(no subject)

Pat had found himself exploring the city, and discovered two things thus far: one, that seeing an entire city looking so empty unnerved him in a vague sort of way, and two, the sight of all those buildings made Toxin restless.

C'mon, pops. I've been good. No biting, no mauling, no even threatening to when people're acting stupid. And I was behaving myself even before we got here, remember?

Pat frowned and didn't answer, deciding to peer up at something that he supposed was the equivalent of a skyscraper. A few tendrils snuck out of his shirt collar and poked at him. Please? Anybody gets the wrong idea and I'll let you take care of it. No fights. Come on, I'm bored in here.

Pat sighed, glancing down at one of the tendrils and raising an eyebrow. "No deciding to change your mind about fighting at the last minute."

Would I do that? The tendrils just got a look in return. Trust me, I won't. So can I come out now?

"Only for a few hours," Pat warned as he nodded and more tendrils burst out and the rest of his clothing went decidedly goopier. Toxin grinned toothily as he was given control, and stretched for a moment before scrambling up the side of a building. He glanced around for a moment before web-slinging off, setting out in hopes of finding something more interesting than abandoned buildings.

Red wasn't watching where he was walking anymore. He was too busy staring at Toxin. "You must be from Wild Space. It's the region outside our galaxy, largely uncharted. It's possible Humans exist there, along with countless other undocumented aliens. It could explain the variety of Humans and we non-humans if the ship was passing through it. Not to mention the technological discrepencies." He trailed off, head swiveling to look at the strange city around them. "If we all woke from stasis, however, there's no telling how far from our own worlds and galaxies we are..."

"It could at least give us a good idea of how many worlds were visited. If a large number of names coincide, we can guess the ship spent a longer time there. And someone might know something. How fast the ship is going...or perhaps they remember what the outside of the ship looks like."

He looked genuinely interested - at least, for a talking space dinosaur - at Toxin's words. "Is New York a settlement, then?"

A city the size of a state? Apparently Toxin's world wasn't so far from his own home on Coroscant, in that case. "So you were from a city as well, then? Are there any spaceports in New York that could accomodate a ship of this size?" He waved a hand at the street.

Red stopped dead in his tracks and returned the stare. Difficult to tell on the Tiss'shar's face as it was, he was obviously flabberghasted. "You're joking. No spaceports. An alien presence, but no trade between planets?" He wasn't even going to ask if they travelled everywhere at sub-light speed. He had a feeling he already knew the answer.

Red gave Toxin a measuring stare. With a grunt, he turned and resumed walking. "At risk of sounding like a glitched holo, something very strange is going on here."
