Medbay on Level One

Down below the Pod Caverns was the Medbay. Most of the crew had been down there before, for one reason or another. The parts of it they had access to were currently empty of life -- and, as a matter of fact, empty of undeath as well.

They might be able to find something down here that would help them. Hey, it couldn't hurt. This was the Medbay, wasn't it?

Peter looked her over and smiled warmly when he was done, reaching into his medkit and pulling out two pills.

"Very good news, Miss Hinasaki. You only have a severe case of bruising, physically. Take these with a glass of water, and you'll feel at least good enough to walk around in the morning." His smile continued. He was a warm and genuine human being.

"I would give you a lollipop for being a good patient, but my kit didn't come with them." His smile widened into a grin.

Chopper watched Peter deal with Miku, impressed by his check-up of her. He seemed like a really nice guy and he even offered a lollipop! Are doctors meant to offer lollipops? He'd never seen a doctor like that before. Even Dr Kureha, his teacher, only offered him knives.

Then he snapped back to what the mean looking human with the spikey hair was saying. He didn't want to answer the question but everyone was answering, so he felt obliged to. "I-I'm Tony Tony Chopper," Chopper started off timidly. He'd seen the looks Kadaj and Kazuya had thrown him. It was scary. "I'm a d-doctor." That last word came out unsure.

As usual, Chopper was discrediting his own ability. How could he say he was a doctor after being so easily impressed by Peter's professionalism?

Kazuya nodded in turn to each of the answers, though looking rather disgusted with the lack of able fighters showing up. Having left the area before Leon's marching orders, he didn't know what their plans were, and quite honestly, he really didn't care.

The red eye gleamed slightly at Middleman's mention of 'comic book evil,' as Kazuya filed this one away for future surveillance. Perhaps this one knew something about the Devil Gene, after all.

As for his response to their questions, "Kazuya Mishima. Chief Executive Officer of the G Corporation, and Commander of one of the world's strongest military presences." He then turns on Kadaj, put off by his blatant ignoring of his order and walked over to the silver-haired man, and aimed a backhand-fist at his chin, hoping to snap him out of his little stroll down memory lane.

Sima Yi figures that, if they're all introducing themselves, he might as well speak up. "I'm Sima Yi, styled Zhongda - First Secretary to the Imperial Han, under Prime Minister Cao." If he'd been close enough to Kazuya to intercept the attack on Kadaj, he would've - he'd had the feeling that it wouldn't take long for these people to start turning on eachother, once they were out of immediate danger, and with the kind of day he's had so far, he is in no mood for bullshit.

"Name's Sonic, Sonic the Hedgehog, and I'm the primo speedster and Freedom Fighter of Planet Mobius. The Priority One Hedgehog himself. I'm here to help out however I can." Whoo, he said a mouthful. All this talking was starting to bug him. Boredom was kicking in with all the action going on in the rest of the ship.

[identity profile] silversouba.livejournal.com 2009-11-06 05:09 pm (UTC)(link)
Instinctually Kadaj drew his souba up towards the man’s neck defensively. Some humans really had an intelligence problem, and some were just looking for a fight out of boredom. Loz usually took care of those (he enjoyed “playing” with them far more than himself or Yazoo).

The remnant pressed the blade just slightly at the nape of the man’s neck. Hard enough to be felt but soft enough not to pierce flesh. “I am Kadaj,” he made direct eye contact. “And I am capable of destroying you.~” There, question answered!

A bullet shot to Kadaj wouldn’t injure him all that much. Then he laughed. He laughed like the eternal youth that only teenagers could possessive. With an excellent display of skill he twirled his sword and held it once by more his side.

“Stay out of my way, Kazuya Mishima.” Despite the seriousness of the threat it was lathered in Kadaj’s own personal amusement. If he had to fight, so be it. . But this pathetic life form really wasn’t worth any of his time.

Without a care for whatever anyone else thought the remnant simply turned away and went back to his investigation of the odd bioweapons.

