Building a family [hella open]

Slobo had been puttering around the ship for an hour, thinking and looking. He quickly found that if you looked hard enough, between W&P and the City itself, you could find anything. In the end, he was standing outside a Courtyard by Marriott hotel about a click outside of "Escherville" with spraypaint and a very large block of stone. At first he had thought about the Vatican, but it was too wrecked from the zombie fight. Plus, this place had an indoor pool. He spraypainted a large message on the wall next to the door, red with black outline.

On the sandwich board tucked near the door, he wrote "~~12-21?~~ Info and Tryouts inside" and left it out in front. Now, he took his large rock into the lobby and began carving. And waited.

"I've been here, kinda took a break back in the pods for a bit. Things got a little dicey. Apparently the Zombie fest needed me, 'cause Stacy popped me again."

She shrugged as well as she could while treading water and swam closer to the side of the pool, hoisting herself up on her elbows to give him a big grin. "What about you? How long have you been around here?"

"Maybe a month, month and a half. Dunno, it's like time bends here. I was on the crew that took back the bridge." He took off his coat and hung it on a hook, sticking the key cards in a pocket, before kneeling down at the pool's edge. "Please tell me you're actually joining the team and not just borrowing our pool; I could use the help of another former-but-not-titan."

"I just got out the night those things decided to make lunch meat of the pod room." But she was anxious to hear about his own adventure. "You gotta fill me in on what happened on your end."

"Hey when the cutie out front mentioned bad attitudes wanted, how could I refuse? You know me, always looking for the next group I can get kicked out of."

Static smiled. "Welp, that's it then, I'm kicking you out. We'll have none of that 'I want out' crap here. This here's for the 'I already got kicked out' people. So, out you go. We'll ship you're stuff to you." He laughed. It's been a while since he actually laughed.

"We...we went through some serious s^&t. First, Jaime, y'know, Blue Beetle, mapped out a lot of Stacy's systems, then we had to send probes through, and ninjas, just to get the damn doors open. Once we got on the other side, we were ambushed by a computer program. Yes, it's as pathetic as it sounds."

"Jaime?" He filled her in a moment later and she nodded, following along with his story. though some of it sounded far fetched it wasn't exactly like zombies made a ton of sense either.

"Sounds like you had as much fun as we did. I was down int he cavern, you know the initial hey I'm naked and covered in goo experience. Well add to that the zombies and bodies and the others that were fighting beside me. One guy actually tore one of the things arms off and started beating them with it."

"Ooh, smooth. There's something charming about beating something to death with it's own arm." Another chuckle. "Anyway, yeah, the AI was what released the zombies in the rest of the ship, and it sealed us away from everyone else. Then tried ti kill us with a traditional super-villain death maze. That's where Paco, one of Jaime's friends, lost his arm. After we got away from that, we ran into a young Lex Luthor... there was an argument, in which it was determined by everyone else that Luthor was evil and so were Slobo, Katara and me from defending him after they knocked him out... I think that's where the idea for the team comes from. And then, we finally made it to the damn bridge."

Yeah, Virgil was rambling, but c'mon, he had a beautiful naked girl who happened to be hanging out, naked, with him. Could you really blame him?

"They what? Wait wait..so is this the leading logic now? Beat first because you think something is a threat? Fuck that, I'll be back in my pod." She muttered about the idea. "You know, at least I waited to see if someone deserved a beating before I went off. I'm on your side with this one, that was total bullshit."

The smile slipped to a frown, this was feeling more and more like the oppressive way Cassie was trying to lead the Titans. "Wasn't by chance a fluffy blond in the lead was there? Sounds about like Wonder Barbie and her amazing convenient ethics."

"She was there, but she actually didn't say anything. Brainy knocked him out before anything had really been discussed; he didn't do it on anyone's orders. I think he just didn't want us to get stuck arguing about it, which, of course, we did anyway. Anyway, after that, we raided the bridge, fought some pirates... they ran away, leaving a nice, big hole int he side of the ship. The other Brainy, the robot one, shut the hull door and took a huge beam to the chest. Didn't stand a chance. Then we fixed the controls and brought Stacy back online. You know the rest."

He laid down on the tile as he continued the story, tilting his head to face her. The exhaustion was back in his voice. "The whole thing was pretty nasty on all of us, but it definitely wasn't Cassie's fault."

It was at this point Slobo walked in, looking paler than usual.

"I think... I think I just recruited a giant, talkin' hedgehog wearin' rocket shoes..." He just stared at Static. "I am NEVER spray-paintin' without a mask again, V. EVER." With that, he disrobed and jumped into the pool.

"So what are we talkin' about?"

Sheeana followed, intensely curious about this 'pool' facility.

When she rounded the corner, she stopped still in her tracks and gaped. You would think she was staring at the naked people.

You'd be wrong.

"Well it must be a miracle, the day Cass shuts up. I still don't like it though." She made her, Rose is unhappy face. Not unhappy to the point of beating someone, but she wasn't thrilled with being back under the leadership of that blond bimbette.

