A little after the Shodan attack, Mindy would learn that both Sasami and Negi would be repodded, further darkening her mood after all of the fight: no victory, nothing to be really proud of, just a good, swift win. That was life on Stacy, so be it. What was more, for all intent purposes, "Mindy" had to make sure to look broken up about the death of her father, which was obviously not a stretch. But there was something, in her estimation, that needed to be taken care of first and foremost, which was why Ruffnut would notice that there was no Mindy around the castle for the last few days. In fact, Mindy had spent that time in and out of the Juraian Royal Palace, through the permission of Starfire, of course. This was because she was cleaning out the debris those fucking robots left behind in the one place Mindy was adamant needed to be preserved: The First Tree Cafe.

Or formerly that, anyway. The sign had been done away with, with a new sign replacing it: Negi and Sasami's Diner. Granted, the inside was still a bit of a fixer upper, but the lights were working, the chairs were clean of garbage and robot entrails, and a now dusty but accomplished looking girl was busy inside, busy cooking.

"Pretty much," says Roger. "I've already got my usual weapons- just not an assault rifle. Found 'em when I was working on trying to hunt down my armor. There's some interesting tech in there."

"Yeah, but I can't see why they wouldn't be able to hook you up with an assault rifle. The way I figure, you have two options: imagine one in the Sensoriums, or talk to Leon about it."

"Question," Roger said, holding up a finger. "The Sensoriums. I saw the name but haven't looked into them much yet. What are they, anyway?"

If only people had more access to Star Trek. It would make explaining the Sensoriums so much easier.

"The Sensoriums is a place that basically simulates anything from your brain and makes it seem real. It's a place where people train, relax, do a whole bunch of stuff so they can stay sane. Me, I use it to remember the parts of Earth I'm starting to forget."

"Huh."

He's read stories about things like that- old pulp stuff, the kind of thing Edgar Rice Burroughs would write if he could get away with it- but never thought even the scientists at Big MT would come up with anything like that.

"Might have to check that out, now that you mention it. Thanks."

"It's a good idea, trust me. You have some people scared as piss about it, but that's just because the whole idea of artificial reality set by your mind is unnerving to the. Basically, they're p-wussies."

Almost slipped there.

"I don't think you'll be disappointed."

One eyebrow rose a little at the near miss, but Roger let it slide. Wasn't important. "I'll tell you," he said, "it's been a long time since I've seen Wisconsin. If it can pull that off... that'll make up for a lot."

Man, that had been a dumb thing for her to slip on. Whatever though. "It helps a lot of people, trust me. And if you're looking for an actual real place to relax, there's always the hot springs."

"Real ones?" said Roger. "Huh. Haven't been to one of those since I was in Canada during the annexation. The aliens that built this place really went all out, didn't they."

"Actually, that was something created on the ship by one of our engineers," Mindy said. "A bright guy, goes by the name Billy Cranston. He's pretty sharp: you'll want to get to know him."

"Billy Cranston," Roger repeated. "Got it. At this rate I'm going to owe you a good many favors, young lady."

"I'm just passing the information along, like any good crew member would...well, should anyway," Mindy replied. "The whole point of adjusting here is knowing the ins and outs of the place, right?"

"True. Still, it never hurts to keep an ear out for information other people might find useful," Roger said. "Thank you, regardless."

"True, can't hurt," Mindy said, grinning despite herself. "Now that aside, think its time we get you fed, right? What are you thinking?"

"Let's see about that burger," Roger decided. "The pie can wait for later."

"Coming up," Mindy said, making a note in her head that it be cooked pretty perfectly. "How do you like it?"

"As long as it's not raw and it's not burned it's fine by me," Roger says, "but if you can pull off medium rare, that'd be fantastic."

"I'm all over it," Mindy said, giving him a wink. "Just gotta get all the right conditions."
