All for You, Everything I Do [Closed]
Punchy sends a quick message off onto the comms, requesting that Maxine meet him soon underneath the Whomping Willow. He sends a mention that she can bring the monkey, too, and then sits back down under the tree in wait, wearing his nicest clothes (and by that, he means run through a washing machine recently).
There's a nice picnic basket set on a blanket in front of a tree for her, and a few glow sticks Punchy's stuck into a candleholder to light the night. More impressive than that, though, is that he got white Christmas lights all up in the Whomping Willow's branches, spread out in a giant heart.
Oh yeah. He's got showmanship. Some people would fight a dragon for their girl, but Punchy? Punchy fights a tree.

She's flying low to the ground, with Frankie sitting on her shoulders, holding onto her hair, when she approaches the tree in question, before she gasps-- a happy little noise at the sight. Because Punchy's done it again: he's managed to be sweet and kind and blow her out of the water.
She stares up at the 'Willow and the display in it with amazement, one hand over her mouth, before she rushes over to him, smiling wide.
For a moment-- miraculously-- she doesn't say anything.

He waves a little to Frankie, too. Who is clearly closer to his level of intellect than Maxine is.
"You like?"
no subject
"I guess not," she agrees with a quiet laugh, and she leans into him briefly, looking over the scene.
"I do like it, Punchy. It's really beautiful, actually. I can't believe you went out of your way to do all this for me it's-- just wow. Thank you." And she leans over to kiss his cheek, though Frankie makes an undignified noise at being jostled.

Maxine's face fell for a second. And then she smiled again like it never happened and she said happily, "So what did you bring? I know there's not a lot of option on the ship, but I'm really curious, so I figured I should ask-- or I guess I could just wait until we're ready to eat or something."

a pair of Hostess cupcakes-
"strawberries-"
or strawberry gummies-
"and booze." He pulls out la piece de resistance, a nice bottle of champagne, and sets it down next to her. He can tell something's off, but not sure what. "You all frosty, boo?"

When her expression falls a second time, she looks up at him and tries to smile. "Just a lot of stuff has happened, I guess. It's okay, though."

"A'ight. You just know you can talk to me, right?" He's seen shit. "I mean, if you need someone. I'll even shut up if you need me to."
no subject
"I-- I know. I just..." She's scared that if she talks about it, she'll just break down or something. If she ignores it, maybe she can forget about it. "It was scary, you know?" she whispers. "But it's okay. We shouldn't wreck our date, right? I mean, I could tell you about something a lot nicer!"

"Thanks, Punchy," she says, and leans up to kiss his cheek. "I--I just... I think it'll be okay! I just saw a lot but... it's okay now."

Besides, kissing is totally the best way to cheer someone up.

"Thanks, Punchy," she mumbles with a sniffle.
