Is Your Love Strong Enough? Part 6 - The Final Scratch
Such a strange occurrence needed, finally a conclusion. Thanks for the Time Lord's trinket gift, there was suddenly an old, fearsome creature made of gears, it's old features squeaking (although not as bad as before, since a certain someone had given him a good oil job). Analog, the fearsome creature known by some as a the crankiest Time Dragon, walked in the city to find out o where Eleven was. She could smell him even in here, you see (wow that's creepy). Flanked by her three handmaidens, the women giggling like schoolgirls at everything, memorized at the ship. The city could hold her well, for all her large size.
First step - Find the Doctor, ask him what he wants. Step two - Do that. Step three - Get out of here.
She still was a Time Dragon, after all. Proud....and cranky. These boring old puny humanoids were nothing as the greatness of HERSELF so the sooner they were our of her mind, the better.

Jamie and Victoria
If only it were just that, then this next part would be easy. However, he knows full well that it's more complicated that that. That this time he won't see her open her eyes again and smile up at him...not unless he finally admits the one thing that he never could when they traveled together the first time. There's no doubt that he has to - he couldn't possibly be selfish enough to make them stay like this forever. But how do you tell someone something you've been keeping to yourself for years?
I'm sorry, Victoria, for all of this. I know it's not been the easiest thing for ye to deal with, he says finally. And I know I owe ye more of an explanation about the time that I knew ye from before. I promise ye, if ye want to know, I'll tell ye all of it once we're back to ourselves. There's something...something else I need to say, though. I-I'm just not sure where to start.

Jamie's nervousness is reflected in herself inwardly as well, as she silently listens to his words, wondering just what she's going to say to him as well. Unsure what to say back, she does take comfort that he wants to go first. When she does think out words, they are unusually calm and kind.
G-go on, she urged soft.

He can't help but look down at her body again, only the faint rise and fall of her chest giving any indication she's still alive. Even after all this time, he's still struck by her beauty, but it's mixed in now with all the feelings of protectiveness and friendship and how deeply he's fallen for her.
I cared for ye more than I let on, he continues, not quite ready to use another word to describe it. Still, his 'voice' is quite soft and full of emotion, and for a moment there's a flash of their last conversation the night she decided to stay with the Harrises. But the Doctor said it was your life, and your decision whether to stay with us or not. I never told ye how I felt, then. Maybe because I thought you'd always travel with us, and I'd not ever given any consideration to leaving myself.
The adventures they had, travelling from place to place without knowing where they were going to wind up next - he had said once it was half the fun, and he meant it. The idea of leaving had simply never occurred to him. Even when it became clear she wasn't going to go with them. He had been heartbroken, but left all the same.
I still thought about ye after ye were gone. Ye saw that dream, with the Nightmare King, when I thought ye were there. Then ye woke up for real and...I-I guess what I'm trying to say, Victoria, is that I like ye, as more than a friend. And I have for a long time now.

But they've learned a lot this week. She's learned a lot. About him. About herself. She doesn't fully know what happened back then, but as he speaks she knows his words are truthful. Sincere. And to bare open such a confession to her without a reply would be unnaturally cruel of her. Especially when...
She's obviously not used to this, from the way she speaks.
I think that...with a bit more time...it is, well rather fast for me to be completely decided you know... goodness, her voice was trembling. ...but I think in time, I could like you as much as you do me. A pause, that was quick and followed a slew of words. N-not that I don't like you! I like you a lot actually especially after what happened on the ship, it's just that my father always taught me to be careful before jumping into a relationship and we are both rather young, and goodness, I'm still rather confused by the entire thing and...

Which...it appears they still are, as her presence is still very much there. Something more needs to be said, and the only thing he can think of is the one thing he didn't quite say a moment ago.
Look, Victoria, I'm not asking ye to do anything ye don't want to do. But there's this thing that some of the other crew call 'dating'. It's a wee bit like courting, but not necessarily leading to us getting married. We could do that, maybe.
Actual courting would be a bit difficult, at least as far as it would be for someone from Victoria's time. With her father being asleep in the pods, Jamie can't exactly ask for his approval in the matter. And, technically, they're already cohabiting - just not in quite the same way other people do. And...well, after he admits what he has to, she might decide to scrap the whole thing.
I have to tell ye, though, I-I think I could love ye, given that time. If...if you're not comfortable with that, I understand.
It's as truthful as he can be, and even if she rejects him for it, at least it should be enough for them to get their own bodies back. At least, that's the theory. They'll know soon enough if it's not.

This could be very different, even if there was danger, all the same.
Of course she knows not much about that. Rather, there's a part of Victoria that wants to berate Jamie for explaining to her what exactly dating means - not because she didn't quite understand the meaning but, how completely surreal the entire thing is. In fact, if it wasn't for the entire series of events which lead them here, for this very moment...she might have thought she is dreaming. She knows the steps of courting, yet...that life seems so far behind her now. Victoria would blink absently at it, if she was back in her own body.
I... she begins, unsure what to say. It is frightening, strange yet so endearing together at once. She remembers the dream they shared and the first time he saw her. I think I could as well, she answers back. Even if you are sometimes a bit of a braggart. And oh! When you make those comments about the dresses the other 'lasses' are wearing and... she laughs. I suppose that is a certain charm to you about it. Otherwise you wouldn't be quite...yourself. It's quite--
She can't seem to speak anymore. Something is tearing her, and she feels like she's loosing consciousness.
! Victoria's spirit suddenly leaves Jamie's body and returns to hers.

