This will end well [During Shore Leave, open to anyone who wants to have a wild and crazy time]
Harry was gone. He’d been repodded not long after their last conversation. That hadn’t gone well. After hearing the truth behind his brother’s death, Sirius had put as much space between him and everyone else as possible. If he’d known that would be the last time he would see Harry…
Harry was still alive but his absence stung. Sirius had no reason to pretend he was all right anymore. He’d put on a brave face for his godson, told himself he had to be strong for him. Now that he was gone what did it matter?
Aftersulking isolating himself for days there was only one logical way to deal with his grief. Drink as much as humanly possible and then drink some more. And if he could find other drugs on this planet that was all the better.
It didn’t take him long to find a bar. Most of the drinks were designed for humans (although there were a fair number for the Kanil and Helians, as well as other races that frequently visited) but Sirius recognized none of them. And as far as he could tell, they all tasted awful. It seemed some tastes didn’t translate across worlds. He didn’t care.

The human-looking man nearby didn't look like his drink was that bad though, so Ian asked, "What's that you're drinking?"

"Are you from Stacy?"

His drink arrived and he had a taste. It wasn't great. "Maybe we should stick to drinking on Stacy if all the drinks are going to be like this."

"Ahh- that's much better." He left his money on the counter. "Lead the way."

Well, there were quite a few options available to Sirius. He could use magic but he was drunk and wasn't sure how that would go with the people here. But there was one way to get attention and avoid anyone recognizing him.
"Time to go make an ass of myself." He had experience with that.
Sirius wandered off into a quiet corner of the market where he doubted he would be spotted.
A minute or so passed while he waited for the right moment, then a huge black dog trotted out into the market. Tail wagging and tongue lolling, he walked up to one of the merchants. After a short time lapping up affection he proceeded to jump onto the stand, sending the wares flying. He made a flying leap to another stand. He narrowly missed it and his legs slammed against it but he kept going. And he was rapidly drawing attention.
Drunk dog vs. Marketplace and guards- outcome pending.
Your move, Ian.

While the stall holder was occupied, Ian picked up one of the beetles. It tried to scan his hand and Ian smiled at it. It was clearly programmed to do one function. He took hold of it on either side and turned it upside down to look at it more closely. At which point it played dead. Ian poked at it, not really understanding anything he was seeing and ended up putting it on his palm, right side up. But then it carried on playing dead.
Ian prodded it worried for a moment, before deciding there was nothing he could do. He pocketed the beetle and ambled away nonchalantly. Hopefully the stall holder would just assume the dog had knocked it off and it had got lost.

He barked once and darted away. In the confusion he was lost easily and people were more preoccupied either carrying about their business or picking up their wares.
When Sirius returned he was back in human form. He stepped to the side and discreetly cast a few spells to speed up the merchants' setting up shop again. Maybe he'd give buy something and give them a tip to make up for it.

"Did you see whose dog that was? It made the perfect distraction."
no subject
"What did you make of that beetle?"
no subject
"I couldn't make out much of the beetle." They were far enough away now that Ian risked taking it out of his pocket. "But it seems to have died, so I'll look at it when I'm back on Stacy."

"Let me know if you find out anything exciting." He stretched his arms. "Any other stunts you want me to pull?"
no subject
"I think that's probably enough damage for one day. And I think people might notice the stray if he came back to do more damage, assuming you could find him again."
no subject
"Oh, I have more up my sleeve than a scruffy but lovable stray." He said lightly. "But if you insist."

Probably not what he was going for but you never knew.

Sadly for Sirius, the person who slides into the seat next to him is a lady.
"Have I seen you on the ship? If I did, I don't think your face was this long before."
no subject
"I think I've seen you before, beautiful." Though evidently not when he first podpopped. He'd been a complete wreck. "And I'm fixing my long face as we speak." He took more of a gulp than a sip of his drink.
