Sobek the Immortal: Bringing a God to His Knees [Closed]

Who: Daniel Jackson, Vala Mal Doran, Eva, The Master, Eleventh Doctor, Jamie McCrimmon
Where: Kalimba (planet side)
Summary: A small crew goes on an archaeological expedition to a jungle planet, where System Lord was imprisoned. Taking Daniel as his host, he captures the crew and tortures them, while rebuilding his fleet.
Warnings: Violence, torture, gore

((Part One and Part Two here))

As time drew on, there was no sign of Stacy, rescue parties or of a single landing pods. The typhoon season approached closer with each day, rain and wind spattering the leaves on some days, varying between intense heat and humidity on other days. The megafauna in the jungles had grown more active too. The earth rumbled under their feet as they starting their migration amidst hooting calls and croaks. Throughout the varying weather, one thing remained constant. The hive of activity around the three step pyramids never ceased, slaves either taking shifts or in the most fanatical cases, working themselves near to death or to death. It was like this all across Kalimba. The call had gone out with the instructions for the slaves: work was to begin on restoring the Crocodile God's fleets underneath each step pyramid all across the planet. They were his Chosen, his Children, and he would ensure they were rewarded for their faith.

The complex swarmed with slaves and guards moving weapons and parts. Sobek and his personal guards were also in and out more often as the fleet began to take shape, often traveling to other sites to check on progress. Stones fell away from each ship as far as the eye could see. More and more of each ha'tak was revealed, while lines of human bodies went inside to work on the interiors. If the number of step pyramids that towered through the jungle were any indication, his fleet would be massive.

((same as Part 2: run your own posts with each other, more private threads with Sobek are available at the start. Part 3 does not have to immediately include end-plot stuff. If you want more CR amongst each other or your character being messed with by Sobek, please do!))

The Doctor turned to look at the symibote writhing in her hand. Vala had that look as if she would feel much better if it was dead and not likely to jump into her if it had a chance.

“Give me a few minutes.” He said, tilting his head.

His face smoothed out as he studied the young alien coiling around Vala’s arm, taking on an expression of careful blankness. This goa’uld hadn’t done anything like Sobek had, as far as he knew, but at this point, he did have to weigh their options and those options were extremely limited. The Doctor took a sample of the fluid, analyzing it with a buzz of the sonic screwdriver before having a look at the naquadah he had from the samples from Vala. With this he thought it should be possible to come up with a solution, the Doctor working away furiously in his little corner, his sonic giving a lonely green glow. After a while, he turned to Vala, holding out a vial of something that for all intents and purposes looked like water.

“Try this.”

"You seriously need a shave by the way," Vala chimed in off the cuff as she backed off from the Primta when it rasped at her. Nasty things, even without a Jaffa or a host it seemed to look at her like it was superior in some way.

The Doctor appeared to know what he was doing, she'd have been lost without him, not a point that she found easy admitting to, even to herself. Or maybe it was like when she came across a security system she'd never encountered before. Somehow instinct kicked in and things just happened, she liked to think it was skill but if truth be known it was usually just fluke with a modicum of intelligent guesswork.

"Well that doesn't look particularly potent, I was expecting something that smoked maybe, fluorescent maybe. Or at least effervescent!"

The tired looking raven haired woman took the vial however and held it poised ready to empty a few drops into the goa'uld's mouth from above. Squeezing the pressure point in its glands that would make it open wide (which in itself seemed to be instinct more than conscious knowledge) the jaws of the creature opened up willingly, frozen there immobile for the time she needed to empty a few drops inside him.

"That enough?" She asked, still holding it at arm's length, and keeping its jaw locked open.

“Yeah. Should work,” The Doctor reached up to rub self-consciously at his chin. He hadn’t quite grown a beard as impressive as Jamie’s scruff, but it was getting there. He’d forgotten it was there after a moment. Torture did do that to you. “There we are.”

His voice was quiet, eyes on the symbiote in Vala’s hand. The thing had gone stiff after a pained squeal, those fleshly little fins on the side of its body flaring out angrily like it wanted to make a final stand and it was realizing it couldn’t. After what felt like far too long the alien suddenly drooped over, limp, against Vala’s arm. The Doctor leaned forward to peer at it, ready to jump backward in case it was faking. A few minutes passed. He waved the sonic over the symbiote, and, with one of those flicks of his wrist, consulted the scan’s results, hemmig and hawing and making “Oh, I see”’s under his breath. After a moment he looked up at Vala, meeting her eyes. The human looked older than she really was, all those long months under Sobek’s rule drawing those lines in her face deep. He had to wonder when she had a good night’s sleep.

If they pulled this off – and survived. That was the important part – he hoped she could still sleep. Humans were some of the most resilient aliens he’d come across. She would survive. She’d find a way. Vala, like Eva, had gotten this far.

“It works,” the Doctor said. He didn’t sound pleased or triumphant. Not this time. “I’ll have some ready to deal with Sobek.”

