This will not be a relic.

A little after the Shodan attack, Mindy would learn that both Sasami and Negi would be repodded, further darkening her mood after all of the fight: no victory, nothing to be really proud of, just a good, swift win. That was life on Stacy, so be it. What was more, for all intent purposes, "Mindy" had to make sure to look broken up about the death of her father, which was obviously not a stretch. But there was something, in her estimation, that needed to be taken care of first and foremost, which was why Ruffnut would notice that there was no Mindy around the castle for the last few days. In fact, Mindy had spent that time in and out of the Juraian Royal Palace, through the permission of Starfire, of course. This was because she was cleaning out the debris those fucking robots left behind in the one place Mindy was adamant needed to be preserved: The First Tree Cafe.

Or formerly that, anyway. The sign had been done away with, with a new sign replacing it: Negi and Sasami's Diner. Granted, the inside was still a bit of a fixer upper, but the lights were working, the chairs were clean of garbage and robot entrails, and a now dusty but accomplished looking girl was busy inside, busy cooking.

Outside there was another sign: Negi and Sasami's Diner
Under New Management
Alien Burgers
Apple Pies
Soup
Ask for anything else and you will get punched in the face.
More food to be added at a date TBD.

[To Note: Splitting this post in two: for those coming into the restaurant, and Mindy going back to the castle.]

Silently Ruffnut led Mindy back into their home letting her cry while the older girl walked her into the cool soothing darkness. There were no ghostly giggles, no pranks to walk into right now. Just the lanky blond girl guiding Mindy into the lobby and to a sofa where they could sit and hold one another.

It all felt horribly awkward in it's silence. Ruffnut felt like she should be more emotionally shaken by the revelation, but she barely knew Mindy's father. So instead she was heartbroken because of how sad Mindy was. Sympathy pain was not something Vikings usually did.

So she held firm, could stay strong for Mindy's sake.

"Yeah, he's been in and out. Spending alot of time with his you know...friends." she was meaning the Ghosts.

The place still smelled musty, but familiar. It was their home now and the more time spent there the more it was comforting.

"It probably doesn't hurt that we've got so many floors above us. If our rooms got trashed we could just move to another one." She offered some half hearted small talk.

...disapproval. Disapproval is happening.

"Don't worry about it." She mumbled not letting go just yet. "No shame in it." She was digging deep to find the right words but nothing seemed good enough.

"We'll deal with it." She corrected Mindy and brushed cheek to cheek with her instinctively. Then she pouted a little "I thought I was doing pretty good."

"Well yeah, it's my tower of course I'd be here to greet you." She smirked playfully.

She offered a soft shy cheek kiss and gave Mindy a gentle squeeze. "Missed you too. Was worried when I didn't hear from you when the powers came back on. And worrying about stuff feels weird." Because she doesn't do it much.

"You woulda been fine." Ruffnut managed a warm soft smile, "Because you don't have to deal with crap alone anymore."

"I mean..." She shrugged awkwardly, "I know that's how you always do stuff, but maybe next time just come to me. We can deal with it together you know?" Not that she had the faintest idea how they would deal with it. But she'd do her best.

Ruffnut nodded and listened as Mindy spoke. She knew the younger girl had seen more combat then Ruffnut had, killed far more people too and as such endured far more pain. She was like a grizzled old veteran but without the years and years of emotional growth.

"We'll do whatever you wanna do."

Ruffnut grinned right back and unceremoniously threw Mindy over her shoulder carrying her like a sack of vegetables. "Aww someone is sweepy!" Ruff mocked Mindy using a "Talking to babies" voice before cackling knowing what was coming.

"Ahhhhh shadduup." Ruffnut called back over her shoulder and began racing up the stairs and through the halls, even jumping over a hole in the floor before throwing open the door to Ruffnut's room which had somehow survived the attacks in tact. Mindy would find herself thrown onto the bed only long enough for her to see Ruffnut flying through the air to land on her.

"I can't hear you I'm taking a nap!" Ruffnut sang teasingly as she locked her arms around Mindy and nestled herself into the bed as if Mindy was some kind of teddy bear.

If nothing else Ruffnut was good at distractions.

"Uh huh." Ruffnut grinned wickedly behind Mindy and yawned back to help her feel even sleepier. "You're the strongest most badass ever. We all know." And a little ego stroking didn't hurt. Sometimes Ruff proved herself more clever then even she was willing to admit.