"What the @%#$ was that?" Kawalsky yelled, turning on Kazuya. "You said you're a commander in the military and you think that's acceptable? What @&%# is wrong with you?"

[identity profile] hero-medic.livejournal.com 2009-11-06 09:18 pm (UTC)(link)
Peter had had his back turned during the hitting, he turned around at the commotion. Quickly, he looked to Chopper.

"You said doctor? Mind keeping an eye on Miss Hinasaki? I'd hate to have given her a clean bill only to have her go into shock, and another pair of eyes is always good." He strolled over between Kawalsky and Kazuya, shooting both a quick glare as he moved to Kadaj.

"Hitting and screaming isn't going to help us any, guys. If you're so bored you have to hit things, go back out with the zombies." He looked directly at Kadaj. Maybe some bruising, no broken skin, not even worth the advil. "We have to work together until this is over. After that, go ahead and fight to your heart's content for all I care."

[identity profile] jin-xuandi.livejournal.com 2009-11-07 12:03 am (UTC)(link)
At least he doesn't have to break them up himself - in his present state of mind, he'd probably do more harm than good in the process. He may have nothing left to lose, but that doesn't justify dragging anyone else down with him. However, to the others' admonitions to Kazuya, he does add, coldly, "What, exactly, screams 'good idea' to you about tormenting an armed fanatical cultist, when he's displaying the rare good grace not to bother anyone? The last thing we need is to be fighting amongst ourselves, when we're trapped in here by the thousand shambling corpses outside."

[identity profile] demonicgene.livejournal.com 2009-11-07 03:40 am (UTC)(link)
Kazuya was rather amused by Kadaj's reaction. He didn't flinch from the blade either. Kawalsky, however, earned himself a condescending look, as did Sima Yi.

"Yes, I am a commander, and I do not tolerate people who simply ignore the world around them. If we're getting out of this alive, we're going to need to work like a well oiled machine."

And to Kadaj, he added, clenching a fist, lightning dancing around his fist. "Threaten me again, and I will show you why I'm one of the most feared men alive."

[identity profile] jin-xuandi.livejournal.com 2009-11-07 04:11 am (UTC)(link)
"'Alive'?" Sima Yi snorts. "We're already dead. Take a look around - what can this place be except the afterlife?" Either way, he's not in a mood to be impressed by Kazuya's posturing, or his cheap sorcery. "I agree that not getting torn apart would be preferable - but we're safe for the moment, and there's no need to resort to childish squabbling. For a purported commander, you, sir," he spits the word contemptuously as he steps between Kazuya and Kadaj, "don't seem to know a lot about leadership or cooperation." At the moment, though, he's hardly at his most cooperative himself - he doesn't care if he's staring down another Lu Bu; there's an edge of reckless desperation in his glare that makes it clear he's got nothing left to lose.

"Petrelli's right. This isn't the time or the place. If you're not going to get along then one of you go stand guard at the door. Now."

"That sounds like a right smart idea t'me," Tess says, looking over between the testosterone cluster and Kawalsky.

Her weird, huge pistol-thing has started to inch upwards from the at-rest position she was holding it in.

[identity profile] demonicgene.livejournal.com 2009-11-07 05:32 am (UTC)(link)
Kazuya put up his hands, looking more than a little frustrated. "Fine. If you people want to just sit here and wait for the hordes to bust through that door--" Kazuya motioned to where there were already a couple of dents in the door they'd come through to punctuate the point. "--then by all means, do so. Anyone interested in fighting and staying alive, come with me."

Kazuya turns on Chopper and Peter, leveling an appraising eye at the medics. "The two of you better start making your choice fast. Lives are on the line. The people who decide to stay here are as good as dead anyway."

[identity profile] hero-medic.livejournal.com 2009-11-07 06:52 am (UTC)(link)
Peter went to stop Kazuya, quickly discovering his speed had left him. This was not good. At all. He tried once more, after shaking his legs out. No good. Finally, he just sprinted in front of Kazuya.

