from toys to trains to videogames...[OPEN to the underagers and anyone who wants to help guard them]

All told the Sensorium wasn't a bad place to be holed up in by any means. It offered fantastical adventures to every corner of the imagination, certainly. Any kind of amusement a kid could want was here: colorful rainbow castles filled with gentle princesses and brave knights, giant platform videogames where you yourself could be the one jumping on monster's heads and dodging falling blocks, amusement parks and ice creams, paintball and petting zoos.

But that wasn't the point. The point was that the adults were doing something important and they were doing it without them. And here they'd been ordered to stay in the sensoriums. Things were happening!

Yuri and her fellow kids debated what they should use the chamber for loudly as they awaited the arrival of their guardian(s).

Loren took several steps to follow before stopping herself. Sherry's friends could probably comfort her more than Loren could. Instead she turned to glare at Red Snout.

"I get startled whenever I wake up and someone's hovering over me and that's not even when they're a dinosaur. What did you think was going to happen?"

Sherry's stamina had run out somewhere several rows and a dead end into the hedge maze. She had heard Yuri, but it hadn't registered exactly, the sudden RUN. RUN. RUN. DINOSAUR. RUN. mantra in her mind taking over what otherwise would've been a more conscious train of thought. Sherry leaned back against the hedges, and tried to catch her breath.

Well, it was okay. Either the hedge maze would go away, and she'd just fall over and keep catching her breath, or someone would find her. She just hoped it wasn't the raptor. If there was any mercy in the universe, it wouldn't be the dinosaur.

Red Snout sniffed haughtily.

"I expected humans to be made of sterner stuff. But then again, I'm not surprised to be proved wrong." He hissed at Loren, exuding arrogance.

"And I am not nice, if you have not noticed, Little Yuri. I do what I must to ensure my survival. Besides, I did nothing. She was merely startled by my appearance. And unless you have some fashion of changing me from a raptor into a human..." He trailed off, shuddering at the thought. That would be horrible.

"Watch it or you'll find out just how 'stern' we can be. There was nothing necessary for survival about terrifying a little girl. You could at least pretend to be sorry when someone points out you're acting like a moron."

[identity profile] raptorwithagun.livejournal.com 2009-09-16 04:44 am (UTC)(link)
"I am sure." The raptor replied dryly, then cocked his head to one side.

"I am not acting like a 'moron.'" He wasn't sure what a moron was, but he was sure it was an insult of some kind. "Nor am I sorry. Why should I pretend to be sorry to make you feel better?"

"Me? What about that girl!"

The plantsuit she was wearing responded to her unconscious request and released the baseball bat it was holding. Loren grabbed it, mostly to keep it from falling to the floor. Of course, now that she had it in her hands she could think of a few uses for it.

"She must learn to deal with things that are unpleasant in life. The real world does not coddle you when you go into it." He eyed the baseball bat. A weapon, obviously.

"I suggest you put your weapon away, human."

"Actually it's for a game. But don't think I'm not thinking about it." Because oh was she thinking about hitting him with it, even if she knew she shouldn't be.

"Strike me and there will be another hard thing for the children to see." He hissed, puffing up to make himself larger and more intimidating. It's a very real threat, though one which he is certain he won't have to carry through on. Raptor interaction like this is based entirely around intimidating the other party into backing down, after all.

Loren didn't even blink, if anything she stood taller.

"Someone's got a chip of his shoulder. As long as you stay away from those kids? You've got nothing to worry about from me. You're not worth the violation Stacy would give me."

Roxie offers a little nod, shuffling to a stop, and glances between Sherry and Yuri.

"... are you okay?" she asks Yuri quietly. She doesn't look very worried, but, then, it's rare for her to show much emotion at all...

[identity profile] in-venting.livejournal.com 2009-09-16 06:34 pm (UTC)(link)
Sherry looked torn from between being relieved, and being surprised. Well, the relief was easier to deal with and she slumped against the wall of hedges from her formerly stiffbacked position. "You're really sure?" She brushed away a few terrified tears from her eyes and checked over the other two girls. Sherry hadn't expected someone to come after her, and to think two people that weren't Claire and Leon had...

...Well, it'd take some getting used to.

[identity profile] toariversodeep.livejournal.com 2009-09-16 08:23 pm (UTC)(link)
"... I could beat him up if he did anything, anyway," Roxie adds, her arms crossing over her chest. Despite the quiet tone, she has a quite self-assured look.

[identity profile] in-venting.livejournal.com 2009-09-16 11:55 pm (UTC)(link)
"Sit down, Yuri." Sherry patted the grass beside her. "You, too, Roxie," she added after a moment. So... the tentahat thing wanted something from her timid (well, mostly timid, she'd heard her yelling at the raptor) friend. And it was a secret. No, that didn't sound suspicious whatsoever.

"I really believe you could, Roxie. I'm still not used to..." Everything "Some of the things on the ship. I mean, dinosaurs are pretty much extinct, and yet..." She shrugged and picked at the leaves of the hedge.

Roxie slides down effortlessly into a twisted lotus position. It looks... kind of generally uncomfortable, but her face is still as relaxed as ever.

"I'd rather be in my meditation room," she says, frowning juuust a tiny bit.

[identity profile] in-venting.livejournal.com 2009-09-17 04:37 am (UTC)(link)
"It doesn't matter where we hide, Yuri," Sherry frowned at the hedge wall in the general direction of Kon and the others. "But Mister "I Can Bend Time and Space" over there probably would've found us." Even if Vega had been distracted by the raptor, the shock was beginning to recede and leave only irritation in its wake.

"I'd rather be at home, waiting for my parents to get back. And now that we know there's a bunch of people down there, being incredibly stupid over what is basically a slug, I... I don't know. I'm just worried. Sorry." She apologized and worried her lower lip.

[identity profile] toariversodeep.livejournal.com 2009-09-19 02:22 am (UTC)(link)
The main difference, really, is that Roxie was offered the choice—she was picked as someone who would be amenable to it, sure, but she could have backed out if she still wanted to.

She just lets out a little noise like a sigh, letting herself fall backwards.