Sleeping's overrated anyway Doctor, Vala learned to tell herself that a long time ago. She's lived her entire life under the dark shadow of the Goa'uld System Lords. Sobek has managed to imprint fresh atrocities in her mind though, images of dying men with their chests ripped open and ribcages turned inside out while they still breathed, she's wondered too many times already if her mind will lock them away in her subconscious just like it did with Qetesh.

The dead Goa'uld in her hand doesn't affect her at all, she's not gleeful but there's a satisfying smile as it finally gives up and flops over her arm. She does however sense the melancholy in the Doctor. "There's no other way. Their race aren't redeemable Doctor. He'd have stopped at nothing, destroying entire planets in his thirst for power and blood and violence. It wouldn't have ended."

It's as close as Vala's ever got to showing real empathy for others infront of anyone since she arrived on Stacy. A glimpse of the real woman underneath the brassy facade, just don't tell anyone. She's quick to brush it off and get back to business though.

"So how exactly am I going to give it to Sobek? Somehow I don't think he's going to open wide like a good boy, and I'm all out of smiley stickers and candy bribes."

Ah, so Vala will be the voice of reason today. Someone has to do it apparently. Anyway, they're not all thoughts he hasn't had thousands of times before all across his lives and he's told himself that after each new genocide until the words start to lose meaning. The Doctor's eyes raise from the dead Goa'uld in Vala's hand to her face. That smile. It's personal for her, of course. Humans always take it personal and he doesn't blame them. At least they're honest about it.

"Well!" The Doctor gives himself a shake, fiddling around with the tubes and needles that Jamie has brought them. There's loads of that he's had plenty of time to get...well, more familiar with them than he cared too admit. He holds up one. "I'll administer it through injection. It should stay active in your system and take effect once Sobek tries to enter. If he enters. I can't say what long-term exposure to it will do to you."

He knows she's committed. Vala's like Eva in that aspect. Not exactly the sort of woman to do things by halves.

The Doctor begins prepping the solution and the needle, the sonic burning green in the dim lighting until he has a filled needle ready to go.

Of course it's personal, Vala's lived almost her entire life under the rule of the Goa'uld. She lost seven years of her life to one, memories that she might be able to suppress in the day but at night when her imagination is left to its own devices conjures up constant images of horror.

"Wait, you're injecting me?" For some reason that thought had never crossed her mind, she'd just assumed she'd be administering it to Sobek.

"Oh." There's a long pause, the cogs in her mind visibly ticking over as she digests that. It doesn't take her long to accept it though. Fly by the seat of her pants, march ahead without thinking about it. If she stopped and thought too much, she might back out and let her selfish instincts kick in. "Okay then." It's a surprisingly relaxed response, no more gravity to her reply than if he'd asked her if she wanted a cup of coffee.

"Where? My arm? Please don't say my ass. I'll just think you're using it as an excuse to see it."

"Of course I'm injecting you," the Doctor said. "It tastes terrible. Trust me."

Don't ask where he had the time to give it a thorough taste-testing. The Doctor reached out to take her hand in his, his grip gentle as he turned her arm and looked for a good point to go sticking it in.

"The median cubital vein will do." He'd like to say the needle is clean, but there wasn't much to sterilize it aside from giving it a pass with the sonic. Besides, he suspected that at this point, sterilization was the least of their worries, what with the future escape and trying not to get pulled in with the fleet once they actually try to activate those time engines.

"I was just about to suggest the same," Vala replied tongue in cheek not having a clue what he was blathering on about. A vein was a vein. And hygiene was hardly an issue, you only had to look at their accomodation for the last six months, never mind the lack of sterile hospital wards and equipment in Vala's world before she ever set foot on Earth.

She held out her arm, biting back the squickiness of it all. She'd be a hell of a hypocrite if she were to balk at this after the things she'd seen Sobek do. There were no more questions, no checking details. This was happening, what was the point in thinking it over too much or knowing the potential ins and outs of it? Sobek was planning on taking her as a host anyway, at least this way she had some hope of avoiding that.

"So I do the deed and meet you all back at Eneesh's ship with Daniel then?" She made it sound like a merry jaunt to the park, she of all people knew it would be far from it. But there was no point dwelling on it. Everything could go wrong, but they had to take their chances.

"That's the plan!" The Doctor flashed her a tired smile through his bird's nest of a beard. It wasn't quite on par with his usual grin that got humans to run that extra distance when they were about to get shot at - it was still a very good effort, though. "We need to be quick about it. We probably won't have much time to secure an escape."

Make that no time at all, but he decided Vala was better off concentrating on getting Daniel out. He slid the needle into the vein at the crook of her elbow, slowly injecting the mixture and peering into her face for any sign she might have any adverse reactions. So far she was looking like herself; in other words, better than expected, considering everything Sobek had thrown at them.

The Doctor glanced at the empty needle and then tossed it to the side, not sorry to be rid of it. Ideally, they'd be able to get off planet and send a distress call to Stacy, provided they got enough distance and the fleet didn't pull them into the event horizon. He kept all that to himself, instead giving Vala a pat on the shoulder as he levered himself to his feet and tucked his sonic screwdriver into his pocket.
