Despite the uproar that had taken place only a day earlier, it was all quiet at the Susono Inn. Well... mostly quiet, anyway. It was home to some of the most stubborn crew members on the ship, almost all of whom had gotten involved in the brawl with the Kessek.

Allenby's arm had been broken. Simon had taken a hard one directly to the ribs. Zouichi would probably take a week to get back to real fighting form.

And Howard... well, it would probably take Howard a while to recover from what had happened.

Zouichi paused. "I think maybe the best thing would be to just treat him like usual. I don't think he'd appreciate it if he figured out people were tiptoeing around him. But maybe forgo any friendly punching?"

"Anyway, you're right. I think the only people we really have to rely on right now is ourselves. But that's not so bad."

Allenby nodded. That seemed like pretty reasonable advice. "Heh, I'll just make up for it with you." She gave him a very light tap with her left hand.

She stared at the ceiling for a moment. Truthfully, her confidence had been kind of rattled by what had happened on the Obs Deck. She had been taken down instantly. At least the others had been able to get some kind of strike in, even if it was just one. "If it wouldn't raise about a thousand red flags in Stacy, I'd use the Sensoriums for Kessek practice," she sighed. "But we are pretty awesome when we're all together. The goons are tough, but it was the tentacles that really stopped us."

[zouichi]

"Deal." He returned the tap... with his good arm.

Zouichi shrugged a little. "Well, I'd say attacking the Kessek would raise even more red flags than fighting them in the Sensoriums. But you are right about us. We do work pretty well together. And next time we'll have a plan."

It was really too bad that Yavek had gotten shoved out of the way, though. Really too bad.

"Yup! We'll work something out beforehand next time--get them first before they can go after one of our friends again." See, that had been the big problem right there. The Daligig had caught everyone off-guard with the Punishment. It had been a chaotic scramble, everyone just acting at once.

Kind of like what Domon would have done. Rushing in yelling and unleashing his power hadn't always worked for him, either. That was why the Shuffle Alliance needed people like George, Argo, and Sai Saici.

Zouichi nodded. "Anyway, what say we go find some lunch? Can't really plan on an empty stomach, right?"

Well, at least Allenby didn't seem the sort to.
