Is Your Love Strong Enough? Part 6 - The Final Scratch

Such a strange occurrence needed, finally a conclusion. Thanks for the Time Lord's trinket gift, there was suddenly an old, fearsome creature made of gears, it's old features squeaking (although not as bad as before, since a certain someone had given him a good oil job). Analog,the fearsome creature known by some as a the crankiest Time Dragon, walked in the city to find out o where Eleven was. She could smell him even in here, you see (wow that's creepy). Flanked by her three handmaidens, the women giggling like schoolgirls at everything, memorized at the ship. The city could hold her well, for all her large size.

First step - Find the Doctor, ask him what he wants. Step two - Do that. Step three - Get out of here.

She still was a Time Dragon, after all. Proud....and cranky. These boring old puny humanoids were nothing as the greatness of HERSELF so the sooner they were our of her mind, the better.

It was probably weird, then, that as they talked the light around them began to dim so much a strange sphere of darkness fell, causing Lash's glowing to be even more evident as the source was being adsorbed right into her. Oh great. She was going to get sick after this, wasn't she? Probably would need to go to the medical ward for the headache too.

Without warning, Lash stood up and bolts of lightening were unleashed outwards from her, hands, ears and mouth and right into the sky.

The unleashing of this power was always incredibly painful the first time. Each required a new connection in Wars World, and Lash had always ended up exactly like Zetta had suspected; headaches and vomiting when it was done. She had little doubt it was going to here as well. Yet knowing all too well that the most powerful ones back in her homeworld had been with family members and those that cared...about...each...other...it wasn't too hard to figure out what was happening...but Zetta wasn't a Commanding Officer! (And maybe she was back to slightly denying the whole caring part. Although it was much harder now.) Yet...an Overlord could count as a Commanding Officer, right? Her own powers seemed to think so.

"Power Strike!"

So that's what she'd been trying to tell them. No one really knew back at home how it happened, but it was probably the most dangerous move on any battlefield. Thankfully the light and lightening was more for show than anything else, even if it was draining to those involved. Combining CO powers to attack together, giving their armies the bonuses of both. Alone, a CO was powerful. Together, they were deadly. For one, tiny moment, their minds connect, a sort of mind synergy, as they quickly ordered their soldiers a series of moves and movements that a CO by itself would be impossible to do. When the people involved actually liked each other, the powers could be incredibly devastating power-boosting waves...

A few things happened, then. Suddenly it felt like she was alone with Zetta for a few seconds, powerful and strong, and everything seemed to slow down around them to a near crawling standstill. To Mindy and Ruffnut, it probably appeared that the both of them were now glowing.

The pain suddenly stopped, and Lash looked around confused and panicking, touching her forehead to make sure she wasn't dead. How come the pain had completely evaporated?

"Huh? That's weird! That never happened before."

"...the hell was all that?" Zetta said intelligently, looking around. "Looked like your power went pretty wild there."

The energy expenditure involved here was, for Zetta, miniscule; an order of magnitude less than Inviting a host of minions and ordering then about on the battlefield. He seemed unaffected, and was certainly unaware of any contribution he might be having to this whole mess.

"It's a Power Strike," she repeated again. "It happens when two Commanding Officers use their powers together. I guess since you use your power all the time I just connected to yours in some way...It was a technique we developed in Black Hole during the third war. You know, twice the pain equals twice the terror and so on. Usually it's pretty hard on the system the first time. For both users."

She shrugged. This was about as new to her as it was to Zetta, even if he had no idea he was involved.

"Figures man," Hit girl said, shrugging. "I didn't have a doubt in my mind that was going to happen when the two of you collided together or whatever, and that's without understanding any of that crazy shit you guys talk about with powers and mana and stuff. I guess that means me and Ruffnut will have to work twice as hard, so we're not lagging behind."

And she looked at the viking girl expectantly for agreement.

Ruffnut rolled her eyes, "As if. We're the ones who figured out this love junk before they did." She didn't believe it for a minute though. She just didn't want to rag on Mindy for always thinking about training.

"Pffft, yeah right! Love junk whatever, what's really important here is all these stat bonuses that this could potentially do in terms to others and powering up the ship. I kinda wonder what it will do, actually. Maybe it can even power Zetta's henchmen too! Heck now we've just got to unleash it on you guys to see what I mean and..."

She looked over at Zetta.

