GLaD to be un-GLaDOS'd.
GLaDOS and Patsy Walker and become very good friends of late. Or, at least, that's what it felt like to the young, flame-haired superheroine. Until recently, things had been going so well for her, what with connecting with Daimon Hellstrom - the man who was supposed to be her husband one day, or so he'd said (and she'd readily believed) - and all that.
Then GLaDOS had sucked her in, and Patsy had been in there for god only knew how long. She was out again, though, and as soon as being released, she'd scoured the ship for Daimon...and couldn't find him.
Which meant one of two things. Either he'd been repodded for good, or he was also stuck in GLaDOS.
And boy, do I ever hope it's the latter. At least then I'll see him again, she thought to herself as she walked out onto the Observation Deck. It was a nice place to think, the deck, and she needed that. When she'd first arrived on the ship, Patsy had been glad that she'd finally be getting her chance to be a real hero, but ever since having popped, she'd mostly only gotten GLaDOS'd.
A lot.
Things really need to change.

She was so lost in thought, in fact, that she bumped straight into the person in front of her. She jumped back, glancing over the other person. Was she hurt? She didn't seem to be.
"Please, I beg your pardon. I am very sorry! I will be more attentive in the future."

Issues back home with Hedy Wolfe not withstanding, of course.
"No, it's quite alright," Patsy replied, struck by the green of the girl's eyes. They were quite unlike anything she had ever seen before. "There's no need for an apology. Especially between redheads," she smiled.

"All is well between us. Though I do not believe we have met before! Are you new?"

"My name is Starfire! I am a member of the Welcoming Committee. Do you require a tour?"

She fell quiet. It wasn't something she could discuss so openly, especially with someone she did not know well. Perhaps somewhere else. "Would you like to visit our animals? Our libraries? A training room?"

"The talking ponies are our friends and crewmates. I know of one, Pinkie Pie."
no subject
"So, the ponies - like Pinkie Pie - they aren't one of the Hydroponics' own?" That was interesting. Then again, Patsy'd heard of Howard the Duck back home, so it's not like she was terribly surprised.

Soon enough, they arrived in the bright green space. A small portion of the land seemed to be sectioned off for a farm of some sort, with a simple wooden fence. Other areas featured creatures of all types roaming free under the artificial sun.
Starfire immediately gravitated toward her favorites, the little pink grub moles wriggling on the ground. They reminded her of her dear pet Silkie, but they weren't nearly as greedy!
"These are the grub moles," Starfire introduced them, gently rolling one with her hand. "They are docile and easily amused by rolling."

Besides. Her codename was Hellcat. She didn't much think that flying would really go with the name.
Walking into the area, Patsy had realized that she'd been there once before. She simply hadn't realized that there were live creatures there, besides the plants.
Her eyes widened beneath her mask. Clearly, there was a lot about the ship that she had to learn.
"Grub moles," she said, not yet reaching out to touch one. Yes, Starfire had one in her hand, and Patsy was sure that they were safe, but it seemed as though Starfire was familiar with them. Not having that same luxury, Patsy didn't want to hurt one of the cute little guys. "I would never have expected something like this on here," she said, honestly. "They're adorable, though!"

Starfire looked up, spotting a stilt glider gliding over their heads. It was a green creature, almost deer-like in its shape and movements, but the wings kept it aloft. She smiled and waved at it.
"There is also a tree that produces alcoholic beverages. Many of our crew are very fond of it."
no subject
She blinked at that last part. "You mean. Not like...not like a winery that produces wine but an actual tree?" Where the heck had that been when she'd first podpopped in this place?!
no subject
"Yes! It is called the beer tree. It is just over there," Starfire said cheerfully, pointing at it. All the bottles a person could want were hanging from it.

She turned away from it.
"I'm going to assume that there's nothing feral lurking in here?"
no subject
Starfire shook her head, smiling at another shadow passing overhead. "Most of the animals have been fitted with chips that prevent their violent urges from surfacing. Several have not, so you should always be careful."

That's when things between her and Daimon had really heated up.
A wistful look passed over her expression. Daimon. Where are you?
"Careful is good," Patsy said, pushing thoughts from Daimon away from her mind for the moment. "So...tell me about you," Patsy said, in an effort to make a friend on the ship. "I'm a superhero where I'm from," she then added. "Well. I was training to be one, anyway."
no subject
"I am a superhero as well! I was a member of the Teen Titans, a group of teenaged superheroes like myself. I was a refugee from another planet, but Earth's young heroes were kind enough to welcome me. Only Beast Boy is here of my teammates, though."
She flipped her hair over her shoulder, thinking fondly of him. "Where were you training? Is there an academy?"
no subject
"I was training with a friend," Patsy said. "Moondragon. She was teaching me how to best harness my powers, and helping me make my tele-talents stronger," she said. "And then, the next thing I knew, I was here."

But Raven was her closest friend then. She smiled wistfully. "We have nine stomachs and meter-long tongues," she reported dutifully. "We are also capable of firing powerful blasts from our hands and eyes, we can survive without oxygen in deep space, and we learn languages through lip contact."
That last one was always good for a laugh. She giggled. "But it is not always so simple. It has taken time to understand human customs."
no subject
And then her eyes widened again. "You have...you have nine stomachs?" Patsy couldn't imagine what that would be like. "Do you get, like, exceedingly hungry?"
The lip contact thing would hit the former teen model later.
no subject
She smiled and shook her head. "We are working on growing more food here. If we work hard, we will not have to eat the slop as often."
no subject
"Well, from what it looks like," Patsy tugged on her plantsuit, "gardening is somewhat sustainable here."
And then she blinked.
"Wait, rewind. You learn languages by lip contact? Foreigners must find you very welcoming!"
no subject
She smiled shyly in response to the other comment. "Many do, but boy-friends do not appreciate it."
no subject
"No, I can't imagine that my...Daimon..." she still didn't know what to call him, "would appreciate that much, if that were part of my power set. I don't imagine you've used that power much since having arrived on Earth, though?"
no subject
She taps her chin. "But I have considered learning the many crew languages if they are willing, in the event that our automatic translation system ever fails."