"No one... Is dying... On my watch..." Peter said, breathing heavily. "Not even you. So guard the door. Silently. And deal with the fact that there are two of us at least who care about the others enough to not let that happen." He was ennervated by this guy. He reminded Peter too much of his future self.

The amazing paramedic asked him, Tony Tony Chopper to look after Hinasaki!? He was surprised but was already keeping an eye on her - his doctor insticts already prompting him to.

Those guys were really scary! It made Chopper wish that he was together with the Straw Hat Pirates again who could make things safer for him. Not to mention he missed them.

"I-I'm already d-done!!" He said tugging on his backpack to show that he was ready.

[identity profile] demonicgene.livejournal.com 2009-11-07 06:24 pm (UTC)(link)
If there was one thing Kazuya couldn't stand, it was someone getting in between him, and his goal. And, while Peter would be feeling a touch of unholy strength simply from being within proximity to Kazuya, it was Kazuya's skill with his own brand of martial arts that he was counting on.

"I said it once, and I'll say it again. I'm not standing here and letting hordes of the undead bust through the wall and rip us to shreds. I'm going out there, and finding some kind of other help. We've already established that there are others in here, but I'm not going to force anyone to come with me."

He stepped forward, glaring down at Peter, his red eye flaring dangerously. "So either step aside, or come with me. I do not tolerate anything standing in my way. And I have no qualms with doing away with morons who refuse to move."

He glanced over his shoulder, noticing Chopper's readiness to move. "Tony Chopper, was it? If you're coming, let's get moving. If need be, I can carry you. Hopefully we will find some others that have a better grasp on the concept of survival."

[identity profile] kawalskyeffect.livejournal.com 2009-11-07 07:32 pm (UTC)(link)
"We can hold this position. You go out there without back up and all you'll be is zombie lunch. We have medical supplies here and, more importantly, we have guns. We can fortify the wall and hold out until reinforcements come and they take out the source of the zombies."

[identity profile] jin-xuandi.livejournal.com 2009-11-07 08:20 pm (UTC)(link)
Sima Yi, meanwhile, has gone back to where he was sitting, across the room from Kazuya. "Let me get this straight - you're suggesting leaving what, presently, is a perfectly secure and tenable position, battling our way through hundreds of flesh-eating corpses to get to whatever the hell that 'Vatican' place the rescue team was talking about is, and which itself may not remain secure for much longer, when we have barely a handful of actual combatants and this is the probable fallback position from the Vatican?" He'd been paying attention when Leon was giving orders - and were he in any shape for a pitched battle right now, he might have gone back to the Vatican with Worf's team. Right now, though, he'd decided that discretion was the better part of valor; the longer he could hang onto what remained of his sanity, the better.

[identity profile] demonicgene.livejournal.com 2009-11-07 08:31 pm (UTC)(link)
Kazuya smirked over his shoulder at Sima Yi while waiting for Peter to move. "In a word? Yes. Those things are weak, and slow. If we take the offensive, our sheer momentum will be enough to stagger their already disorganized ranks, pushing them into each other. We just need to be fast, smart, and we can't just stand still."

[identity profile] kawalskyeffect.livejournal.com 2009-11-07 08:48 pm (UTC)(link)
"Weak and slow? Did you miss the huge ones out there? The one with claws. They're not all slow and weak. No one, and I mean no one, is going out there until we get the all clear or we have backup."

[identity profile] hero-medic.livejournal.com 2009-11-07 10:29 pm (UTC)(link)
Peter wasn't moving. This guy was less than frightening in comparison to Arthur, much less Sylar. And, dislike aside, he couldn't let this guy wander off into death.

"And what if they're not all the kind of zombies that have to bite? I've seen a horror movie or two. The don't all work like that. For all we know, you touching the wrong one could make you into one of them." He shook his head. "You're being an ass, but not enough to where I'm going to let you go off for the slaughter."

