Broken Arrow [Open]

After having his shoulder and Achilles tendon cared for in the medbay, Sam--under armed guard--had been brought back to the precinct and placed back into detention. Laying back on his cot, with his hand tucked under his head, he was lost in thought. Questions flooded his mind. Second guesses. Things he should have done differently at different moments. Wondering why he didn't see the decoy for what it was, a ploy to flush him and the rest of the conspirators out into the open. He'd missed it. He'd missed it all.

Now, not only was the Yeerk still alive--meaning that Sam and others had failed--but people had gotten hurt. He hadn't been able to see any faces, not until they'd taken him up to the medbay to treat him. But, when he got their he saw three people, two he recognized. Chaucer, the innocent author from way back in Earth's history. Stature, the girl who had stood between him and the person Schmuz was infesting when he reappeared. The last woman he didn't recognize. But, given the way Leon was hovering over her, she was clearly important to him.

At least three people were seriously wounded, not counting Jo who Sam had shot mid-range with a round of rock-salt, and not only did Sam have nothing--no dead Yeerk--to show for it, but they were all his fault.

"I did not say you should be free of guilt and shoulg push it aside. I said you should not allow it to consume you, for you are not the only one at fault in this incident. You should feel guilt, you would not be human if you did not."

A frown touched her lips though and she slightly shook her head. "You use strange sayings though. How does one feel allow themselves to feel... like shit?" She knew it was another ancient human saying, but it still didn't make any sense to her.

"From the planet Arrakis," She straightened herself up a little - and somehow managed to look somewhat more regal. "Though to answer your next question, I am human."

She looks at him questionably for a moment. "And I am Ghanima Atreides... But what explains a lot? You have heard of Arrakis then?" Which she didn't think was possible, considering he was more than likely from what would be ancient history to her.

He was obviously only telling a partial truth, and Ghani's expression turned stony. "Really? And pray tell, what stories might you have heard?"

"And why wouldn't I???" Ghani demands, perhaps sounding for the first time like a spoiled 18 year old.

Despite her apparent outter calmness, Ghani was indeed freaking out a little inside. She knew that there were different dimensions, though she'd never really stopped to think that in one of them that she'd be nothing more than a figment of someone's imagination.

It was not something she was use to dealing with, and no where in her other memories was help to be found either. This was going to have to be something she did on her own.

Finally Ghani took a step closer to Sam's cell. "And I'm in this novel?" she asks.

"Oh really?" Ghani muses, and wonders for half a second if she should be persuing this conversation any further. Her father and mother voices were warning her, but she completely ignored them and moved until she standing right at the bars of the cell.

"Did I have two heads in the novel??" She's obviously being sarcastic, but what did people expect to be coming from someone who just found out they're a character in a book in someone else's world?

"We've already begun to talk about it, I see no reason why we shouldn't finish the conversation," she paused and arched an eyebrow. "Or could it be this makes you too uncomfortable?"
