Situation Briefing [Closed: Members of Security only]

Leon had never mentioned it to anyone on board, but on his world he used to be part of the personal security detail for the President of the United States and the First Family. During his career, he's had to guard federal witnesses, judges, senators, criminals, terrorists, classified data, and even weapons of mass destruction and move them from Point A to Point B. Moving a high value target was something he knew how to do.

Normally, though, he had armored vehicles, helicopters, and the full resources of the federal government to aid him. This time, though, he wasn't on his own, but he had a bunch of people he barely knew and wasn't sure he could trust, not to mention no armored vehicles or helicopters. But if it was anything he knew, it was how to get the best out of what he was working with... how to make the best out of a bad situation.

And this was certainly a bad situation.

The Yeerk trial had concluded, and the creature had been found guilty, but sentenced to imprisonment rather than death. However, the only available long-term prison for it was down in Medical, not in the precinct, where it had been for the duration of the trial.

Which wouldn't be much of a problem, except for the fact that Sam was out there, and they knew he would make an attempt to kill the Yeerk. What Leon didn't know was who else was with Sam. This was particularly troubling since Leon suspected that there were a few people on his own team who were working with Sam. The ease and precision in which Sam escaped told him that much.

In addition, he had the feeling that another group was gearing up for this confrontation. Except that he had no idea who they were or what they wanted or if they even existed. It may have just been the heightened tension in the air, but it felt like there were a lot of people gearing up for something big.

Unfortunately, he didn't have much time to sniff out possible traitors, or look into rogue elements. They could only keep the Yeerk in the Precinct for a few more days before it would starve to death. He was going to have to move it soon.

There were no good options, so Leon had to go with the best of the worst.

When he was ready, he finally called all of security into one of the briefing rooms. In front of where he stood, there was a holographic layout of part of the city, which highlighted the few direct routes between the Precinct and the Hub. Somewhere along those routes Sam would have to attack, since outside of the city, Stacy wouldn't let him.

Out of all of the routes, he chose the widest walkway there. Right now they had Sam outnumbered and outgunned, but none of that mattered if they didn't have room to utilize it.

A group of six, consisting of Leon, The Master Chief, Samus Aran, Worf, Marcus, and Ronon, were going to take the Yeerk. Carol Danvers would be flying overhead. The rest of the Security team would be along the route, keeping watch out for Sam, but their primary function would be crowd control. If Sam attacked, it would be up to them to protect the bystanders first and foremost, and keep others from getting involved. If people started jumping in, the situation could spiral downwards in a hurry. He did not want a riot on his hands The six with the Yeerk would be the primary ones to engage Sam and whoever he had with him.

When Leon addressed the group, he spoke as if he was laying all his cards out on the table, but he did not mention his suspicions about a traitor among them. They needed to trust each other, and they needed to believe that he trusted them. And he did trust them... he trusted them enough to mention the sub-armory, where some of the more high powered weapons, non-lethal riot ordinance (including rubber bullets, flashbangs, tear gas, and beanbag shotgun rounds) and basic body armor (re: Kevlar) was available to them.

But there were still a few cards he was going to play close to the vest.

"All right, people, that's the plan. Any questions?"

"I am ready, Mister Kennedy." Worf nodded at the leader of the security force. "I believe my phaser will be the most useful weapon for me to carry on this mission, however, as I have the most familiarity with it and it is capable of non-lethal force."

Samus was leaving no room for errors in this missions. Another mistake might cost more than just her credibility this time.

"No questions."

Jo shook her head and rested her hands on her hips. "Nope, no questions."

Robert knew he was on crowd control...but he did have one thing that was bugging him.

"Who's carrying the Yeerk? And if we have someone who can fly, why not just have them take it?"

She was sitting silently listening to the plan and hating that she was even there. She knew it was too good to be true. She was in a new place, with new people, and the same shit kept happening. She just hoped that this time, she'd picked the right side.

"No questions on my part, but I have to say this. If a fight breaks out. I'm out. I will not fight anyone who is a member of this ship. But I will get the prisoner out of there. They'll be gunning for the Yeerk, so if someone comes for it, it's best to get him out fast. I can handle most heavy fire, so I can cover that. I'm also pretty fast in the air." She looks around at the people and frowned. She wasn't going to be able to sleep until this was all over.

"I hate to say it, but it's probably going to come to a fight. The entire ship is tense over this."

"Well we're here to make sure the Yeerk is medically OK during transfer," Jean says and looks over at McNinja. "But if something were to arise, I'm sure the two of us could help out if you needed us to."

She takes a deep breath and leans toward McNinja, "I hope you don't mind me volunteering your services."

[identity profile] wantstobebatman.livejournal.com 2009-09-08 01:49 am (UTC)(link)
McNinja nods, expression stonily serious for once.

"I'd like to think we won't need to have a fight but since that's unlikely you can count on me."

He had kind of tried to keep neutral about the whole Yeerk issue given his absence for so many important parts of the process - but a decision made was a decision made in the fairest way possible and he was more more comfortable defending a life than taking one.

"No questions."

The Chief remembers the determination he saw in Sam when he delivered his ultimatum. It's chilling to think back on. It's an eerie feeling to know how likely it is he's about to go up against the people he's come to consider his unit in a vague sort of way.

Most of what he wants is to hold the crew together, the Yeerk's fate is not his primary concern. This is just beyond what he's used to dealing with.

But he can guard, he knows how to do that, and he will.

Chris didn't say much as he arrived and Leon gave the orders and plan. He was a soldier first and foremost, and he would carry them to the letter. Somewhat different than what he was used to, he wouldn't change the course no matter what.

"No questions, sir." He resisted the urge to salute because he knew this wasn't the time.

Kirk nods firmly from his position at the back of the room - this is Leon's show, as far as he's concerned. He knows enough to let the head of security do his job. If he has to step in, he will. But for now, he's just along to help out when he can and to offer his moral support. He steps up alongside Leon, speaking to him in a low tone, "Excellent speech, Mister Kennedy. I couldn't agree more. Best of luck to you - to all of us."

[identity profile] marvelouscarol.livejournal.com 2009-09-08 10:26 am (UTC)(link)
Carol didn't move for a bit. Just staring at Leon. She let her face break into a smile, even if a part of her mind wanted to cry. She hated her emotions sometimes. Leon was acting, almost like Cap. He was just so sure that he was right about this, and well who was she kidding. He was.

She stood up and left without a word. She needed to go and be alone for a while.

The Chief nods once, solemnly. He gets this. It's more about the ship politics than the Yeerk. It's always been more about the ship politics than the Yeerk, and anyone that can only see it that way is blind as far as he's concerned. The Chief hates it. It's not what he's for. He's not one to give speeches, he's the one standing to the side listening and waiting for it to be over with.

He knows his job. Protect the others and get this whole snarling mess behind them. That's what matters.