"Please tell me she is not part of this--" Slobo seemed to stagger in and she grinned again. Without ceremony he stripped down and jumped into the pool. Rose half turned and snickered. "He knows how to make an entrance I'll give him that." She nodded. "But do you think the hedgehog thing was because of the paint fumes?"

Static covered his eyes. "Chalky white wang... that is something I NEVER needed to see... no, she hasn't asked to join, but I wouldn't turn her away if she did, as long as she knew that A) this isn't her team, it's mine , and B) you were here first."

He finished rubbing his eyes, hoping the image wasn't burned into his retinas. There was a series of nightmares he REALLY didn't need. "Around here, though? It's only a 50/50 shot that he was hallucinating."

"Aww' c'mon, Static. Ain't like Compumom gave us swimsuits." He grinned at Rose, then noticing Sheeana staring at the pool. "It don't bite, Bright Eyes. join the party." Then he turned to Static.

"Wondy ain't on this team till she proves herself, V. That's my call. I got good reason."

Sheeana approached the pool with slow, hesitant steps. When she was close enough she sat on her heels and dipped two fingers into it experimentally. "Never have I seen so much...in one place..." The air was thick with the scent of it and she had to resist the Fremen urge to start lapping it up.

"See? This is why this team is perfect for me. Finally some one with enough," A smirking look into the water, "balls to stand up to the Amazon Barbie."

Rose pushed off from the wall and slid beneath the surface of the water, swimming the length of the pool and back to find new company joined them. "Seen so much what? Sparkling blue chemically treated goodness? Or nudity?"

"Hey, we're building the team on the idea that all are welcome here, that's all I'm saying. You guys have beefs with her, I'm cool with saying no. Well, I knew you had a beef with her, Rose, I mean, I've seen you two fight often enough... Oh, wait, that reminds me, this Cassie was pulled from before she ever met you! That means we get to make whole new problems with her." He chuckled a bit at the idea.

Static looked up at Sheeana. "You gonna be alright? The water's nice and warm, just don't drink it."

"All I'm sayin' is she starts on that morality crap and then goes nuts. Not a good fit here." It was that simple for Slobo. That and he hated being lectured. He turned his attention to Sheeana.

"Seriously, Bright Eyes, it's all good. We got a river god. It's the newest craze in pool upkeep."

Sheeana stood, numbed by this sight, and pulled her plantsuit off as if it were the most casual thing in the world. revealing a small frame, lithe with constant Prana-Bindu training.

She got down to her hands and knees again, face inches from the water. "You put chemicals in it?" Yes, now she could smell it. The structure was different from how water should smell. "Why would you ever do that?"

"I get the feeling my existing is reason enough for Cass to hate me." She waved it off and splashed Slobo playfully.

"More the merrier." She gestured Sheeana in, knowing her or not. "It's supposed to purify the water."

"The chemicals prevent algea and bacteria from growing, and keep the water clear. But, since we've got...what-was-his-name, the dragon, on our team, apparently he's purifying the water for us, since he's a river diety." Static got up slowly and walked behind Sheeana. "It really is nice, you know."

This was probably a bad idea, but sometimes, bad ideas are the most fun. So he pushed her forward, into the pool.

"River god trumps chlorine, really." Slobo said as he saw Static begin to push. This could not end well for anyone in the water. Luckily, Slobo was pretty used to electrical shock. Even if it came from the world's biggest toaster.

"POOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL!" There's a brown blur, then a massive splash as Sokka cannonballs into the water with a whoop of joy. This is just what he needs after all that pirate zombie crap!

Indeed it was. "Ghafla!" A shouted Fremen curse as she seized the offending limb, purely on instinct, and twisted in midair, coming down on Static. Had this been on land it would have resulted in a vicious impact, Sheeana's shoulder propelled by gravity and momentum into his sternum.

But here it was an abrupt conversion of both into flaily drowning people, first toaster-boy, then Fremen girl.

Shai-hulud help whoever jumped in the pool at that moment.

"Wait a sec...we have a river god..in here...now?" Rose glanced around, not seeing anything in the water. But she only had a moment to look before the new girl was tumbling in. Water splashed up over her head and Rose blocked herself with her hand.

Unfortunately she missed the second cannonballer. Soon Rose was awash in pool water and laughing hysterically. "If this place had booze, smokes and sex I'd be tempted to call it heaven."

Really bad plan. As he went down, Virgil (henceforth known as toaster-boy) tried to reach into his coat to grab his disk; he could use it to keep himself out of the water and avoid the shock to everyone.

Of course, his coat was hanging on a peg on the wall.

CRAAAP!

It was about all he thought as he hit the water, trying his best to hold in his power, not let any electricity seep out into the pool.

He failed.

It wasn't as bad as it could have been, not like a full burst of his power in a small pool, but the short wasn't tiny by any means. The room sparked for a minute as his powers shorted out, giving everyone in the pool a nasty shock, like ramping a car battery through your arms for a quick second. And then the plantsuit started the drink and expand.

A really stupid idea...

Toaster-boy flailed under the water for a few seconds, trying to untangle himself from Sheeana, before getting air and clinging onto the side of the pool. "Well, now we know what happens to plantsuits in a pool," he said, taking the now overly-loose garment off and tossing it on the side.