"...But first we'll need a name for it. That's how it works. You wanna do the honors?"

Come on Zetta, time to be creative.

"...is there a character limit?" Netherworld attacks generally were pre-named, but even in those cases there was only so much you could fit on the display line.

And then they were back to talking abut whatever the fuck that she had no idea what it was. Character limits and power ups and all of that shit. Jesus, it was like trying to talk to D&D players.

"Oh for fucks sake, just call it 'afro demon' dance or whatever and be done with it. Sheesh."

Ruffnut snorted and gave Mindy a shove, "That's a stupid name, how about "Mad Love!" because ya know...you're both insane right? And the whole love thing is how you got the attack." It was just as terrible a name but at least Ruffnut could see how important a good name was?

"It doesn't work like that!" Lash protested at Ruffnut, the weird light still circling her. "It's sort of...man I dunno how to describe it. It just forms in your head or something. Like when I first used by Prime Tactics? It's like I always knew it should be called like that." She crossed her arms. "Dual Strikes are much more rare. In fact this is the fourth I've been able to do all my life!"

And we all knew Lash had lived a long life.

"Rebel Strike with Hawke, Brainstorm with Sonja and Battle Cruise with Flak." A pause. "It's kinda really bad if you try to do one with someone who doesn't like you." She looked at Zetta again. "Uhhhhhh I had no idea. All I know is that right now I feel like there's a bazillion pins and needles in my entire body from this energy overstock."

In other words, HURRY UP.

He'll give you a 'dual strike', Lash.

You know. In bed.

Right?

Zetta thought a moment (about things that weren't what he had just been thinking about), then suggested, "Advent of Apocalypse?"

HE thought it was cool, and frankly given who exactly was involved in this team-up, 'apocalypse' might in fact be underselling the end result.

"DUDE, YES. That is a perfect name! Advent of Apocalypse! It sounds all dangerous and kick ass! You should totally call it that!"

She would wonder if she and Ruffnut could make a formation like that later. After all, they were all from different worlds, right? Who knew what could be done anyway?

"It's pretty good." Ruffnut agreed, "But is it Apocalypse strong?" Because it would be a letdown if something called Apocalypse didn't live up to it's name.

She had to admit the name was pretty fitting. It felt...right. "Only one way to find out!" Lash replied, rubbing her nose for a second before cracking her fingers. Yeah so what if they'd just revealed that they liked each other a lot, there were powers to unleash!

Without warning, she grabbed the book and jumped to the highest vintage point of this stupid goddess' temple, marveling that she was doing this without too much Ranger powers and how easy carrying Zetta seemed to be at that moment. Also the fact she wasn't stick or stuck with a headache, that stopped her from doing crazy things in a powered-up state.

"Okay listen up you two! Power Strikes are...well, usually anyway...two COs using their powers together, increasing their range and power as well as boosting the defense and power of their targets even more. However! Since there's an Overlord involved, who knows what that's gonna cause!" Well considering the name of the strike, lots of chaos, hopefully. What Lash did know at this point is if she had to keep this power inside more she would explode ~~(Zetta if you mane a pun about that)~~

"Hold on to your ha--well Ruffnut can hold on to her viking hat anyway." The air got strange around them again, as the light fade a bit once more. This time the lighting strike around them, not right into Lash.

"Tee hee hee! This is going to be crazy fun, I just know it!" Crazy fun for osmeone like Lash, anyway. "Let's make things go SPLAT!"

[OOC - Here's that got mod approved; It only works if the both of them are around. Basically it boosts soldiers/friends allies to attack twice as strong, move twice as fast and twice as defensive as before. Zetta's summons are also affected, and Zetta gets the bonuses and I guess bloodbath everywhere.

...but in this case probably just a lot of punched out temple walls.]

Zetta, unsure of what to do in this situation, did what any good Overlord would do: he checked the HELP section of the menu for new information.

Let's see here... 'Power Strikes: You are not a CO. Why are you even trying to use a Power Strike? This would require--' Skip page, skip page, skip page. 'In the extremely unlikely event you fallen in love with a CO after deaging to a time period in which it was appropriate to attempt to date her, followed by sharing a body with her even though you are a book, you can...'

Blah blah, blah. Zetta exited out of the tutorial menu and just scrolled through the combat options, which he should have done in the first place. And there it was: "Power Strike." (And 'Magichange'? What the hell was that?)

