Despite the uproar that had taken place only a day earlier, it was all quiet at the Susono Inn. Well... mostly quiet, anyway. It was home to some of the most stubborn crew members on the ship, almost all of whom had gotten involved in the brawl with the Kessek.

Allenby's arm had been broken. Simon had taken a hard one directly to the ribs. Zouichi would probably take a week to get back to real fighting form.

And Howard... well, it would probably take Howard a while to recover from what had happened.

"Easy: make a fist, hit the mouse," Allenby said with a grin. She really did hate the idea of vermin invading her space. "But I guess I could kick the little pests if I didn't feel like crouching down."

She looked a little embarrassed at the suggestion. "I'd have to learn how to do that first. Anyway, don't they got two handlebars on them?" Bikes probably weren't hugely used except by hobbyists and kids in the Future Century, and Allenby's childhood had been distinctly lacking in the things that kids were supposed to traditionally learn how to do.

"You know, there's this amazing invention called the mousetrap. You might want to invest in one."

He raises an eyebrow. "You don't know how to ride a bike? How are you however-the-hell-old and not know how to ride a bike?" He scratches his cat behind the ears. "Do you need someone to teach you?"

"Maybe. I'll wait 'till we actually start seein' mice around." In which case... Allenby would just kick them anyhow. She was pretty sure she'd catch herself with a mouse trap if she set one in all that clutter.

She looked pretty embarrassed and then indignant. "Hey! Not everyone gets all the cool stuff when they're kids." 'Cause they get raised by military jerks instead of parents. "...Do you know how?"

"A bike's not really cool stuff. It's not like a Nintendo or a something." Hello, 21st century teenager. He tilts his head at her. "Of course I know how to ride a bike. I could teach you, but I'd have to charge."

"Well, whatever. It's a kid thing. I didn't do a lot of that when I was growin' up," Allenby said, sounding grumpier now. "If I wanna learn I can find my own bike. I'm sure there's one hanging around Stacy somewhere."

"Kid things in general or riding bikes?" It's at this point that Howard realizes he really doesn't know much about Allenby besides her brigging and the fact that she lives in the same house as him. "And I have bikes, tons of bikes."

Allenby sighed. "Kid stuff in general." Eh... might as well just say it instead of just being cryptic and grumpy. "My parents died when I was a kid, so I got raised by the military to be a Gundam Fighter. And I ain't suprised. Is there anything you don't have in your secret stashes?"

"That sucks." And Howard sounds genuine when he says it. He knows. "Mine, you know, did whatever, disappeared...but at least I got a childhood for the first thirteen years."

The way Allenby talks about hers makes it sound like she was much younger.

"If there is, I'll find it and store it soon enough."
