“By the Seven Circles!” Daimon cried.

He had been told that there were many places of worship in the city section of this strange ship but he could not believe how many there were. So many sacred buildings trapped within a foreboding craft. It was also horrifying to think of why they would be there. It was as though the people who built this Stacy creature were collecting landmarks. Daimon hoped it was a duplicate and they had not uplifted these holy places from their rightful home.

But even if they were fake, merely a copy, he could not help but be awed at the sight of the most holy buildings.

Without hesitation he walked to the Vatican only to discover it had been changed into an abomination.

"BLASPHEMY!"

"Useful!" The tip of Daimon's trident sparked with soulfire. "This is a house of God!"

He scowled at Daimon, staring at him like he were a complete and total idiot for a few moments. With a dismissive shake of his head, Sawyer stepped back, lowering his gun.

"Somehow, I think he'll get over it. And if he don't, then he's a douchebag anyway."

Daimon nearly struck Sawyer with his trident. His arm raised it before he could stop himself but he lowered it just as soon.

Kill him. Kill this fool. Send his soul to your father's home and laugh at his pain.

The moment the trident was raised, Sawyer was aiming his gun at Daimon again. But he, however, didn't lower it again.

"It's a fuckin' building, you moron. And it just so happens to be the most defendable building in this damn place. I think the Almighty will understand if we hafta make a few changes to it to keep our asses alive."

Daimon tried to erect a barrier of soulfire, in case this human decided to shoot him but he couldn't. The failure only fueled his anger.

"How can you be so blind!" Daimon raised his trident once again. He had no desire to be shot to death, especially at this hands of this sacrilegious fool.

"I ain't the one that's blind, jackass," Sawyer retorted. "I'm the only one on this boat who's thinkin' straight and doin' what needs to be done to keep our asses alive. Ya got a problem with that, then ya don't hafta use it."

Daimon's fingers tightened around his trident.

"Leave now."

He clearly wasn't budging.

"If you insist." Casting aside his trident, Daimon grabbed Sawyer by the arms, about to hurl him out of the Basilica.

Sawyer still had his gun, Daimon just didn't care.

Sawyer pointed the barrel directly at Daimon's chest and fired...



...and nothing happened. He pulled the trigger again. Again, nothing.

Oh, shit!

"What the fuck!!" he hollered at the malfunctioning weapon.

Daimon laughed.

And then he threw Sawyer out of the church.

He flew threw the air, landing on the stone steps with and rolling down half-way, scraping and bruising his body in the process, before he managed to stop himself. Small drops of blood dribbled down from his nose and the cut on his lip.

"All right, cock-monkey," Sawyer cursed, forcing himself to get up and start back up the stairs toward the basilica. "Now I'm pissed."

Daimon smiled and he walked to meet Sawyer.

"I will enjoy this."

"Not as much as I will," he answered, balling up his fist as they drew closer. Once he was with in reach, Sawyer swung.

Daimon was ready for him. He grabbed Sawyer's fist before it could land. He pulled Sawyer closer and with his free hand reached for his neck.

Rip his head from his body. Bathe in his blood.

Before Sawyer knew what was happening, the guy had blocked Sawyer's fist and hand a firm grip on his neck. The motherfucker was choking him! Using his free hand, Sawyer grabbed onto Daimon's arm and attempted to pry the freak off of him, to no avail. "Le...me...go...you...mo...er...fuc...er," he spat, trying to breathe.

Daimon released Sawyer's fist and struck him in the face, his other hand still firmly around his throat. "Bid hello to my father for me."

No. NO!

The grin fell from Daimon's face. His fingers loosened but not enough to allow air to pass into Sawyer's lungs.

THIS IS A HOUSE OF GOD. THOU SHALT NOT KILL.

From seemingly out of nowhere, there was an arm restraining Daimon, and a cold, sharp piece of metal against his neck.

"Let. Him. Go. Now."

Someone out there just might be looking out for you, Sawyer.

Daimon released Sawyer, still struggling to keep his darker half in check.

Sawyer stumbled back the instant he was released, his chest and stomach heaving as he gasped for air. His face felt warm as blood that had had it's flow constricted rushed to his brain.

"What...the hell...are ya...waiting for. Shoot the fucker!" he said, demanding Leon kill the bastard.

"Be quiet," he told Sawyer.

He started to slowly pull Daimon backwards.

"Back up, slowly. Hands where I can see them."

Daimon closed his eyes and silently prayed for forgiveness.

He did as Leon commanded.

"I am sorry for my actions." He said calmly.

"Of course you're sorry, now, dumbshit," Sawyer interjected, not believing a word coming out of the cretin's mouth. "He's got a knife at yer throat."

"There are reasons for my behavior that you do not yet know, although they do not excuse me. I am sorry that I caused you harm but I am not sorry for the result. You, like me, should never have been allowed to set foot here." The Son of Satan had no place in this sacred site.

There was a 'clack-clack' of metal as Leon cuffed Daimon, and for the moment, secured him to part of the alter for the time being.

He then went over to check on Sawyer.

"Mind telling me what the hell happened?"

"Fuck if I know," Sawyer replied, jerking away from Leon. "I was just inside workin' and His Holiness came in and went all jihad on my ass."

"Hold still." Though the fact that Sawyer was moving around at all and mouthing off as much as he was meant that his injuries weren't severe. "I take it he had a problem with the way you redecorated the place?"

Leon was catholic, and had been to the Vatican before, though that was on business. Sawyer hadn't exactly desecrated the place, but he had done a number on it.

"Doesn't every half-witted moron on this boat?" Sawyer replied. He'd been hearing the holier-than-thou bullshit ever since he started making the changes to basilica and he was well beyond being tired of it.

"Only the ones who have respect for something holy." His tone was even, devoid of any real judgment. Hell, Leon himself had torn up a church in his rampage through Spain, so he wasn't one to judge. Not to mention the basilica would make a solid place to make a stand if you had to.

"Most of your wounds seem superficial at best, but you should still head down to medical and get checked out."

And as for Daimon, he was going to head to a new place to stay for a while. The brig.
