Working Through The Night [Open]

Who: Rory and Molly, Everyone
Where: Med Bay
Summary: Rory takes his daughter to work with him, works on supply lists.
Warnings: None

He had been trying to spend as much time with his daughter as he could, fearing another interruption that would make him miss things or give her time enough to forget him.

For the moment, he was doing an amount of boring bust work that any sane man would have balked at. Surprisingly, the recent events had left much undone.

It had also left an emptier infirmary in its wake.

Molly burbled, half of her hand pushed into her tiny face, bouncing in her chair. She had gotten bigger, and it had only been a month- two?- hard to tell in pod sleep, he had slept and Molly had grown and things had happened.

It would take time to sort it all out again, time to fix things.

He hoped he could fix things. "I doubt that foot tastes very good, little miss Molly, are you sure that's your meal of choice?"

His daughter laughed, reaching for him, and he let her steel his off hand, making faces at the baby and letting himself be distracted from his task.

He needed this too.

Faiza leaned in, rubbing her nose against Molly's. "Well, that's just her trying to work on her fine motor control. We're just lucky that she's not much stronger." Babies were strong enough to begin with. Super strength might mean losing that ear.

"That's good, though. At least we know what to expect in that case. That'll change as she gets older, I expect. I suppose we should look through the media library for information on her species."

"I think Mei-Xing was already repodded before I arrived." She couldn't be certain, but she didn't remember ever working on the woman. "And I can work on people who are magical. I just can't use my abilities on them. So regular surgery wouldn't be out of the question, nor would dealing with common ailments." She looked down at the toddler in her arms. "I'm not certain. You'll forgive me for hoping that we don't have reason to find out, yes?"

Even then, most common ailments or childhood injuries wouldn't require Faiza's unique treatment. As long as it stayed to those, they'd be fine.

Faiza took hold of Molly's hand with her own free one, giving her something to grip. "For me, it all depended on your definition of 'non-human'. I personally always considered mutants to be as human as I was, though there were plenty in my world who wouldn't have afforded them the same courtesy. But with the possibilities of ancient gods, magical creatures and...well, aliens? It was at least somewhat covered in my schooling."
