Roaming, restless [After Dungeon Keeper]

Morgan was restless.

When restless, he tended to roam the ship, checking on things he knew of, or seeking out places he didn't out of curiosity. Today was a little of both. After the pitched battle in Hydroponics, he felt a particular obligation towards one plant in particular: the apple tree he'd helped Applejack grow from a seed. For all that he'd done his best to contain Hydroponic in the fight, he hadn't been able to do anything specific to protect that plant.

Done there, he headed back down in the City, off to one particular place that had caught his interest when he had heard about it: an 'air temple'. Not on the map, not listed in the directory, or he'd have wandered over just to take a look a long time ago. Now that he'd heard about it, well...

Time to investigate.

"Or that," Veronica answers with a half-grin. "Hopefully that's a good interesting."

[morganknight]

"Well," he said, smile growing more broad, "no complaints so far."

"If I was more harsh on myself, I'd say give it time, but I'll refrain." A beat. "Though, I'm curious as to what kind of interest that is."

[morganknight]

"Hmph, I'd be glad if you weren't harsh on yourself, it'd be a pleasant change between the extremes of unwarranted egotism and total self-destruction that seem so pervasive," he said, folding his arms. "As for type, well, I'm flexible."

He let that hang a moment, then arched his eyebrows again to quite effectively make it horrible innuendo.

Veronica chuckles at both comments. "Well, both the interest and flexibility are duly noted, but I think there's a couple of objections to it."

[morganknight]

"No worries." He waved a hand, still smiling, as if to dismiss the whole matter entirely. Morgan wasn't about to get hung up on a rejection; he was long past that particular stage of life.

"Hopefully that doesn't chase you off completely, though - having someone I can banter with like all this is high on my wantlist."

[morganknight]

"Kind of a depressing reflection on my gender that you'd honestly have to worry that I'd lose all interest in you from one rejection," Morgan said with a wry smirk. "But I like having friends, too."

[snarkingscribe]

"Well, let's just say the guys I knew back home were a lot less, ah, civil on majority." There's a slight awkwardness to the tone that indicated that her choice of words was likely quite the understatement.

[morganknight]

"Yeah, me too. That's why it's so damn sad," he said, his half-smile not really humorous at all.

[snarkingscribe]

Well, that was an awkward turn once again. "I guess all the more reason to be glad that things here are a lot different than I'm used to."

[morganknight]

"What's it like where you're from? I mean, not that this ship is all bad, but it's strange to hear anyone describe how different it is as something to be glad about." He nodded slightly to the City around them. "Not the most pleasant place, you know?"

"It's... Pretty rough. World as we know it's down to a radioactive wasteland. Mutant creatures, savages, people doing all kinds of terrible shit to each other just to get by. The few factions that have cropped up can't get along at all, so add even more fighting on top of that." There's a grin, though it's a hollow one. "Even as things are here, it's a vacation comparatively."

Morgan stared at her for a moment.

"I'm sorry I asked. Yeah, you almost ARE getting a vacation here."

[snarkingscribe]

"Yeah, can't say I miss a lot of the stuff," she answers with a half-grin. "There's things that I do, but it's pretty nice to wander around and not have to worry about being shot at."

[morganknight]

Not sure whether to grimace, express sympathy, or just feel awkward for bringing up memories that bad, Morgan adopted an expression that sort of managed all three of those at once. "Well, all I can say is that you must be made of iron. Despite not looking it!"

At that comment, Veronica smirks. "Well, I'm more partial to steel than iron, but I can't say I disagree."

[morganknight]

"...I don't know why I have an urge to say 'that's what SHE said,' and I feel kind of bad for thinking it," Morgan admitted.

Veronica chuckles - there's a slight devious tone to it. "Well, steel doesn't rust as easily, can take a lot of punishment and still manage to hit the mark when it counts..."

[morganknight]

Morgan actually giggled. "Okay. I'm glad I'm not the only one with a slightly dirty mind."

She'd gone up a few notches in his estimation, to be sure.

[snarkingscribe]

There's an amused scoff from the scribe. "Are you kidding me? Nine times out of ten, humor where I come from is either dirty or terribly dark. I'd think I'm a little more than 'slightly'."

[morganknight]

He looked at her a moment, then grinned even more broadly. "Okay, you're definitely on the list of people to hang out with then."
