Man, you look just like I feel [Open]

Despite the uproar that had taken place only a day earlier, it was all quiet at the Susono Inn. Well... mostly quiet, anyway. It was home to some of the most stubborn crew members on the ship, almost all of whom had gotten involved in the brawl with the Kessek.

Allenby's arm had been broken. Simon had taken a hard one directly to the ribs. Zouichi would probably take a week to get back to real fighting form.

And Howard... well, it would probably take Howard a while to recover from what had happened.

"We didn't need nothin' like that!" Allenby exclaimed, shocked by the coldness of the thinking. Howard and his buddy had been locked up and then hung up on the Obs deck for an hour while Yavek strutted around and the Kessek pounded everyone who tried to stop them. Treating her friend like that wasn't worth any sort of message. "And plenty of us were already pissed enough from that recording. All this proved was that the Daligig haven't changed one bit since then."

And despite how easily she'd been taken out, Allenby hadn't quite lost her sense of cocky rebelliousness. Hit Girl probably did have a point about getting themselves put under closer scrutiny, but Allenby didn't regret her actions. Yavek was an idiot. It was nice to see that Hit Girl didn't exactly seem eager to buckle under his rule. "Well, we'll just have to figure out a way to change out our authority figures," she said. "Zouichi got Yavek pretty good before Stacy stopped him, and there's enough smart guys around here to figure out a plan to give them the boot. Plus, there's a lot more of us." A similar smile appeared on her own face. "I never saw the point in worryin' about the opinions of authority either."

"You don't think so?" Hit Girl wasn't convinced. "Well, you didn't, but what about the people on the ship? You know how they are: one minute concerned about what's happening with the Daligig, the next worrying about a fashion show or having a party or some other dumb fucking thing. What they needed to see was how the Daligig work when they don't get obeyed how they want. And right now Howard and Orc are what Yavek said is fresh in their minds. Just like it should be."

Hit Girl nodded. "That's the thing though: now Yavek knows we can be a problem, and if the punishment happened, it was to show us what happens if we toe the line. You have to look at it from their perspective: now they have to find another way to show they're in control. I'm not saying we should stop planning fighting them, but there's still stuff we have to do."

"No way. Ildraniath was already talkin' about getting control and even held a meeting down on Agrestic, with plenty of people there. And besides." Allenby balled her free hand into a fist, resting it on her hip. "What if it'd been one of your pals who was strung up there for an hour, waitin' to get taken apart bit-by-bit? It might be handy publicity to you, but it wasn't for me or Zouichi or Simon."

Unfortunately, though, what she said about Yavek was probably true. He'd lost control in a big way back there--what he'd meant to be a horror show to scare everyone back into their place would have been a complete riot if it hadn't been for Stacy's intervention. And the fact that Zouichi had nearly killed him probably'd make him that much more desperate. "Well, we got a nice list of blind spots, and Engineerin' is busy figuring things out. Dunno what all the other department are doing, though."

"I knew about that." Hit Girl smiled. "Trust me, I'm not ignoring what people on the ship are doing. Hell, I admire the fuck out of you guys, doing exactly what heroes should do, standing up to those Daligig assholes. If it had been one of my friends? They'd take it..or I'd find a way to blow shit up as a distraction and free them. Anything but showing your hand too quick. I did that before...it doesn't always end well."

She looked a little solemn here, then shook her head. "Get an idea. I think you might want to make sure that you have an idea of what they can do. The blind spots, the talking...all pieces of a bigger puzzle."

Allenby raised her eyebrows. "I dunno how you could take being pulled apart one bit at a time. I don't think any human being can, at least. Bombs ain't a bad idea, though." She shrugged with her good shoulder, still not seeing eye-to-eye with Hit Girl. "If I had a chance to do it over, I'd just make sure I jumped before the Kessek moved."

A big puzzle, huh? Well, maybe. If this situation was a puzzle of any kind, it'd be a Rubiks Cube. A Rubiks Cube that tried to kill you. "That's the plan. I do know that psychic kid Raz wants to help. 'Course, half the department heads getting shoved back in the pods doesn't help, but that's just a temporary obstacle."

Of course, she was thinking of the Overlord and Lash...and considering how strange the two of them were, it wasn't that big of leap. As for her? She would have bit her tongue off before letting anyone get the satisfaction of knowing how much pain they were putting her though.

"Don't underestimate how spiteful I can be," she sad, "but you know, you have a point: who knows what would happen if that had that to us anyway. And I don't doubt that: you're one of the most bad ass girls on the ship, and its always cool to be in that kind of company."

She nodded. "Yeah, I heard about that, with the pods thing. So I wanna see if I can do my part, behind the scenes. People already think I support the bastard Daligig staying here, so i wanna keep it that way."

Hit Girl blinked. "Wait, who's Raz?"
