It took everything she had not to spit in his face when he held her jaw and inspected her like an animal for sale in a market, but she couldn't risk angering him now. If she did anything to make him change his mind, it was game over for all of them. She simply looked at him impassively, biting back the hatred for the snake that had brought them to this juncture.

"You'll have all my thoughts as soon as you've taken me. But if you must know I'm on the edge of my seat with anticipation." It was ambiguous, neither sarcastic nor genuine. The corner of her lips turned up and she half smirked, half smiled. Her thoughts were hers, and she was damned if she was sharing anything before she had to.
