Working Through The Night [Open]

Who: Rory and Molly, Everyone
Where: Med Bay
Summary: Rory takes his daughter to work with him, works on supply lists.
Warnings: None

He had been trying to spend as much time with his daughter as he could, fearing another interruption that would make him miss things or give her time enough to forget him.

For the moment, he was doing an amount of boring bust work that any sane man would have balked at. Surprisingly, the recent events had left much undone.

It had also left an emptier infirmary in its wake.

Molly burbled, half of her hand pushed into her tiny face, bouncing in her chair. She had gotten bigger, and it had only been a month- two?- hard to tell in pod sleep, he had slept and Molly had grown and things had happened.

It would take time to sort it all out again, time to fix things.

He hoped he could fix things. "I doubt that foot tastes very good, little miss Molly, are you sure that's your meal of choice?"

His daughter laughed, reaching for him, and he let her steel his off hand, making faces at the baby and letting himself be distracted from his task.

He needed this too.

Kang quirked an eyebrow ridge, amused, "Rory, I've told you to not use my title when I'm not on Council business. Don't worry about it; I didn't want to intrude on your family. Hello, Molly." He was afraid to even touch the baby, knowing that he could easily break her. Human young were more delicate than draconian young.

"She's still young," Kang shrugged, sitting down and frowning slightly. "I was busy with my own daughter as well." At least until she'd been repodded. It was too quiet without her around.

He kept his gaze on Molly, watching her curiously. She wasn't near as mobile as his kind's children were at a month.

"I don't know. Kali isn't much taller than a human child would be at her age, and neither is Grosk. They might slow down once they reach a certain age for all I know."

Kang carefully stretched the wing out for Rory, grimacing a bit at the reflection of the hole in a nearby metal surface. It wouldn't affect gliding too much, but if he'd actually been able to fly... it would have been a hindrance. "At least I know she's alive." He hated being stuck with just Crucible around.

Kang snorted softly, "Like I said, I have no idea. There's no telling with our heritage." Smiling wryly, he crossed his arms over his chest and barely suppressed a rustle. "Easier said than done. If we had one of the kapak females around, this'd already be healed."

He paused. "How's Amy doing?"
governorkang: (Having fun)

"You might take that back once you know what they do to heal injuries. They use their saliva," Kang grinned. "That's good to hear. We all need some sort of normalcy around here to keep us sane."

"You're more open-minded than most humans." It was one of the reasons Kang got along so well with Rory.

"Why is she here with you tonight?"

Kang snorted, wincing slightly at the initial sting of the antibiotics. "That's a lesson a bunch of people on this ship need to learn still."

He nodded, "I understand completely."