Then it's gone, and he's himself again - wholly himself, like he's not been since this whole thing began. That part that was there that was 'Victoria'...he can't feel her anymore. For a split second, there's the oddest sense of loss before the situation sinks in, and he realises she must have returned to her own body.
But, as he looks around, he realises something else as well. Not everyone's woken up yet, although he has no idea if it's due to them being stubborn about admitting their feelings or if it's something else - and a terrible thought occurs to him. What if something went wrong, some unforeseen result of the curse? What if she doesn't open her eyes now? What would he do? He runs over to where her body is sitting, crouching down next to her and reaching to wrap his arms around her and hold her so she doesn't fall. "Victoria! Victoria, can ye hear me? Say something!"
Swallowing heavily, he places a hand on the side of her face, cradling his cheek, and his voice goes quite soft - a mix of concern and caring that makes his feelings evident to anyone who's listening. "Och, please be alright."
It's like you have an icon for everything.
"I hope something like that never happens again," she told him weakly, but smiling.
(Funny you should mention that...)
As she opens her eyes, a weight lifts from his chest - and he grins at her in outright relief. It may take a little bit of time, but he knows everything will be okay. "Aye," he says huskily, trying to work around a lump that's gone and developed in his throat. "I'll thank any other goddesses around here to stay out of our business, myself."
By all rights, he should let her go and allow her to sit up on her own, but now that they're here he doesn't want to. He lets his other hand drop down, gently smoothing her hair away from her face. Before he can think better of it, he leans in, brushing a kiss against her lips. It's soft and sweet, allowing her the chance to pull back if it's not what she wants to do.
Man I sure love these title bars
Maybe it was that simple, charming smile of his. She could figure that out later, possibly, if she wanted too. Victoria had a feeling she didn't really need to find out, and that was also strange in itself. Maybe she was changing, and how this was going to be something entirely different from how it would end. Should she consider this a second chance, even if she hadn't lived the first? If she could..
Right! Mayhaps the lady doth think too much. She doesn't really protest as the gentle smoothing leads to something else entirely. IN fact, her first thought seems to be how sweet it all is.
Victoria doesn't pull back. At least not yet.
Who doesn't love them? Oh, wait. /eyes LJ.
He deepens the kiss, pressing his lips more firmly against hers. While it's still sweet, there's something more there - the potential of things that may come, perhaps. It would be easy to stay like this forever, lost in her embrace...but a small part of him reminds him that she may not be as ready for that as he is. Not just yet. So, reluctantly, he pulls away, although his hand lingers on her cheek a moment longer. It's a second chance for him, one he never thought he would have, and a part of him can't quite believe it's happening.
"Although...there's some things about it that I'll not say as I mind so much."
There's a small, but very happy smile that appears then, before it's replaced by a look of concern. "Are ye all right, though? Can ye stand?"
DEAR LJ LET ME POST THESE TAGS LOVE ME.
That would be so very unladylike.
Swallowing a bit, she breathes slowly once their lips part and smiles back at him before Jamie speaks. Right! Walking! This time without having another voice pulling at her...it was almost strange to think about it like that now.
"Ohh!" Victoria replies, as the question all too quickly takes her out of this entire swell of feelings for her comfort. "I-I'm not sure, really." Tentatively, she moves her toes to test them and her face morphs into an annoyed one. Of course it wouldn't be that easy.
"I should be fine, but there's a feeling of pins and needles if I move my feet. Really, I do hope she didn't make us just sit there for the last few days like this." She takes off the crown of flowers from her hair and tosses it on the temple floor, a sort of strange farewell to this entire situation and the goddess herself.
Although...she can't quite complain about the outcome now can she?
Re: DEAR LJ LET ME POST THESE TAGS LOVE ME.
Whether or not it's that or if it's simply there was a long enough gap between when Nezaitben gave up control of the body and they got around to admitting their feelings to each other that her feet have fallen asleep...well, it's hard to say.
Either way, it still leaves them with the question of how to get her back if her feet don't want to cooperate. They could wait until the feeling went away, but there's some odd glowing going on over where Lash and Zetta are. He has no idea which one of them's causing it, since he can't really see very well with Mindy and Ruffnut all mixed up in things - and to be honest, he's much too busy looking at Victoria to completely pay attention to things over there anyway - but maybe it'd not be such a bad idea to leave them to do whatever it is they're doing over there. And, well, there's one thing he can do easily, given the position they're currently in. All he needs to do is shift his arms like so, and bend a little to pick her up.
"Aye, well, I'll just have to carry ye, then." He gives her one of those crooked grins of his. "That way ye can tell anyone who asks that I've swept ye off your feet."
She doesn't have to do that, naturally, and he doesn't expect her to. But he can't resist the urge to have a wee bit of fun with the idea of it, even if he's at least partially serious about the notion. "At least for a little while until your feet wake up again."
At which point, of course, he'll be willing to let her down again. But even before this, he would have been willing to carry her if needed. This new path they're taking together only serves to strengthen that, and the grin softens into a fond smile as he looks at her.
He can't complain about this outcome either.
