Video Games [Open]

Asuka mashed at the buttons on the controller, eyes locked on the screen in front of her. After that debacle in that stupid modeling contest and then the robots, she needed time to unwind. Time where she wasn't feeling absolutely helpless or angry or pissed off. Which was hard. All she did was pilot. Or prepare in her X-Wing. But at least that gave her a purpose. Something to do to break up the monotony, so she could ignore the fact that she'd already failed one world. She shook her head.

Why was she dwelling on that? She was Asuka Langley Soryu. She had her Eva back, she had a purpose. She was invincible. And she would win.

Asuka went back to concentrating on her video game.

"Revenge for what?" Asuka cocked a brow. Weird girl. And probably not as good as her.

"I'm Asuka Langley Soryu. I pilot Evangelion Unit 02. It's the big red one."

She sounded hideously proud of that fact.

"Back home I was in a fight. Stupid shadow government that went around doing horrible things to people. I had them JUST where I wanted and a flash of light, then I'm swimming in snot."

Maria sets down the controller and looks back.

"I was the ace of aces back home. Over 500 confirmed kills. The Angel of Shevat..."

While she looks fiercely proud of it, she also looks almost sad by it.

"Couldn't have been better than me," Asuka shot back, video game forgotten for the moment. There's quite a lot of pride and arrogance in her voice. "I was the Second Child, pilot of Evangelion Unit 02. The first combat-purposed Eva unit."

Admittedly, she didn't have many kills, but that happened when you fought monstrosities from another dimension or whatever it was that Angels were.

Maria shrugs a bit, there is a certain quiet cockiness about her tone.

"I've seen a lot of aces, I've been a pilot since I was four after all, but my Seibzehn was built to be the most advanced thing of its time and even was able to... Defeat the unit that came after it. With 9 years of technological upgrades."

"I've been training since I was five," Asuka said. Weird. Another world where pilots trained from a young age. Oh, well, not like she cared all that much.

"I never had to fight another Eva unit. We're mostly supposed to fight the Angels. I haven't really had a chance to use it since I got here, though...."

"Funny, someone said there were pilots that recruited. Wonder why they wouldn't have a chance to launch a perfectly good robot. Angels some classification for some weird bioweapon or something? I know I got into several brawls with the Elements but most of the time they were just overblown loudmouths."

"Angels were aliens that were trying to destroy humanity and start Third Impact," Asuka replied primly. Seriously, everyone knew this back home.

"Looks like the Ohm beat them to it. And I didn't even get a shot at them."

"Yeah, that's what I thought. Until they actually showed up. They're still not going to be hard," she added hastily, "But they're tougher than the usual stuff I had to deal with back home."

So nonchalant. So arrogant.

"The graviton cannon...? The Eva doesn't have one of those."

"The Graviton cannon... It was dad's secret weapon, he only made one. It increases the gravity to 5000 G's in an area for a few seconds."

Pretty cool, actually.

"...like it'd be useful. We didn't have anything like that, but we did have loads of cannons and prog-knives and other stuff."

Asuka cups her hand in her chin with a little 'hmmph'.

"Maybe I'll have to show you my Eva sometime."

"Well, the Graviton cannon was sealed for years. I got most of my training on the missile pods, plasma cannons and just the rocket fists. But I'm sure you know how that is."

Maria ponders for a bit and nods.

"Maybe next time there is a planet fall with a canyon or something we could both go out flying then."
