for?"

[identity profile] static-shock68.livejournal.com 2009-11-16 03:49 am (UTC)(link)
"Well, what my tneure here has garnered for me is that all of us have done something big in our lives. But not just something big and important; we've also all made at least one GIGANTIC screw-up that's landed us in this cosmic crab shack. I was askin' for your story, if that's cool. I mean, I assume you got here in the pop with my girl Rose, since I hadn't seen you around before then, but..." He shrugged.

"Just cool to make friends, right?"

[identity profile] static-shock68.livejournal.com 2009-11-16 03:57 am (UTC)(link)
"Only one dead girlfriend that I know of. But really, all that in three years? Sounds like a sadly calm place." Static grinned. "I've been capin' it up for..oh, two years or so now. I've only saved the world twice, though. You know how it is; fight a scret agency that created metahumans, join a superteam, fight a bunch of bad guys, quit a superteam, find out superheroes are being abducted, save 'em all, form a new superteam (the ever aptly named 'Heroes'. I don't care WHAT they say, that's not a name, just a job description). Quit that team, go to a public school, fight more people, save the world, get abducted by a different group of people who're targeting just superpowered teens, get forced to fight in gladitorial combat, complete with killing your opponents, bust out, join a new team, save the world, watch a good friend die, then wake up here." He gasped, having spun all that out as quickly as he could.

"Holy crap, my life is like a seven year comic series."

[identity profile] static-shock68.livejournal.com 2009-11-16 04:05 am (UTC)(link)
"Sleep is for people who don't have coffee and electricity in their veins. Seriously, if Batman and Robin don't need it, neither do I. I've got a superteam here to organize and run, Sensors to repair myself, and all of Stacy's other repairs to oversee, plus I still need to get to work and build some new tools..." He shook his head.

"I may only be Sixteen, but doing the whole 'cape' thing gets you lots of practice at being up for classes and out on patrols 'til 3 AM. Triple shifts are just kind of...natural." He smiled. "What's your excuse?"

[identity profile] static-shock68.livejournal.com 2009-11-16 04:13 am (UTC)(link)
"It's true. Well, I think. Technically. Between you and me? I think he may be some kind of robot. So, medical tech, huh? Bet that's really gonna mess with the 'touchy-power' thing... Good luck to ya there." Static shook his head at the though of Peter, every time he needed to work on someone, accidentally getting there powers. Then, he checked his pockets.

"Alright, I've got what I needed. I ought to get back to the bridge and get it finished up. Thanks, man; its been nice getting to know ya. Maybe we'll see each other around sometime."

Doc is up because... well just because he is. After being up for nearly 35 hours solid with all the chaos after the fight he'd looked Jean over and then collapsed innto sleep for about 18 hours solid. He's wokenn up at an odd hour and was now consistenty dropping off to sleep in the middle of the day only to wake up for most of the night.

He'd get around to fixing his schedule eventually but for now... medbay could use a few more people who were actually alert on the nightshift.

"Hey there." he greeted, waving to the bay's other occupant as he stepped in and surveyed the beds where many patients were still laid up recovering. "How's everything tonight?"

Tony Tony Chopper had slept all he could after most things started to calm down in the Medbay after that announcement by the ship-lady. He couldn't sleep anymore. So he made his way to the Medbay to see what he could do. There were so many things in this high tech Medbay (so sophisticated it could put Franky's inventions to shame) that blew his mind.

He entered the Medbay as quietly as he could, trying to go unseen as he tried to observe what the other doctors were doing. He didn't have to be a doctor at the moment so his timid demeanor was back into place. That being said, he was excited at the possibility of learning all new medical techniques!

Doc doesn't bat an eye at the glove, used to different practitioners having different weird idiosyncrasies about their work. He shakes Peter's hand warmly.

"Dr. McNinja but just call me Doc if you like. Yeah I was part of the crew a while before this whole zombie thing hit but there's this one ship AI that likes to snatch people up and make them run mazes for the promise of cake sometimes and Nanoha and I were stuck with her until midway through everything going down."

He shrugged, going to stuff his hands into his pockets and then making a frustrated face when he remembered he still didn't have his lab coat back. He'd left it with Jean when she'd fallen asleep in it the first 'night' after the raid and he'd failed to run into her to ask for it back since.

He probably looked kind of dumb wandering around in plantsuit, mask, tie and stethoscope.

"Uh, I usually have a lab coat but I loaned it to somebody."

"Dr. Jean Grey is head of medical division last I was updated." he said, rubbing the back of his neck tiredly.

"Technically you should probably talk to Picard too just to heads up him that you're here, but it's Jean who orchestrates all the med staff so I'd talk to her first. She'll probably be in to check on her patients later today. She's the redhead who will occasionally answer questions you haven't asked her yet." he smirked. "She's a telepath. Just to warn you. Try not to picture her naked or she'll slam you into a rolly chair and be irritated all day."

The Doc moved over then to take a look at a few of the patients who's IV's and such he had set up, then he nodded to Paco.

"That one is yours right? How's he doing?"