"Hyaaaa ha ha ha ha ha!" Zetta laughed as he drew on his power, then linked it with Lash's as naturally as if they had been doing this all their lives.

It was so lucky that Mindy had gotten to used to this whole weird ass looking through video gamey help section part, otherwise she would be pretty lost right now.

"Yay, the shit I was telling you would probably happen did," Mindy said, shaking her head. "See what happens when you guys aren't being dopey douches?"

Ruffnut however was much more interested in testing out just how much stronger she was. She could feel the power surging through her and could even sort of sense what direction it was coming through. Lightning crackled with each step she took as she seized Mindy and threw her directly up into the air as hard as she could to see how high she would go.

"HeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeYAH!"

~~Lash also threw Zetta to see how high up in the air he'd go.~~

Well at least Lash figured with her CO powers working on making things not fall, it would mean Mindy would come back down and land on her feet.

...Right?

Right!

This was so cool! It was the science part of her being completely fascinated, you see. She ignored the part where Zetta starting speaking things about unlikely events and blah blah blahing and instead watched the other two going at it.

"Oh man! Just imagine what would happen if an entire army used it!" She cracked her hands again and it was sorta weird how they seemed to do a tiny bit of a power surge as she did that. "This completely changes the rules on how CO powers work!" (Not really, Lash just assumed, but it was just more powerful). "I wonder how long it can last!"

"Uh, how long do they normally last? I'm guessing the rules haven't changed that much..."

Zetta blinked, then frowned. "This is gonna take you right the hell out when it comes to an end, isn't it. You get headaches and crap just from your NORMAL power."

Ok, that was...almost unexpected. It was Ruffnut, so just expecting her to do whatever crazy ass shit in her head was just about the norm, once you got down to it. But the funny thing was, being thrown in the air usually was an instant thing: you were throw in the air, you were up, you were down.

This, however, felt slower to her: in fact, she adjusted herself in the air to fall on feet, and somehow, she was already feeling the strength building up. Looks like those two hadn't been just saying it would grant other people strength: it was doing just that. She knew it wasn't her slowing down, but just the opposite, she was moving so quickly it looked seamless.

So when Mindy finally DID come down, on her feet as Lash had figured she would, the ground actually shook. Any harder, it was likely the girl would have made a dent in the ground.

"Shit, that was excellent! You can actually sort of control the strength you put out, and you're so fast!"

Ruffnut however was not finished. She slapped her hands together above her head and as she pulled them apart began to make a giant ball of electricity which crackled and buzzed dangerously making her hair and anyone close enough start to rise with static electricity.

"I AM THOR!!!" She cackled a little drunk on Lash and Zetta's power...Hopefully it wouldn't run out soon.

"Depends on the experience of the Commanding Officer and the strength of the Power Strike," Lash explained. "Each of us had a different amount of time before they were able to unleash their powers, and it could last anything from a few minutes to...a lot of them. Power Strikes were a pretty new thing, I hadn't had that much time in research." She pointed at the girls, sitting down. Her hair was pretty ridiculous right now, as the electrical static made it rise in an even silliest manner.

"Tee hee! Look at them go! Now imagine of you had your own minions out right now...that would be crazy!"

"My guys'd be a little more subdued about it. Those two are where the real value is at," Zetta said, but he wasn't watching his disciples too closely. Actually, he was thinking Lash's hair looked entertaingly cool.

Then he winced at himself. Man, he was already getting way too stupidly soft if he was thinking stupid things like that.

"This isn't much power for me," he said, to take his mind off stupid things. "I'm basically using your power as a way to get my strength to them. If you start feeling bad, I'm cutting it off, you hear me?"

Oh, she noticed that lingering look at Lash, Overlord. The most she'd give him, though, is a smug look, and decided to look at her OWN girl taking advantage of her newfound power. Her hands were itching try something of her own though, and a moment later she'd fire a few shots in the air in the blink of an eye.

NICE.

"If she starts feeling bad we stop," Mindy said, still staring at Ruffnut. "No one's fainting over this."

Ruffnut hadn't been paying attention because she was trying to figure out what to do with the ball of lightning. She ended up dropping it behind her which made a sizeable explosion and put a deep hole in the floor.

"Yeah ok. Till then..." And she was on Mindy like a bolt of lightning tackling her for the purposes of a quick wrestling match.
