Is Your Love Strong Enough? Part 6 - The Final Scratch

Such a strange occurrence needed, finally a conclusion. Thanks for the Time Lord's trinket gift, there was suddenly an old, fearsome creature made of gears, it's old features squeaking (although not as bad as before, since a certain someone had given him a good oil job). Analog,the fearsome creature known by some as a the crankiest Time Dragon, walked in the city to find out o where Eleven was. She could smell him even in here, you see (wow that's creepy). Flanked by her three handmaidens, the women giggling like schoolgirls at everything, memorized at the ship. The city could hold her well, for all her large size.

First step - Find the Doctor, ask him what he wants. Step two - Do that. Step three - Get out of here.

She still was a Time Dragon, after all. Proud....and cranky. These boring old puny humanoids were nothing as the greatness of HERSELF so the sooner they were our of her mind, the better.

"HEY!" Zetta bellowed out loud. "IT DIDN'T WORK! Stupid freaking lying crap book! Stupid goddess! It's probably because I'm a demon soul in a book! Someone make someone fix this damn thing!"

Lash could hear this voice in their head.

"Someone on the ship has got to have soul extraction powers!" Lash added.

"Great. Just our luck." Zetta sighed. "Maybe Medical? I could confine my soul to your body, but that wouldn't help us, it would just make the problem weeeeeird."

"Didn't you say that was dangerous anyway, since it could tear my body with all that mana power inside it?"

"...Oh geez," Pram said with a giggle, appearing from nowhere, "you two are idiots!"

She paused for a moment before adding a, "teehee!"

"That's if our mana power blends, not if -- PRAM!"

The book glared angrily at the other Overlord.

"I bet you had something to do with this! I'm on to you!"

"What?" Pram raised a brow before giving a scoff. "Oh, I'd love to take credit for this, but unfortunately, no. If anything, it's because you two are so stupid!"

"We are not stupid, shut up," Lash's voice said through the book. "What even gives you the right to say that? I totally kicked your ass!"

"At least I'm not stuck with someone else in a stupid body." Pram replied with a scoff. "And seeing how it's taking forever for you two to split back up to normal, I say you are stuuuuupid!"

"It's not OUR fault the thing they told us to do to get free didn't work!" Zetta snapped. "Clearly something went wrong!"

"Yeah we both know that we like each other because we do fun stuff together!"

"Are you sure?" Pram asked as she put her hand to her chin. "If you two really understood how you two felt about each other, shouldn't you guys have split back up already?"

She gave a little giggle at the end.

"Not if the damn process is broken because it stuck a demon and a human together!" Zetta snarled. "My massive mana power clearly wasn't in the plan!"

"Exactly!" Lash parroted a few seconds afterwards, turning Zetta's voice into a higher pitched one. "and I have my own CO power too! Clearly it's not made to be mixed."

Those two were so out of the ball game it wasn't even funny.

"Oh, will you both just shut-up?"

Sakura wasn't in the best mood, and if she were being fair and honest, it wasn't Lash or Zetta's fault. The fact they were obliviously having the difficulty she was conscious about having just didn't do anything to improve how she was feeling. "It's got nothing to do with whether or not you're meant to mix, or what your skills are, or what species -- let alone planet! -- you're from!"

Part projection, part irritation, pushed her on. "Sure, you enjoy spending time together, because it can be fun, but it's more than that. Isn't it? Even if you didn't want it to be, even if you set out at the start thinking it wouldn't ever be. There's times when you kiss where it's more than just the hormonal rush that's making you giddy, but why would you want to pay attention to that? It might mean you care. You care a whole lot more than you want to, and you know if they're hurting, then you're hurting too, even if there's not a damn thing you can do about it."