[identity profile] demonicgene.livejournal.com 2009-11-07 10:48 pm (UTC)(link)
How annoying. These people were content to just sit there and wait for their deaths. There was one last thing before he was going to simply move this man out of the way, and slaughter the rest of them if necessary. He was not going to simply sit around and wait for this to blow over.

"And what of the people in this Vatican? If their position is compromised, then they're dead. Plain and simple. Their numbers should be more than concentrated on going after the threat they know about. Leaving their rear wide open. And once their position is overrun, where do you think they'll head next? We'll have lost our only allies, as well as being surrounded."

He didn't want to give away too much of what he was capable of, just in case these people did make themselves into enemies, but Peter was giving him no choice. He lowered his voice to just barely above a whisper as he spoke to the self-styled 'mimic.'

"And you of all people, right now, should know very well that it would take more than a mere touch to make me into one of them."

[identity profile] jin-xuandi.livejournal.com 2009-11-08 01:41 am (UTC)(link)
"Despite their situation with the enemy - dire as it may be, if it's anything like what we've faced here - they were able to muster the resources to send out a successful rescue party for us. That suggests that they still have skilled warriors there, as well as commanders who can plan ahead. They aren't just a group of frightened civilians - which, by the way, is what the majority of our group here is comprised of." Including himself, loath as he'd be to admit it - he's been in a few battles before, but that's nowhere near enough for him to maintain his composure more than superficially in a situation like this. "Even supposing you knew where their positions were and there was anything you could do to help them, without a horse, you'd end up bogged down in the fighting, and probably surrounded and devoured before you'd even gotten halfway there."

[identity profile] cowsquirtdrinkr.livejournal.com 2009-11-08 07:30 am (UTC)(link)
"Look, out of everyone here, I'm the one who knows the most about zombies. And I don't care what the heck you are, but it's pretty obvious you're organic. And that mean if you go out there without any back-up, you are not coming back. Trust me." The Middleman said to Kazuya.

[identity profile] demonicgene.livejournal.com 2009-11-09 02:16 am (UTC)(link)
That earned a glare for Middleman. He had been told he wasn't going to be able to do things all his life. He had come to go out of his way to prove that he could do things when people said they were impossible. Besides, he'd had enough of simply standing around and waiting. He adjusted his gloves a bit before stepping around Peter.

"Fine, cowards. Just sit in here and wait for death to come to you. I shape my own future." And with that, Kazuya makes his way towards the exit, leaving medbay, and instantly throwing himself into the fray.

Chopper watched Kazuya walked away. He really wanted to pull that scary man back in... but he was too scary and Chopper didn't want to mess with him.

The reindeer thought that staying behind with everyone was a safer idea than leaving and finding zombies to kill. And if they were to come under attack, they'd need all the help they could get. For all his insecurities, Chopper knew deep down that he hold up his own in a fight.

"So.. what now?"

[identity profile] ghost-bait.livejournal.com 2009-11-09 08:29 am (UTC)(link)
Miku exhaled through her mouth, at once chiding and annoyed. She sat up and pushed herself off the table. It made her wince a bit, but she was starting to get used to the pain again. It was like she'd been asleep for a long, long time.

Which was closer to the reality than she'd wished to consider. She watched Kazuya leave and felt a sick twist in her stomach, not helped at all by the silver-haired Kadaj's terrible insanity (there was no sane person, none, that sounded the way he did). She smiled again at Tony and Tess.

It worked a little better this time. "If we're going to stay in here, and there may be people, ah, arriving, is there anything we, well, I," she looked down at her small, laced together hands, Miku's voice small and unintimidating, "might be able to do to help? I... I don't have any medical training, but... I can organize and prepare." Very, very, very well, they would learn.

If Peter allowed her to, anyway.

[identity profile] kawalskyeffect.livejournal.com 2009-11-10 11:05 pm (UTC)(link)
"Great. You can help them. I'll be guarding the door since our friend left." Kawalsky walked right up to the door, holding his gun at the ready. "Don't worry about him. Either he can take care of himself like he says he can or he's got a death wish. We couldn't stop him either way."