Wow, this was such an upper! "You know you'd do your damnedest to keep them safe, no matter how impossible it may be to hurt them, let alone kill them, because you don't like thinking about living without them. Not even for the sake of their friends, or their family, but that selfish part of yourself. You care! If it was just about fun, you could walk away whenever you argued, or things weren't going your way. You'd shrug and say you'll find someone else who doesn't let things get in the way of having fun. Have you? Have either of you walked away?"

She threw her hands in the air.

"It's pretty simple, you know! You," she pointed at Lash, "Admit that Zetta's important to you. And you!" She pointed to Zetta. "Admit that how Lash feels matters to you. If she's happy, if you can make her happy, if you can protect her, or whatever else goes through your demonic overlord mind! Same with you, Lash! If either one of you were repodded tomorrow, how the hell would you feel? Ask yourself why you'd feel that way."

She crossed her arms firmly over her chest, incredibly self-defensive. There's your answer. Or at least hers, thrown in Lash and Zetta's faces.

She was the best general friend!

Zetta blinked as Sakura burst onto the scene to rant at them.

Would he keep Lash safe? Yes.

Would he hurt her? No. (Training didn't count. That was productive. And she was a tough girl who never asked him to hold back.)

Did he hurt when she hurt? ...well, he sure didn't LIKE it. Would he walk away? ...when had they ever really fought?

And if she was repodded tomorrow...

"Hey! If one of us gets repodded, that means we both do! We're stuck in the same body!"

So close. So CLOSE, Zetta. And yet...

The blinking was continued by Lash as well, although it was her voice that came out of the book next.

"Hey what the hell is your problem anyway?" she asked. "Is this getting back at the floating fountain?" Lash you were grasping for straws at this point, but Zetta's emotion were pretty much stuck in her too. "Besides I don't hur--"

Zetta got a nice image of her screaming that at the others on her way into the hanger to rescue him, along with the strange emotions that came with it. Denial?

"...I don't hurt?" She said again, this time more of a question. "Black Hole is totally against anything like that!" The book pouted. Like, something that was terribly Lash all over Zetta's book face.

Because pouting was a much better thing to do than to think of anything else...even if...

"What the place we're from is for or against has very little to do with what we feel." Said with all the certainty in her body. "You can be trained to be one way all your life, and still break out of that training."

She failed certain shinobi rules spectacularly, no matter how she tried.

"Zetta," she said, voice dropping to a very neutral note. "You missed the point. By a few kilometers. If Lash left to somewhere you couldn't go, for all your powers, how would you feel? Why would you feel that way? For someone who's been alive so long, you're a pretty big idiot if you can't even step up and acknowledge how you really feel. Coward."

Oh. Oh that was also projection, if equally meant. Yeesh.

Oh man. Things were going to get worse now.

Mindy was already there with Ruffnut in tow. Mindy looked more relaxed than she had in days: her hair was up in pigtails, she was actually wearing jeans and a T, and she was even eating a little bit of halloween candy.

When she saw the scene, she very audibly snickered. "Let me guess: its not working for them even a little bit, huh?"

Yeap just keep ignoring the guy in the back, still furiously writing. This was going to make the best book, he just knew it.

"...There isn't any such place," Zetta said, ignoring the sudden stab of what a demon slightly more in tune with himself would describe as heartache, because clearly it was not the point. "I'm Zetta! The whole freaking COSMOS is mine to do whatever I want with! Seriously, I didn't get to level 2000 just to let Lash wander off to hide."

Then the book glared at Mindy. "See, I TOLD you demon mana power shouldn't mix with human mana power!"

A heartache intensified, perhaps, by Lash's own mixed feelings. Unlike Zetta, she didn't have an excuse to run into about what she would do if the Overlord was repodded...rebooked, or simply stopped moving. In fact he might have felt that. That ping of worry every time she saw his figure on the floor and the whole song and dance that repeated itself when that happened - from shaking to make sure he was alive to his memory losses. It...wasn't a worry that Zetta's powers weren't powerful, on the contrary.

It was a worry she was powerless to do anything. Science could only do so much, after all.
